Yarra Glen Grand Hotel

Why was it excellent you ask? The service! Emily did an amazing job, none of our requests were a hassle. First time staying in Vic, will return! Thanks again for such a positive experience

Food took over 45mins, friends parmas were cold and pasta was far too spicy. Also didn't give us any forks.

Went in Friday afternoon hoping to grab dinner but they were fully booked. Got takeaway pizza instead and was good quality but pretty pricey. Menu looked interesting, and good selection of beers on tap. Will try again another night but be sure to book first.

Sadly, the environment here ruined a nice family dinner in the bistro. Every time we went to order drinks, several patrons were using highly offensive and derogatory language - Staff didn't feel empowered to say anything, so we had to ask several individuals to remember there were kids around (including their own). You expect a bit of this in a pub, but this was way over the top and made it really unpleasant.

Gladly, the food was reasonable (counter meals) and prices were ok. Wait times were +50 mins, so be prepared to settle in while your meals arrive.

The pub itself is great; a classic Aussie pub, great setting and good outdoor area for soaking up the sun.

Great lunch break spot. Food is very good (we're able to swap the salad and fries fo for mash and steamed veg), staff were superfriendly & the playground on-site for the troops was a big help.

When you order a steak for 37 bucks you expect it to be good. Our meal experience was pretty bad. My wife’s steak was cooked to order, BUT the meat was so old it had that taste like it had been sitting in the fridge for ages! Sent it back and was met with “ the meat is fine ”from the chef. No, it’s not fine to be serving food that old and disgusting.

Do yourselves a favour and avoid this dirty old pub and go down the road 10mins to Coldstream brewery where the steaks are beautiful and only 27 bucks.

The hotel is beautiful inside and out. I loved my eggplant parma and hot chocolate. Plenty of vegetarian options. Everyone on my table loved their meals, and they were worth the price. Great place for my birthday dinner:)

We booked in several days ago for a table of 15 with a highchair and had dinner there last night.
We were put outside after I mentioned I had canceled another booking at another place because we didn’t want to be outside with small children.
When we arrived and the table didn’t have the highchair and the footy was on a huge screen and it was 5: 30pm. I order my children’s meals and garlic bread just before 6pm. Then the remained of the table order over the next 15min. Our garlic bread came out, then another 30min before the first kids meals came out! Then I asked about all our other kids meals and mains at 7: 10pm shortly there after our other kids meals came out but nothing together even though they were order together.
Then the mains came out all over the place. Not even in couples as they were order and incorrect sides too. The last main meal that was one of the first ordered was the last main meal to come out by almost 8pm!
The steak was perfectly cooked and all meals tasted amazing but not being told about the wait, being outside, the unbelievably loud outdoor area and horrible tables outside destroyed the fact that was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!
We left by 8: 15pm with our small children after scoffing down our meals because we had to get home and never to return again for a meal! I can’t get my head around how much this destroyed my husbands 40th birthday celebrations and had our children out an hour past their bedtimes.
Terrible communication and a night we will never forget for the worse dinning experience!

Beautiful accommodation in the style of the period of the building. The only downside was the noise of passing traffic at night. The hotel dose provide ear plugs for this. Nice meal in the bistro at affordable prices. Overall a nice central place to stay.

On a busy Mother’s Day! The service was great and the meals delicious. Definitely a go to for great pub meals!

Great food, good service but unfortunately our table was close to the ordering counter and the staff persistently cleaned and sorted cutlery VERY LOUDLY all evening which made it difficult for our table to talk/hear. The staff need to be instructed that they clean it quietly or out the back in the kitchen.

I attended The Grand for a mate's 50th and we had Sunday lunch.
The service was fantastic as the staff maneuvered their way around the tables amongst tight confines.
Bar staff were friendly and attentive and did their best to keep the drinks flowing during a busy Sunday arvo. Kudos to them.
I would go back to The Grand but I warn you it's popular so I guess you'll need not be in a rush if you want a good meal.
I had the 300g porterhouse which was one of the best steaks I have ever had.

Nice clean room. Friendly accomodating staff. The adults only dining room was comfortable, warm and the food and service was good. Acceptable continental breakfast. Thank you. Will return.

Obviously very busy being Easter Sunday but just over one hour wait before we got our meals is unacceptable. Meals were above average. Lots of staff running around but not too many behind the bars?
Nice ambience. Some tables were too close together.

Sadly it was nothing short of terrible. It took one and a half hours to get our food, the chicken parma was overcooked, dry and certainly not worth the wait. Other meals on our table were average to reasonable at best. Cleaning away plates and empty glasses was very slow. Disappointing, very disappointing.

My wife and I had a ball, the Grand Hotel was a step back in time which made our stay very relaxed. The food was very nice and so were the staff. Thanks to The Grand Hotel's special offer via Luxury Escapes we discovered a beautiful and peaceful place in the Yarra Valley and wonderful wineries and scenery plus the weather was perfect for the three days Wed-Fri we staid. We'll be back.

12 months ago before covid I found a ring in the bathroom and handed it to staff who refused to take my details. I left it there, hopefully the owner got it back.
Last week I called in to see if the ring had been claimed, the response was not helpfull, they had no interest in letting me know if the ring had been collected.
From now on I will never leave found property at the venue I will take it to the police station, I feel the owner never got a chance to get it back. Not a nice feeling.
