Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston reviews
88Great location. Good hotel close to everything so you can walk to to town, shops and restaurants.
The room was dark and the only light was from a floor kamp, not very clean and tired. The bathroom had mould and the taps had no restraining nut. The front desk service was surly.
Megan at the front desk was lovely. She helped resolve a small issue by moving us into a new room, with no fuss and a friendly smile. Good location and $6 parking (per day) in an open lot next door. Looking forward to the free buffet breakfast tomorrow (booked through Qantas).
Accommodation was very comfortable the staff were great and the service was good. The breakfast and dinner that was included was delicious and very enjoyable.
Excellent stay we were on floor 6 great view of the area, rooms were extremely clean and the bathroom was very clean, loved the extra touches in our room of fresh fruit and bottled water, The buffet breakfast was excellent with everything fresh and well stocked good value for the money, easy access to the parking with your luggage, close to the CBD definitely will stay with Hotel Grand Chancellor when we next visit Launceston,
Thank you for making our stay very enjoyable
Pros:
Good location
Buffett breakfast
Lovely reception area
Bar
Nice rooms - spacious
A large desk if you need to work and a couch and extra seat if you don't want to sit on the bed.
Clean
24/7 room service menu
Parking - also a con though
Nice towels and basic amenities like tea and coffee in the room.
Extra bench are for storing your suitcases
Nice and quiet rooms, private.
Friendly staff
Cons:
Parking - whilst there is parking avail at a discounted rate, it's also a public parking lot, so you might pay for parking but it doesn't guarantee parks will be available in it.
The beds were very very hard. Thankfully I found a thick spare blanket in the room that I was able to fold under me to make it bearable to sleep.
The shower pressure wasnt good but the bath was lovely.
The rooms are quite dark, all the light is basically supplied by the lamps in the room as the only ceiling light in the room (not the bathroom that has lights!) Was near the hallwayish entry section into the room, so it was hard to get decent light in the room part itself in the evenings.
The room service menu was pretty expensive, which maybe you'd expect there but I was put off by the prices.
Attentive staff.
Lovely rooms.
Copy bed and pillows.
Great food and beaut Happy Hour.
Clean and nice service. Stay if you need a clean bed and a good location otherwise the 80's called and need their hotel back
Excellent buffet breakfast every thing was fresh friendly staff great location was on the sixth floor excellent views
Fantastic location and good ambience. There is an opportunity to provide a bit more storage in the family rooms. The breakfast is a standard buffet - good stuff. Great value for money.
Friendly staff, reasonable food and drink. Hotel rooms are a little tired but some of the bathrooms have been updated.
Late room availability and waste bag with waste left in the hand basin. Polite and generally helpful staff.
A great hotel in Launceston. Clean, well located and helpful staff. Will revisit again next time in Launceston.
The restaurant dinner was amazing, one of the best meals I've had in Launceston, just superb. Thank you to the chef, Ethan who recommended this dish behind the bar very professional and kind, and all the bar staff. This made up for the first day. The reception staff on arrival need to be kind and friendly as really let's the rest of the hotel down. It is natural sometimes for customers to ask questions without being met with rudeness. Please have attention to this area as this beautiful hotel deserves all areas to be amazing. Customer service makes any place. Thanks again for the superb dinner. The 5 stars is for the dinner. Note a fresh coffee not from a machine for breakfast would be better.
The foyer bar / lounge is a low key, out of the way place to have a quiet coffee. Ideal if you want to enjoy having a chat without having to strain to hear over the hustle and bustle of the trendier but often just plain loud coffee shops.
Good service, nice lunch, reasonably priced and a very quiet venue. The lunch menu is not extensive but offers reasonable amount of choice.
Nice big rooms and close to areas of convenience and a short walk from the park. Parking lot is spacious and staff were friendly and helpful.
I don’t understand, perhaps the service staff can assist me to understand how they can forget two people dining at their restaurant. Our entree arrived, but then the service just dropped out. Nobody came over to take our empty entree plates, nobody asked if we needed a drink refill. Our mains arrived forty minutes later and we had to prompt the staff who weren’t even keen to smile or do anything humanly possible. Pathetic service. Don’t bother.
The lobby was the only 4 star feature of this hotel. The rooms are worn, the bathrooms poorly fitted with mismatched tapware and dripping taps. Empty mini bar. Tea and coffee not fully stocked. Missing bathroom linen. Stained covers on bed. Inaccessible powerpoints for charging devices. Nil assistance to unload bags and sloping entryway with no cart access unless you lean it against your car. Very average hotel but the city is lovely.
As mentioned by other reviewers, the service is terrible. The booking staff and manager we had attend to our issues were arrogant, rude and extremely unhelpful to the point of being insulting. My family has been staying here for over 12 years, but sadly this hotel will no longer be our home away from home.
This has been a blessing in disguise as there are many charming, friendly, modern and clean accommodation providers in Launceston now! So take your money and time elsewhere and have a nicer experience)
