Yarra Glen Grand Hotel reviews
102 Have eaten there often, never had a bad experience yet,
Tonight I tried the linguine with prawns,
Restaurant quality at pub prices,
Absolutely fantastic meal, compliments to the chef
Hands down the best pub meal I’ve had! Super delicious, and great pricing. Great little hidden gem! We had the steak and the salami gnocchi and we couldn’t fault either!
I have always wanted to try The Yarra Glen Hotel for a meal and today 5 of us had a very underwhelming meal with the fish so over cooked and the same with the Chicken Parma only the Calamari being reasonable. Very disappointed and will not be back.
Disappointing. The corned beef was three discs of chewy meat, swimming in a sloppy mash, surrounded by over-cooked carrot. Took two discs home for our dog. My friend returned her roast pork meal which resembled a lump sized piece of pork. A schooner of Guiness and a glass of wine cost $22. The previous week at another pub, same cost was $18. A shame, because the ambience is great. Whoever prepared the meals needs further instruction on quality and presentation, and/or stop relying on PFD food!
Not as nice as last time we were there. Service was very slow and no clearing tables or care for food being shabby. Bad news we won't meet up with friends there again. Sadly.
Friendly and happy staff with quality food
(great sized servings)
Not crazy busy for a hot Saturday arvo in January but guaranteed I’ll be stopping in again if I’m passing by & telling people about this awesome place also.
Huge place. On any tourist-friendly day like market days the place will be packed so be warned. Fortunately, on my visit when the place was pumping there still seemed to be enough staff to cope. Our orders came in less than 30 minutes on a busy day and that alone was impressive. Great experience. Plenty of parking out the back. Beautiful building; a truly grand place.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating considering it was Boxing Day the food was great nice atmosphere, thank you we will be back
Staff member was abrupt and rude, apprently too busy from lunch service to serve in any way expect for drinks.
Have been many times over the years, and l found food was good my steak was burnt, for how it was asked.most of the meals were superb.but no one took the empty plates until we were almost ready to go home. We had a table of nine. Sandy.
A very busy hotel in Yarra Glen. Mixed experience on this visit. The staff were all friendly during a very busy lunch serving. Food was a little average (pizzas) but the service speed good considering how busy it was. The outside umbrella should not have been used as it was clearly broken so more care in that area is needed to avoid a potential injury. Good to see it was taken down promptly after I reported it.
So busy that the service was delayed but once the food arrived, it was delish!
Almost worth the long wait
Normally dont write reviews but i needed this one, went for dinner tonite, service terrible and the food pathetic disgusting chips, salad was old and wilted, overall very bad experience, prices not cheap, guys you need to improve your game disgusting
Very nice open area at the rear. Plenty of room to socially distance and have a good time. TAB facility available. The interior is fabulously old world.
Fantastic, the old building does itself proud hosting a wonderful dining room. The old style bar is easy to access in it's central position. Then there is the outdoor deck, with ample space to enjoy some fresh country air. It only gets better with the menu offering a good choice of meals, which are reasonably priced and excellently prepared. Very popular place, seriously recommend booking or arriving early.
Was here a couple years ago and now it's even better. Joel is a real star as a manager. Keep up the great work
Nice venue but service/food wasn't great. Got stuck at the front waiting to be seated for ages, girl taking meal orders had 0 personality/made no attempt to be friendly. My $37 steak came out way overcooked & with the wrong sides, and our chicken Parma was undercooked. Tables weren't socially distanced during Covid.
The view was just superb. Had the Specials board, Ricotta gnocchi with bacon in a mushroom cream sauce, it was sensational with bold flavours of mushroom. The Spaghetti with prawns and baby clams was delicious, garlicky in a fantastic olive oil. The beers were cold and cleansing. What more could we want for lunch?
The food was amazing if you don't mind wating 45mins before you get it.and that's with barely any other customers.
3 cubicles no toilet paper in any of them. 1 toilet didnt flush at all but still being used because there isn't any form of sign stating its out of order toilets looked like they had been abandoned in an old warehouse set for demolition because they hadn't been cleaned in God knows how long!
Great food, impeccable service! Fantastic range of local craft beers & wine. Good selection of Gins. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Well worth the drive from anywhere.
