Coombe Yarra Valley

Did a wine tasting before eating at the restaurant and both were excellent experiences. The chap doing the wine tasting was very knowledgeable and the wines were impeccable.
At the restaurant, the food was outstanding and so was the service.

Beautiful long weekend lunch - literally can’t fault a thing. Service was fantastic, food was delicious and the wine superb. I don’t know how we haven’t visited sooner. Thank you, we will be back.

Visited Coombe for lunch and wine tasting over the weekend. We had a warm greeting when we arrived and were seated straight away. I wasn’t keen on the room as it felt a little like a food hall, huge, very loud and a little chaotic. The staff were all friendly and helpful, but unfortunately it was very disorganised. It took the best part of half an hour to even have our drinks ordered, the staff didn’t seemed to know who needed what etc.
The food however was all delicious, and beautifully presented. This definitely saved the experience!

We then went next door to the cellar door and had a totally different experience! Great vibe in there. All the wines were delicious, and we were served by a lovely guy (I’m sorry I can’t remember his name) who guided us through the tasting, suggesting wines and giving us lots of information about them

Very poor experience, booked online for the Devonshire tea and garden walk, showed up and they advised that the garden was closed and that they “didn’t realise we’d booked the garden tour as they don’t check bookings until the day”! Totally understand that things close/cancel BUT to travel all that way after having booked and not be told in advance not to come was completely ridiculous! As you’d expect, we did not stay for the Devonshire tea portion! Will not return, much better places for service and morning tea that will actually honour/respond to bookings made on their website!

Today my kids took me to Coombe for Mother's day for their high tea. It should have been fabulous, but wasn't! The food was good, but the service was non existent. After 20 minutes of being bypassed we finally asked for something to drink. After another 5 minutes the waitress arrived with our glass of champagne, we again had to ask for a refill and then when the restaurant was nearly empty, I sought out a waitress for our tea and coffee! The lack of service means I will not be back nor recommending Coombe to anyone.

Best wines in the region. Customers service was impeccable and we learnt a lot about the wine making process and history of the Coombe estate. The wine tasting selection on the day was fantastic and we even got to try a London Dry Gin, which we purchased in addition to our favourite the 2019 Polo Rogue. Such a nice pinot noir that's light but not watery and lots of red cherry flavours. We can't wait to go back!

The food is amazing! Drink fantastic and we enjoyed very much visiting this place for the first time! Highly recommended!

I think there is a better way to deal with certain situations rather than your staff yelling at kids.

We went for the Garden Tour and Lunch on Sunday, it was lovely. The tour was excellent) (some people were told to sush as they talked the whole way) great knowledge and well paced. Food was delicious, service was excellent. I would recommend.

The stunning hedges at Coombe made for a lovely entrance. We originally just wanted to stop by for a quick wine tasting and ended up staying to enjoy the oysters and a glass in the courtyard. Oysters were fresh and came with a lovely vinaigrette.

Plenty of parking. Lovely customer service. Glad they could fit us in as we didn’t make a booking.

The coffee was good, the scones lovely. Only thing obviously staff members birthday so they sang happy birthday quite loudly then stood around eating cake/slice. Not very professional.

Delicious 4 scones that were $20 with perfect views, however front of house were very unwelcoming towards us but weren't to others upon observation. The waitresses/waiters were lovely though.

Lovely atmosphere, kid friendly, the staff were very attentive and the food was pretty good, although it would have been great to see a better selection of entrees.

Our visit to Coombe for lunch today was spectacular from the warm welcome provided by the gentleman at the reception, to the lovely staff that served our lunch. We will be back!

Tried to get a glass of wine at 3pm and was given the cold shoulder by the staff at the cellar door. Not only did they not tell us when we sat down that everything was closed - but they were also rude. This used to be one of our fav pet friendly wineries. But we are definitely not going to set foot here again. There’s plenty of other wonderful wineries that are much more welcoming to spend money at.

What an overrated experience. The 4.3 star rating that made us drive in was never evident during the whole experience.

I wouldn't recommend Coombe Yarra Valley. I am sorry for saying this, but the service at the start was terrible, no one to serve us, people walked in after us and they were served first. Foods, wines were meh too!

Stay away and try other wineries that are much better in the area.

I will remember this as the most boring dining ever!

We booked an afternoon tea and found that the sandwiches were really good, scones a tad dry for my taste and sweets were just so so. The staff at the front was a tad unfriendly in my opinion but the staff who served us were very friendly and efficient. I'm a bit perplexed by the restriction to the garden by guided tours only. Surely the garden should be made part of the experience and open whenever the restaurant is open.

A stunning setting that became the perfect place for my youngest daughter's recent wedding. I cannot thank all the staff for going above and beyond the call of duty to make it a special day for all concerned with a special shout out to Sarah for her calm professional ism on the big day. We are very grateful for your outstanding efforts.

Stunning, the food words cant describe the presentation, quality and flavour of food. The gardens abiance, the museum and the cellar. All the staff professional and friendly. It was our waitresses first day and she was excellent. Best lunch with my very pregnant daughter in law.

My twin sister and I celebrated our birthday at Coombe with a gorgeous High Tea in the Clocktower. The location and parking are great. The estate itself appears like from a fairytale. Not only were the booking staff accommodating and patient with our multiple changes (shout out to Dylan), but on the day our wait staff were flawless and second to none (shout out to Amanda!). The selection of goodies was just perfect with the free flowing Coombe Sparkling, my sister absolutely adored the sparkling they even bought some to take home. The scones were our fave, even catering for gluten free and other food allergies! Would definitely recommend, is reasonably expensive but was well worth it for their service, location and food. Thank you and we will definitely be back again!
