Animal Welfare League SA (AWL) reviews
107Went to AWL today first time since renovating. Worst experience ever. No help. No sign to tell you where to go or what to do. Ended up walking out. Waste of time going there. No customer service what so ever.
Wonderful experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fairly smooth process. Had to wait about 1 hr from my appointment time, but otherwise no problems. Love my new puppa.
Great cause stupid new rules now u need to go to website choose the 1 u want to see make apt to c that exact animal but if someone else adopts it first your apt is cancelled and u r not given choice to keep apt but c a different animal they say no go back to website and go through it all again I walked away not adopting an animal
Even though you can't walk through the Kennels anymore without booking a appointment. Please consider AWL as a option for New home and New Life.
First time visiting since the upgrade. Have to say customer service (or non existant service) was terrible. Had no idea what I needed to do to see the dogs as there was noone interested in helping. Can't say I will be returning
Great staff and really nice place! Got to adopt a lovely little cat with no issues at all and so much great advice and support given!
So rude here.
We went here this morning to look at adopting a kitten we are 1st time animal owners. So we didn’t know what the procure was. We signed in and waited in line only to be approached by a staff member and told to get out side and wait, she didn’t speak to the people who pushed infront of us like that and they weren’t kicked out.it was pretty rude and she had a bad attitude. We left and will never adopt a pet from here. We will go else where. I don’t care who you are I will not be spoken to or treated like that.
We collected our two dogs yesterday after a month and are very happy with their condition. They are both happy and not stressed, they’ve both lost a bit of weight which they needed! Most of all, the staff were brilliant, Tanya in particular who is so dedicated and an asset to the AWL team. I was so pleased that they have volunteers visiting the animals in their care because it meant lots of human interaction which I guess every animal there needs. I would be delighted to have them care for my dogs again.
I have recently death with welfare league
My son has a disability adopted a cat
It had a sore on its side
This hasn't healed and is going to cost around $1000 to fix including vet visit and an operation
I asked for assistance and none was given
I am very upset with their lack of support seems after adoption the welfare stops
And my son is very depressed about all this

It was over an hour wait both times I went to view for adoptions. I suppose it is good for the animals to have that volume of ppl to be there but I think could have a appt schedule
Great dedicated facility, really nice staff. Please ring animal welfare league, they will answer your questions and direct you what you can do in your particular situation, they're there to help in all matters with all the animals. (they don't take bedding no more not hygienic l guess! "
Not happy with AWL. Surrendered a destructive cat, but got the third degree as to why we didn't contact them for training, and generally why didn't we try harder with it. Made to feel like criminals.
You can feel that they are genuinely passionate in animals. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. They also provide a lot of animal care brochures and information for adoptees.
Unfortunately the catery has not been upgraded yet but the old building is suffice. The staff are really friendly and the cats look cosy but comfortable. Have used them a few times and pricing is about the same across Adelaide. My go to play when I need boarding
I was greeted politely & attended with great customer service. I look forward to going back soon to adopt my fur baby
Great to visit the AWL boarding Centre to introduce my new pup who has separation issues. I appreciated the opportunity to introduce her to staff and for her to become familiar with the surroundings before I board her. Thankyou. My last two Shepherds were always happy to board at the AWL.
Great place. Took in a stray I'd been trying to catch for weeks. A local vet directed me here so I wasn't aware I had to be in before 2pm to drop off the little cat. They took her regardless and were gentle and kind with her. Hopefully either her parents find her or she finds a new home with loving people. Great staff, access to hand sanitizer, hilarious chonk poster. Marty was especially awesome!
It's around 50 years ago that my mum and dad took me to the AWL to adopt our family cat. How different it all is now! The facilities are so modern and well-designed. The accommodation for the cats is respectful of their needs for companionship, privacy, and care. Emma took us around and was very sensitive in how she introduced the cats to us. We adopted a timid pair, brother and sister, who we felt might not find a home as quick as the more playful and outgoing ones, and who would be suited to life in a quiet home.
Our 2 dogs were recently guests in Boarding. The videos sent to us while we were away assured us they were comfortable and happy and we could just tell they had been given lots of attention and love when we picked them up. The staff knew their little habits and personalities and gave us such comfort knowing they had been close enough with them to learn that.
I have adopted my last 4 cats from the Animal Welfare League. They really care about the welfare of the animals not just the one that are alive and in their care but the ones who have passed away. Not only do I adopt from them but I also use their cremation services. The people at the AWL treat you and your deceased pet with the utmost respect, I wouldn't go any else.
