La Camera Southgate

Food & wine were delicious, in fact outstanding, service disappointing. Would have liked another drink and dessert but it was never offered. I made a booking 6 weeks ago, special dinner for partner's birthday, table for 2 - we were parked on end of table for 4. Although we are from interstate we are very familiar with Melbourne and would be reluctant to return to this restaurant.

We went on Christmas Day with family from across the country and had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly and exceptionally prompt and the food sensational. Cant thank them enough for giving up their time on Christmas day to allow us to enjoy ours!

Beautiful place to eat in Melbourne. Paul is one of the best hosts we have ever had. A fabulous place to eat. The food was magnificent.

The best Italian food I’ve ever had. One of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne the pizza’s are 10/10 and the staff are always so lovely!

How can this only have 4.2 stars! I got takeaway with my kids we sat at the bar to wait! The bartender was lovely and May I say I received and witnessed the BEST service by ALL staff I have EVER experienced and we live in Dubai! The yummiest and most Delish pizza we have tasted! I would say better than some restaurants in Italia 100%

This place is great! Atmosphere is relaxed and casual with super competent and really friendly wait staff They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about and you can tell making the customer happy is their main priority. The service we received was so amazing and we will definitely be back again. Joe (and in fact all staff) went out of their way to accommodate a large family. La Camera was welcoming and gave us an amazing experience. Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely restaurant if you are in Melbourne. Regards Nurije Alexander.

My favourite Italian restaurant in the city. The service, food and atmosphere is always first class. Paul and the team always make everyone welcome - love this place.

How this place has changed. Worst dining experience in a long while. Seriously overrated. What was served as veal with slop of something looked worse that prison food! Not a garnish in sight. (Wish we had the photo!) When providing feedback we got folded arms from the maitre de who said she had been there for 14 years! Perhaps that's the problem? No white table service here, not tucked away, no atmosphere. Total disappointment. We have had local pub fare way better at 1/2 the price! Just wanted to get out. Avoid.

The food was very average and over priced! Pizzas ok (probably the best food on the menu). We won’t be back. So disappointed. Don’t bother! Tried raising the issues and just had attitude back.

Staff were friendly & attentive but menu choice limited for pasta dishes. Risotto and lasagne were bland and not at the standard expected for the price. Very disappointing.

Fantastic restaurant. Relaxed and comfortable vibe and the staff were outstanding, always ensuring we were having a good time and were incredibly helpful with helping us decide what to order. Food was magnificent, can't recommend La Camera enough.

Service is always top-notch at La Camera. Also in one of the most picturesque spots in Melbourne, overlooking the mighty Yarra River and the Melbourne CBD cityscape. Great quality food as well, and not overpriced like a lot of restaurants around these days. Great to visit if you're going to see a show at the Arts Centre and want a pre-show dinner.

Not that this place needs more reviews, the food is always excellent and the service is outstanding. I really love their lamb shanks when they are on the menu but all the meals are delicious.

Exceptional Italian food, both traditional and lighter modern dishes. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved it!

Very busy on a Saturday night as expected. Took forever to receive our cocktails only for it to be super strong, however the food was absolutely delicious, took just around 40 minutes to come but would come back again

The entire ox cheek dish was absolutely delicious. The meat melted in the mouth and it was full of flavour. The polenta chips were creamy on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. Great alternative to mashed potatoes. The beans were nice and crunchy. The best meal that I had in a long time!

I suggest offering GF pasta to the many people who would love to try your pasta dishes.

Outside views were amazing at night. Very nice atmosphere.

The food - basic flavors, can improvise. Staff - very attentive. Rest rooms-clean. Ambience - nice. Charming decor.
