Company I work for booked 3 rooms for us, then on arrival one of us was charged a $300 bond even tho his room was fully paid for. Then when we arrived they wanted a further $200 for the other 2 rooms.again already fully paid for. So when paying bond they would not let us use tap n go to pay as they would charge us a surcharge to pay that way. When our boss called and offered to pay it over the phone they said no.
Room was basic, no water
or drinks in fridge and no snacks! So what: s the bond for?
Poor service and unhelpfull staff.
Would highly recomend not staying at this not so Grand hotel.

Great location and the staff are very nice, but room had faint water stain damage and peeling paint/water damage on the roof. Politely let the staff know, which they took on board and all, but nothing came of it.
Again, nice people and the location is awesome.

Staff were very accommodating and facilities excellent! We stayed on the 17th floor overlooking Lonsdale street and the view was amazing. Bed very comfortable, and room was spacious. Personalised welcome on the TV Screen was very nice and the shower and bathroom very great quality with very nice fittings! Great bar and restaurant too. Can't fault this hotel, great stay, great staff, best view I have ever had from a hotel, we took so many pic's! Highly recommend to anyone!

Good location in the northern CBD. Close to 170 Russell and Chinatown. Good value, good staff, friendly and accommodating.

The hotel location is excellent, near everything, they area is some how is quite, but make sure to book a room no on the Main Street! Its noisy specially the cars and ambulances, the room is wide enough and the toilet is just okay! As i rate the hotel 3 stars due the services and the quality of rooms, hotel amenities, staff were amazing and really helpful and friendly, all of them are well attend and interact
Overall: the hotel is not more 2-3 stars, breakfast was below standard in equivalent to the room rate paid!

Very bad feeling, When I took a bath, the sewer was blocked, and I had to stop the water several times, then let the water flow out, and then in the hotel that felt like a model, not a four-star hotel.

Hotel rooms were not clean properly. We had 2 rooms, one room there was a large spot of dried blood on the bathroom tap and the other room was not clean. Dirt left on bath tub, one corner of carpet was wet, writing table was stained with sugary marks and there were stain spots on the bedsheets. The hotel location was excellent. Unfortunately this hotel is a huge difference to the Hotel Chancellor in Hobart where everything were excellent.

The room looked completely different to the photos which must have been taken years ago. There was a constant humming noise throughout the night and the room was unclean. The bed sheets had a disgusting stain on them, and every time we requested the new sheets had more stains on them. Beds uncomfortable, elevators made you feel like they were going to break every time you used them. The only thing that made this hotel bearable for the week I stayed there was the friendly staff, however with many alternatives in a similar location I strongly recommend you consider other options before booking this hotel.

Firstly we want to say the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

PROS- great location, easy walking distance to local shopping centres, bars, ect. And alot of public transport.
- room was clean, bed was comfortable, balcony was handy, block out curtains worked well.

CONS- couldn't use remote for the T. V.easily at all. Buttons were very hard to press.
- no exhaust fan in bathroom so mirror was foggy.
- shower was very hard to adjust and was either too hot or too cold
- couldn't work out how to fill the bath.

We stayed for two nights, overall experience good, but was outdated and pictures definitely looked better online.

Have come down to Melbourne for the f1. It’s a great easy hotel in the heart of the city.
All the staff here were probably the most helpful and lovely hotel Staff Iv come across. Dale and Nona at the front desk were superb!

Great service and rooms for a decent price! Honestly doesn't get better than this. Valet parking, rooftop pool, movies on demand billed straight to your room, room service, big and comfy bed, perfect location, cheap price and super friendly staff. Only minor complaint is the water pressure could be better. Overall amazing and will definitely stay again!

I am not sure how this hotel has 4 stars? From the moment we walked in the front reception was under staffed and I’ll prepared, I never leave negative reviews and so this experience so far has been underwhelming to say the least. The room is what you pay for, but it’s the basic items that should be supplied in any 2 star hotel, let alone a 4 star! A bath with no plug, an ironing board with no iron, no robes and the list goes on, lift your game

I’ll start with the good: The reception staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a great location very central and accessible to many places in the CBD. The room has good blockout curtains and the bed was comfortable.

The bad: My biggest disappointment was the photography trickery used to make the hotel appear much nicer than it is in reality. The rooftop pool doesn’t look as inviting as it does in their photos. It’s a bit of a maze to get to and being in Melbourne, with the pool being exposed on a rooftop, it is only really usable for a few months in summer, the only the brave for the rest of the year.

The photo trickery continued to the room I booked. Whilst it does look like the photo, in reality the room was a little tired and wasn’t at the cleanliness standards I’d expect at a 4 star hotel. And it’s the same with the bathroom, it really needed a decent scrub or spray of bleach to make the tile grout not look grubby. I’d also expect the bathroom towels in a 4 start hotel not to be like thin gym towels.

Each time I went in or out of the hotel, there were people either hanging around or near the entrance to the hotel smoking. Not on the footpath, but up the stairs next to the hotel door. That really made coming and going to the hotel unpleasant.

If you’re a light sleeper, the hotel is on a busy road. During my stay there was a construction site across the road which made a bit of noise early in the morning and there is pretty much non stop traffic. The hotel does not have double glazing and the old windows are pretty thin.

The hotel is an old building that has had a revamp a while ago, and it’s starting to look tired again. The hotel is not really bad, but in my opinion does not meet 4 start standards. I really felt tricked by the photography into believing this hotel was far better than it was in reality.

My stay began by first of all getting stuck in the lift on the way to my room, rang the receptionist and she didn’t seem to worried and it felt like it happened regularly. Room was okay, defiantly not a 4 star room, 2 maximum. The next morning I got stuck in the lift again on my way down from my room, twice in one day.
Water was not provided in the room and when I asked for water at reception I was told it was $4 a bottle, complete joke. Only good thing I have to say is the hotel was in a good location.

Also waited over 2 weeks for my security deposit to be returned into my account.

We’ve booked for 3 adults + 1 baby and asked for a cot and we've been provided with a room where neither the cot, nore the additional bed, fitted in! At the arrival, we realised that there were no facilities to enter with a pram; there was only one entrance with stairs. Same issue to access to the pool, where there is no shaded area. The hotel is dated and nothing like what you see in the pictures, especially the pool! Very disappointing to showcase pictures which don’t reflect reality.
