Jasper Hotel reviews
89Had a wonderful one night stay at Jasper Hotel with my friend. The location of the hotel is very convenient; being near public transport, Queen Victoria Market and various restaurants. The 24hr reception allowed us to drop our bags off hassle-free and come back later to check-in, which went very smoothly. The room was clean and cozy, with the necessary amenities supplied for our stay. One very minor issue was that the rubbish bin in the bathroom had not been emptied. Other than that, everything was perfect! Will be looking to book again at Jasper Hotel!
The staff were SO SO SO lovely (Tas and Cerys) they really did their best to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The location is also great. My only issue with the hotel is that the wifi didn’t work for all three nights that I was there. I think wifi is something all hotels must provide so this was quite disappointing.
Fantastic location just beside the iconic Queen Victoria Market. Tram stops just in front. Free tram zone. Staff are very nice. Rooms are simple but clean and beds super comfy. Price is reasonable.
Fantastic experience staying at Jasper Hotel, room and facilities were clean and more than adequate. Staff could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. The location is perfect with Queen Vic Market at your door step, short walk to the Regent Theatre on Collins St and a cheap Uber to the restaurants lining Lygon St. Cannot wait to come back!
Brilliant Value in a Modern Setting, a must stay!
Liked · The staff were so friendly and brilliant to deal with. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The location was fantastic next to the markets and tram line. We will certainly be staying here on our next Melbourne trip!
Disliked · The facilities are the only let down without a pool and no access to the courtyard, that is for courtyard access rooms only (fair though). This is a very minor thing and not even an issue.
Location - Jasper Hotel is just about a 20 minute drive from the Melbourne Airport. It is right in Melbourne City Center so pretty accessible. A tram line passes right outside the hotel so it is easy to get around via public transport from here. In fact, the hotel is in the Free Tram Zone so you can take tram rides as often as you like.
Room and General Ambience - Though the hotel front is a bit disappointing (kind of squeezed in between a McDonalds’ and some stores), the interior is quite nicely done, bright and cheerful. We stayed in the Jasper suite. The sitting area was quite spacious and well-lit, as was the bathroom. The bed was quite comfortable, but overall the bedroom and dressing area was a bit claustrophobic, probably because of the wood paneling that hides the bathroom.
Service - This is the one point where I was not satisfied with the hotel. We originally had a booking for three nights but due to an initial flight delay of around four hours, we missed our connecting flight and ended up reaching 14 hours late. That is technically, on the morning of the second day of our booking. As soon as our check in was complete, I enquired about the complementary breakfast. The concierge mentioned that we had missed it by 5 minutes. I was astonished! We had just spent the last 20 minutes at the reception, explaining that we were supposed to check in the night before but had just reached Melbourne due to the flight delay. The concierge, who had initially assumed we were early for that day’s booking, had taken time to understand and confirm that we still had bookings for two more nights. This despite the fact that we had called ahead and asked our tour operator to inform the hotel about the delay. We were hungry and exhausted after our looooooooooooooong journey. In this situation, any Indian hotel worth its salt would have immediately offered us refreshments or sent something up to our room. But the concierge casually shrugged it off. I understand it was no fault of theirs that we reached late and missed a night of rest and the breakfast. But still, it wasn’t our fault either. We would have been happy if he had just offered a plate of sandwiches.
Food - We were out for day-long trips during our stay – the Penguin Parade at Philip Island and the Great Ocean Road trip – so the only meal we had at the hotel was breakfast. Although the choice was limited to four or items on the menu displayed on the table, everything that was served looked beautiful and was delicious.
Nearby Attractions - The famous Queen Victoria Market is just across the street from the hotel. Flagstaff Gardens, one of the oldest parks in Melbourne, is also just a short walk away. The University of Melbourne is also in the vicinity.
Overall, Jasper Hotel has a great location for exploring the city. Except for the initial disappointment on arrival, we had a pretty good stay.
(Our trip was in December 2019, before the Covid 19 pandemic so I'm not aware of any changes that may have happened due to the outbreak.)
Hi, just like to say this issue has been rectified. The owner contacted me and have since been compensated and all is sorted.
The most accommodating and lovely staff members I have met in a very long time. This hotel is super clean and location is convenient. I also love how well the curtains blocked the light! The location can be noisy, but you can expect that from being on Elizabeth Street.
Well kept hotel but the staff did make a few sitcom-esque errors, twice locking us out of our own rooms.
Location is great and the rooms is clean but the service can be a bit lacking. Also felt the photos were deceiving but none the less the room did the job!
Small, quiet and nice rooms with comfy bed, bg flat screen TV and small bar area. Would have been a 5 star review but the shower pressure/shower head were terrible. Very hard to feel like you were getting cleaned and bad for shampooing (room 508). Great location for a night in the city and overall good value.
Really friendly staff but not a safe area! Spent a week on business and it was awful going outside and being confronted by junkies and drug dealers hanging around the 24hr McDonald’s. There were screaming matches and fights EVERY single day. I couldn’t work from my room or conduct zoom calls because of the constant noise. Showers were terrible, boiling hot or freezing cold.
Room was very nice, comfortable bed and good size. Staff were excellent, special mention to Brent Lee who made us feel welcomed immediately.
Great place to stay in Melbourne CBD. You won’t need a car to get around. Public transport readily available and free trams.
Staff were amazing and produced great service. The included breakfast was also good, we really enjoyed our experience here and extended our stay.
Thank you to Renae and Jasper staff for making our stay amazing
Great place to stay in Melbourne CBD. Clean and surprisingly quiet given it's located on the main street. Staff are friendly!
The cleaners need to be more vigilant when it comes to cleaning the human feces from the encove between the hotel and the McDonald's family restaurant. Why Australians relieve themselves in public in such a manner is beyond my comprehension.
I recommend the plan with breakfast. I could choose from the menu table that was served, and it was very delicious when I received Eggs Benedict. (However, if you want to eat a lot, please use another menu) The location is right next to Victoria Market. It is convenient to get on the tram immediately. The staff is also friendly. I would like to come again.
Went to go for a drink at the bar at the front. The Asian gentleman at the front desk was so rude saying that I couldn’t and that they had closed for the day because they’re afraid of getting coronavirus. I felt really uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassed. Would much rather go to a hotel where I could have a relaxed drink over being judged any day of the week. Really disappointed!
Wasn't what I expected and the experience doesn't match what I saw from the photos. My experience wasn't that great, but it's still a pleasant place to stay. I had my curtains fall down and the bathroom and towels were not very accommodating. The bathroom had aged a bit, while the towels had some minor holes in them, I think it's time the hotel looked into their equipment.
I very much liked this hotel in all regards. Clean. Great location. Appropriate to generous amount of space for an urban hotel. Very helpful staff. Lobby / restaurant was also very nice. Excellent value for the price. I would definitely stay again.
