We decided to celebrate our 1st year anniversary lunch here and we’re quite disappointed with the lunch banquet that we had. The food was a bit bland and we weren’t briefed by the staff on what we were going to get as part of the banquet, which was surprisingly vegetarian apart from the Sous Vide Chicken which was a bit under cooked because of the chicken blood that seeped out of it. The head of staff was really helpful to resolve the issue which was great. The place is really great, they have a nice property that you can go around and a big garden where you can picnic. There are some spots where they need to do maintenance like the tilted tables in the Piazza we dined on and various exhibits on the Sculpture Trail. Other than that, the place is a beautiful and family friendly vineyard restaurant. (This review is based on February 21,2021 experience) Looking forward to revisit this year.

Was seated for dinner and wanted to try some of their wines to choose a bottle to have with our meal. Was directed to the cellar door and told tastings were $10 each, or if we purchased a bottle it would be complimentary. Tasting was a little slow and took an hour, which would have been fine but we were pretty hungry.

Went to purchase the bottle of wine for dinner at the cellar door which was 2 meters from the restaurant. We were told they were takeaway only and that we still needed to pay for the tastings, even if we were purchasing a bottle of wine for our dinner. When we questioned this the staff said:

“We wouldn’t make any money if we gave away all of our wine. ”

After dinner we walked through their vineyard and admired the pieces of art that were for sale between $5000 - $50,000.

Not a small family run winery feel at all. Also, during dinner a dish was forgotten and the kitchen closed after the staff realised.

Montalto is such a beautiful spot on the Peninsula. Warm and relaxed dining set on a stunning estate with grape vines and unique sculptures as far as the eye can see. It’s light and bright and focuses on showcasing the very best of the region - scenery, wines and produce. In terms of a wedding venue, gorgeous photos are guaranteed and a really lovely, friendly experience. Not to mention options for intimate weddings, an outdoor ceremony and dancing outside - it's absolutely perfect!

Simply divine… We had a party that had multiple dietary requirements and the chef was only too happy to accommodate our needs. The food was amazing, the service was amazing, the views are amazing. This is our second visit within a couple of months, Both visits were for special occasions. After our dinner in the restaurant we ventured outside to the pizzeria Which was also lovely. Will be back:)

Pass by here after a bad experience from previous winery so we decided to give it a shot. This vineyard really made my day as i was there during busy hour. Despite the wait, i was greeted by the lady in the bar. She runs us through the wine selection and we are happy with the whole experience! Definitely recommend the wine tasting.

We dined at the piazza. The food is 6 out of 5 and very tasty. The bulgur salad is flavoursome and delicious, would get two servings alone. Highly recommended for all to come here The wait wasn’t very long either for the food to come out.
The only set back was that it is NOT dog friendly even though there is an outdoor section. We really don’t understand why and never faced this many issues at other wine regions. They don’t even spread COVID.
Also recommend to do the wine tasting next door. We did the Museum vs Latest $25pp for 8 wines

Well interestingly we stopped for lunch. The ambiance of the place was great but the service was disappointing and upsetting.
Staff especially kathlyn and Lauren were absolutely rude and obnoxious. They obviously need education on manners and communication as they both spoke in a rude manner and were very unhelpful.it spoilt the experience of the place

Enjoyed a flawless Easter Sunday lunch. Despite the crowds the floorstaff were all totally unflustered and delivered with great warmth and efficiency. The set menu was generous and featured a well considered variety of ingredients and flavours. And all done in a refined but relaxed manner, without any Peninsula pretentiousness. Just great!

One of the best wineries with walk in country style courtyard canteen and superior quality of food and spectacular view.
Must visit every spring and late summer!

I don't know why they are not 5stars. I was there today with my family & as far as I am concerned the food, the wine & the service is top notch. We had the lunch menu from chef Matt Wilkinson & it was to die for.and I should know as I have eaten at a lot of michelin rated restaurants around the world. I'll strongly recommend Montalto.

Overall a terrible experience. Had to wait to be seated while many staff walked passed, once seated the initial service was fine. Meals came out, all well over seasoned and over powered with pepper as well as cold.

Second round of service was non existant ordered another glass of wine and it never arrived. Left without it.

The table was set on a large angle which made it uncomfortable

The only highlight was the hallumi

Hmm interesting experience. Location is great with stunning views. Food and wine were great and reasonable price for the quality. Staff very attentive, helpful and friendly except for one. Appeared to be the manager, Laura or Lauren. Extremely rude. Very unpleasant to hear her berating staff loudly while they were just trying to do their best.

Really enjoyed our time here. Wine tasting was fantastic value with very tasty wines. Sculpture walk was quiet and peaceful. Beautiful view as well. My only issue with it was it was a bit confusing when entering as to where to go for the tasting or restaurant.

Delicious food, great wine and fantastic service.
One of the best winery lunch experiences we have had in Victoria. We dined at the restaurant for Friday lunch and the food was exceptional, the tomatoes were some of the best I have tasted and were grown on the property, the mussels and zucchini were also 10/10. The wine tasting is lovely, 2018 Teurong Road Chardonnay was a standout. Would definitely recommend booking the restaurant with Matt Wilkinson rather than the outdoor Piazza.
The venue and grounds are beautiful and the staff are friendly and welcoming even when the place is heaving and they are under the pump.
A big shout out to Jimmy who has looked after us on both visits and Maddison who was our lovely waitress on Friday. They are both superstars.
The sculpture walk after is a must.

So disappointed and incredibly overpriced for what you get. $90 set menu on weekends with no a la carte which is never good but we knew when booking so that’s fine. The menu is average at best, apart from the main lamb it’s mostly vegetarian and a tiny bit of seafood.so many vegetables and no potatoes with the mains lamb. Really? The seafood dish for main was actually really really good I thought but the portion was as stingy as it gets, not even up to a normal main size and we had to share it between 4 people. Ice cream was melted and just all round disappointed but for about $110 per person on a P/H I walked away hungry and unsatisfied. Our curly haired waiter was excellent and we really appreciated him but sadly it was a big let down aside from him.

Fantastic food and wine in a spectacular setting. Outside dining with views of the vines, a gorgeous veggie patch and sculpture walk.
