Uncle Billy's Chinese Restaurant

Love this place, been coming here for years and thought it's about time I wrote a review. Always delicious and almost always open!

Another delightful night in Perth, was craving good Chinese and we were directed to Uncle Billy's on Roe St in Northbridge and it was very unassuming in appearance from the outside, but my god the explosion of flavours was incredible with every meal we ordered, especially the Szechuan beef, WOW! The octopus tentacles was also delish! I would return here again in a heartbeat. The service could do with some help but it didn't deter from the amazing food.

Mapo Tofu is so great with steam rice, if you order one plate of this, you can eat about 10 bowls of rice

Great Chinese food, the salt and pepper squid is a must try. Very fresh and we'll seasoned. I always order this from the menu when I visit or order takeaway. They also do an amazing fried rice, something that's hard to get right. This is my go to Chinese restaurant. The staff is also lovely.

Organised a surprise birthday dinner at Uncle Billy's. Dinner was amazing and was topped off by a fried ice cream birthday cake which the restaurant organised without me asking. Was a wonderful finish to the night.

A must try for anyone new to Perth or visitors that want a cheeky late night Chinese restaurant feed.

Seems like the staff here always try to please and exceed expectations, one thing I believe that sets them apart from other Chinatown restaurants. One occassion that sticks out for me is our waitress' accommodation to my celiac friend whom helped us order gluten free food with no problems at all. My mate loves Chinese food and she loves Uncle Billy's so it was very comforting and it felt like we were in good hands. We appreciated it very much.

Food arrives hot every time and I'm always pleased with the dishes quality. My go to dishes are salt and chili squid tentacles and stir fry beef ho fun noodles during late night adventures. Early morning hours I will get some dumplings or a chicken congee. Also, they serve a mean, notoriously, indulgent deep fried mars bar. My mouth waters when I hear the name Uncle Billy's! Yum.

It's a good vibe here and everyone that goes set a unique and friendly atmosphere. It's a comfy type of environment, really good to bring mates and banter over dinner.

Overall, Billy's is a beloved landmark in Perth that many treasure. I appreciate the place and have made some very good memories here, I hope it never changes.

Amazing food. It gets busy! The menu is HUGE.
Highly recommend the chilli pepper chicken/squid. Order it with rice because you are going to want to eat it with every last bit of crunchy chilli seasoning left on the plate.
They are also open quite late so this place is perfect after a night out in Northbridge.

Good value authentic quality late night restaurant in Chinatown. Food is GREAT here.it always is as it always has been for 30 years.

Through the years I have visited this place once in a while, have never been disappointed.always enjoyed the spicy pork belly claypot.

Always order Marmalade Chicken! They have the best way to cook it. Very recommended! The seafood soup is really good. Best place to eat on Winter!

One of the popular hang out place for students looking for late night dinners. The food has been consistently good all these years. We had the stir fried kangkung with fermented bean curd, jer jer chicken and steamed pork mince with salted fish. The dishes came with steamed rice. We left with happy faces and satisfied tummies.

Been here a long long time and it is a Lovely place for dinner, good spread and food quality is generally above average. Great if you're coming from a night club! However, when I came home I was really thirsty. Not sure if it was the Golden prawns with salted egg yolk we ordered or it was in general.

The atmosphere was good, but a little tired and needs a refresher.

Can't get enough of the Fried Rice (Pork & Shrimp). So good. Slightly price, but makes of a great take-away treat. Will definitely be back for more.

Good Chinese food!
We came here on the recommendation of a local who told us that Uncle Billy's was the best Chinese restaurant in Perth. I don't know about that but the food was good, the service was fast, the portions were generous and the prices were reasonable.

Food is good, service is okay. Can get quite busy. Had the steamed chicken, the first time I had it it was a huge serving and was tender, this time it was a bit dry and not a huge amount of flavor, the fried rice is nice and so are the clay pots, we tried beef and mushroom. Definitely give it a go.

Food was delicious but unfortunately one of the dishes was sourish, so I can't vouch for the freshness of the ingredients. No one addressed our concern despite highlighting it to the waitress. Hopefully its a one-off thing.

First of all, I consulted my Chinese friend before making a review! I was told the place was very Chinese.

We had no reservation on a Saturday night (pride parade in fact) and lucky we got a table. The staff simply dumped crockery on the table, the tea cups rolled around. Whilst I hear no music, the place was loud, not sure why everyone used their level ten voice. Then one wait staff placed an order tab on the table and we haven't ordered yet. 5 minutes later her realised it was the wrong table, said sorry, took the order tab and nicked off.

We over estimated and ordered too much. Although we thought 6 pieces of scallops almost $50 was very expensive. This was not even the best dish we had. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the food was yummy, doesn't taste fast food Chinese but I think it was overly priced for the service and ambience that we got.

Overall, I am glad I tried but I don't think I will be back. The place seems to be overrated too. But at the end of the day, you need to try and see if you feel otherwise.

My first time in Australia. I’m gonna give my honest review about this restaurant.

It’s located at North Bridge, WA, Chinatown.

As a Singaporean Chinese, I’ve grow up eating these kind of dishes.

This restaurant is run by, my assumption based on their language, Hong Kongers.

Service staffs are busy, prices are 30% more expensive than the ones in Singapore, and the dishes are tasty yet very salty. Don’t be mistaken, I love salty dishes, but they cooked their dishes way too salty.

As for their higher prices as compared to Singapore, I cannot deny that their portion are around 20% larger too. So I guess it’s fair enough.

I can’t comment much on their service staffs as they are lacking manpower. However on the taste of the food, I would recommend that they cook them slightly less saltier.

Overall, a good place for Australians and Westerners to try authentic Chinese cuisine.

It was good before, but this time not satisfied with the service and the dish we ordered. Hopefully they focus more better and fast service.
