Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour reviews
97We loved our stay and received the best service ever. We were lucky enough to be looked after by Alex and Katherine. Thank you both for looking after us so well. We will be back!
Great staff at this hotel made the experience a very good one. From check in, through breakfast and drinks at the bar, we always got exceptional service. The room was as expected (compact but nice) and it was handy having parking across the street. Breakfast is good to, though it seemed to alternate in how much was provided based on the number of guests (eg on a weekend morning offering a larger range than on weekdays).
Loved the super funky decor. Comfy bed. Decent size room. The whole feel of the hotel though is just cool.
Reception was so attentive and lovely to relay with during my stay and vey much made an effort to make sure my comfort was priority.
The restaurant downstairs was +
It took two weeks for me to get my deposit back which is the only reason fir 4 stars. But otherwise, great stay.
This was brilliant.
Such a great stay and so relaxing!
My husband and I stayed here after a wedding and I am pregnant and the only thing I wanted was a snack. And with the free snacks it saved me at a late check in with no shops open!
The staff were lovely and the stay was so comfortable. I will be back!
Awesome boutique hotel on the more "industrial" side of the harbour, friendly service, clean and tidy rooms, and great soundproofing on the windows, was unable to hear traffic noise from the city nearby. Will gladly visit again!
Quirky hotel not far from Darling Harbour. Rooms have exposed wooden beams and exposed bricks to give it an industrial looks and feel. We were greeted at reception by the lovely Katherine who was so helpful and friendly. She made us feel very welcome. Check out the bottom of the lift well, the room numbers and the lolly stash. Oh, one more thing. The mini bar is free.
This might not be 5 Star in the usual way, shiny marble entry way, convertible Bently parked out front etc. But it feels good, no other way to describe it. Rough and casual, but clean and wow, everything worked as it was supposed to. Free Mini bar is a nice touch. Waking to a fresh cold Orange juice without worrying it may cost a bomb, is something you don't see in Oz.
King room was a little cozier than most others, but not really a deal breaker.
Close to Darling Harbour, parking is across the road.
It's a good place, give it a try.
I'll stay here again.
Tried to go there for a bit of lunch and they don't do lunch. Also, although the hotel is opened they don't serve dinner on mondays. Super weird or maybe they don't care about the locals and only cater to hotel customers.
Great hotel. Stayed over new years eve, we were given a goodies bag and glow sticks. The free mini-bar is a nice touch along with no issues in extending checkout time.
Loved this place! All the staff are friendly and very accommodating to requests, allowing late check out. The atmosphere in the lobby and room is great, with modern NYC loft vibes. Also very clean, no complaints there. The freebies in the room are a great touch you never get to experience in hotels. Would definitely recommend and stay at again!
FYI, stayed in Feb (finally got round to giving it a review)
Having stayed in 1-5 star hotels throughout the world this boutique hotel was a stunning surprise. It's not opulence that makes for a great hotel, it's the simple things done extremely well. The outside of the building is quite unassuming but that changes the second you walk through the door - the look of the place, the feel of the place and the welcome you receive (I actually don't want to say too much and spoil it). Rooms are a good size, comfy beds, big bathrooms, a free minibar (yep, it's true). But it's the little things that have the biggest impact - heated bathroom mirror to clear the steam, an Alexa Dot to play music, set an alarm and tell you weather forecast, even Apple TV if you want. Breakfast was a self served European style with lots of quality produce. They even have a free happy hour at the bar for guests. I guess the easiest way to sum up the place is that even though you come to visit Sydney, you have the urge to stay and enjoy the hotel. And as for brand loyalty, I'm hooked - this is my new benchmark.
Funky atmosphere and good bar food and wine list. Love staying here, especially the free lolly bar. Super comfortable place to stay.
Ovolo 1888 was just what I was looking for, a place to stay that has character, culture and courtesy. The wait and reception staff are great, personable and polite. The rooms are clean (I'm a stickler for clean and tidy) and the decor is unique, quirky and supportive of local artists. I was fortunate enough to witness the celebration of a guests 100th return. That's proof that this place honours their guests and clients. I'll be going back for sure.
The restaurant was excellent and the location great. Good sized clean rooms and some interesting extras.
Although the rooms in this hotel are very small and cramped, it is a great hotel for business stays. The service is always excellent and the team very friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect too.
I had a wonderful stay here at Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour last week. This hotel has good customer service, the room were all clean and has well maintained bathroom. The location is good as well as it is near the city centre and public transit.
Convenient location and very friendly and helpful staff! The vast array of things included with your room is a very nice touch.
I stayed here while I was attending a 3 day academy. The room I was in was amazing. There were so many nice little touches to make me feel at home and relaxed. I really enjoyed the loot bags. The decor in the room was comforting and homely. The service from the staff was amazing. The breakfasts were good and there were a variety of options. I was also within walking distance of a lot of shops, restaurants and Darling Harbour, which was a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I'd stay here again if I had the chance!
My go to hotel in Sydney. Funky rooms, lots of perks for booking directly; free.minibar, swag bag of snacks, happy hour and breakfast included.
A really unique and lovely hotel, great place, great people and lots of lovely surprises along the way.
Free mini-bar, free happy hour in the beuatifully designed bar and even a free toothbrush when you discover you left yours at home!
