Interesting design, very small rooms, nice bathroom. I stayed two night here for a work trip and the location was within walking distance of where our meetings were. The decor was very funky including the down-lit room numbers, and art works in the room. Rainfall shower head was excellent however you had to dash out to get soap and shampoo. I am not sure how much it cost so i can’t really comment on value for money.

I've stayed here many times without an issue, but ran into a few problems this time. On the plus side the staff are super friendly, and the hotel generally well maintained, but that's where the service ends. We booked a loft room for around $550 which had a secondary airconditioner that couldn't be turned off, so cold we had trouble sleeping. There were stains on the sofa and a squished contact lens on the side table. Room service had a very short list of terrible options and was only available 5 days a week. I'm not sure you can market yourself as a luxury 5 star boutique hotel if you're not even delivering coffee to the room 2 days a week. I wrote to the hotel sharing the experience and they didn't even bother to respond. You'll find much better value at this price with their key competitors across town. At best, their low priced rooms do provide good value (a fair 4 star experience) - just don't expect more than the room itself. Someone else described the hotel as a crash pad which I think is highly accurate.

Value for money, great experience and unique
Liked · Location was great, really close to parking across the street (which is $50/24hr period, you can enter/leave as you like!) lobby/bar is super chic, comfortable and overall has a great atmosphere. Staff super friendly and helpful, receptionist 24/7 to assist with extra supplies or late check ins. Room itself was spacious for 2 people with 4 suitcases! Bathroom great size, plenty of room for cosmetics and toiletries. Heaps of bench space, toilet behind door Room included luggage rack, iron, Apple TV, mini fridge with complimentary soft drink water and tea (you can ask reception for any extras or dial 9 from your room phone) Heaps of hanging space in wardrobe, areas to sit at a desk and make calls/do some work. Really impressed with quality of room and # of electrical sockets! Handy for all of our devices for sure. Noise travels in the hallways but light does not! Room can be completely blacked out for a great night sleep! Good soft l pillows and linens too Bonus live jazz in the bar on Thursday nights and a candy bar (score!) in the lobby anytime for guests which was super great late at night Will definitely stay here again, great vibe and cute hotel with artistic features everywhere that are so much better than a plain white wall! Also appreciate full size mirror behind door for last minute fit checks

Disliked · Toilet is a little low, taller people would probably struggle with it. Front door of room could do with soundproofing lots of hallway noise comes through (other doors opening and closing, tvs and conversations Water pressure in shower nice but could be better and possibly needs an exhaust fan to not fog up the mirror
Close to a train station if you aren’t driving

Excellent service from all staff members from the receptionists to the bar staff. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. I would highly recommend a stay here. A really lovely couple of nights. Hopefully we will be back

Everything is just wonderful here. One of the best hotels I've been to! The rooms are beautiful (we took the loft), bed was comfortable, shower is great and the service is excellent
The location is perfect, really close to everything, but quiet enough so we don't hear all the commotion of a busy city.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the faucet in the bathroom was loose and because the noise from the air-conditioning is like a deep white noise that was hard to get used to.
Other than that everything was just great! What a cozy and lovely hotel!

Hmmm. What to say about the Ovolo Woolstore.

This was my second visit to this hotel. I have been a loyal fan of the Ovolo brand since they launched in Australia, having stayed at the flagship Woolloomooloo property several times over the years.

The Woolstore is kind of Ovolo's "secondary" property in Sydney (a Jetstar to Woolloomooloo's Qantas). On this visit, it was a bit disappointing to see that some of the innovations introduced by Ovolo (free mini-bar, in room loot bags etc) have been pared back to the absolute minimum. The free mini-bar now consists of a couple of bottles of water and some coke cans. The in-room loot bag no longer seems to exist (at least I didnt get one) - replaced with self serve lollie jars in the foyer.

I guess they were probably hit pretty hard by the lockdowns and travel restrictions and are trying to save money. But still, it leaves you feeling a little short changed.

Overall, I cant really complain as I got a very good rate on the room. Not sure my review would be so lenient if I had of paid the rack rate (of over $300 pn!) for what is a very small room. I'm still an Ovolo fan but wanting to see some improvement from this brand.

Interesting, funky decor. Very nice bar area. The room was good but quite small. Nice bathroom. Reception was very friendly (24 hour) and it was a great location.

Such a wonder-full experience. So many little things done right to make for an elevated overall experience. Service was so attentive and friendly; it is always evident when staff want to be there.

Got the shoebox room, ok for a one night work trip accomodation for one person. Probably not the best room in the hotel with no external light, only a window that looks into the lobby lounge. Maybe price is abit steep for this particular room.

Quirky hotel with a lovely lounge bar downstairs. You won't find better staff. Very friendly and helpful. Our room needed a bit of attention there was mould in the shower area and also on the ceiling where the air-conditioning blew. The mattress needed replacing it was quite uncomfortable.

Funky building, great staff, tasty food, and a 2 minute walk to Darling Harbour. We'll be back!

Pros - Clean, excellent location, building/architecture was a standout. Receptionists were lovely.
Cons - Bed & pillows are awful (super soft and felt like a sinkhole), waitress needs a lesson in customer service.

Great spot if you need to stay around the area or the star. Great service, beautiful rooms and gorgeous restaurant on ground floor.

Rooms are modern and fun. Lost my earbuds while there and the staff were very helpful. However in my search I discovered that under the beds and some of the cabinet shelves were very very dusty. The cordless phone wouldn't charge and the in room safe was broken.

The staff were kind to my daughter and water bottles were freely given when asked for!

Staff are rude, no one explained breakfast, fire alarm went off at 7am woke up the whole building, no apology from the staff. They charge the room amount then hold an additional $349 on your card pending, so be prepared to be out of pocket $600 for a week until the transaction clears. I called up to ask about it and I was told the manager would call me back, I waited two hours, no one called me back. I then spoke to the manager about how disappointing my experience was and she didn't care she just agued with me. Never agon!

Amazing hotel with a cool aesthetic. Staff were friendly and looked after us for a special occasion, but didn't go through the free mini-bar policy (may be in the process of being revised in future as the website stated "select items" as complimentary, even though it all was when we visited. We will certainly be back.
A bit out of the way for inner city adventures but good to stretch the legs. Great for Darling Harbour.

Perfect location thought it was a great stay, then when I arrived back tp perth realised I left money in safe rang hotel and housekeeping said nothing was left in there, understand it’s my fault for forgetting to get it out but the lack of honesty was very very disappointing, $700 gone just like that

We stayed 2 nights on a package deal through Luxury Escapes and booked back when this place was called Ovolo 1888 Darling Harbour. When we arrived we dealt with a vacant receptionist who, when I asked about the 'loot bag on arrival' that was part of the package, informed me that they 'don't do that any more because [they] changed management '. When I asked when they changed management she changed the narrative to [they] changed names'. I clarified that what she was saying was that they entered into a contract to provide certain inclusions, but since changing their name they no longer felt obligated to comply with the agreement because they were pretending to be someone else. She neither agreed nor denied this proposition. (Nb: do not try this at home - changing your name does not make you someone else who has no responsibility for the contractual arrangements that you have freely entered into. And yes, I am a lawyer.) After this inauspicious start we went up to our room. It was tiny. It has cool and edgy design, as have the common spaces, albeit the paint and decor are very dark accentuating the smallness of the space. We went down to social hour, another package inclusion, where we expected to receive 2 free drinks and a plated snack. The drinks were forthcoming from the very personable barman, but there was no plated snack. I put this down to the aforementioned pretending to be someone else phenomenon without asking. The problem is that, as far as I could see, there was no food available to purchase at all, eg chips, nuts or any type of bar snack, just vast quantities of alcohol. Maybe responsible service of alcohol guidelines are different in NSW to where we come from? There is an Alexa provided in the room and that first night, at 2.30am, Alexa promptly started playing music. Obviously some jolly joker thought that would be an absolute wheeze for the room occupants. We had already found that the room was hot and stuffy if set to 21 degrees, but sub-arctic if set to 20 degrees. At 2.30am it had swung to sub-arctic. We looked for a spare blanket (not much space to search). There of course was not one. We didn't sleep for the rest of the night as we couldn't raise the temperature and there was also a regular clicking noise in the room. By morning we realised that there is no quilt on the bed. It was just a thin blanket between the 2 sheets. The buffet breakfast is just sad and pathetic. It reminded me of the offerings of backpacker hostels from my youth. Cornflakes and sultana bran, bowls of ham, tomato, cucumber and cold hard boiled eggs. The bread looked like supermarket homebrand. We ordered coffee which was barrista made but truly terrible. The kitchen is open so we could see the 2 male chefs standing idle in there, scrolling through their phones and chatting audibly. Their language was profane and consisted of discussion of how fu#*%^g useless Australia is. Our second night seemed to be looking up when we were actually given a plate containing a slice of bread, some salami, cherry tomatoes and baby mozzarella balls with drinks. However that night at around 11pm a screeching/grinding noise started up in the air conditioning duct. When it did not abate my husband went down to reception. The night receptionist, Sam, was an absolute star. Employee of the year in our opinion and he moved us to another room. This room was much larger with much better amenity but unfortunately was also vety difficult to heat. It was another sleepless night. Another part of our package was midday checkout. Just before 10am there was a knock at the door followed immediately by 2 female cleaners bursting into the room where my husband was getting dressed. They said they'd come back. Upon our return at 11.45am they burst in again and I told them we had midday checkout. At 11.59am I got a call from reception telling me that there were unattended bags in the room and asking where we were. Simultaneously a man knocked on the door.
