Ginninderra Medical & Dental Centre

Made an appointment to get a whooping cough shot (was told on the phone any of the med staff at the practice can do that - nurse, doctor, whatever). Went in and was greeted by the very kurt curt reception who asked me to take a seat. I sat there for half an hour while everyone around me was called up. I then went up to the desk to ask what was going on and was told I'd be next, the doctor was on a phone call. I asked if anyone was available to stick the needle in my arm, this was quickly dismissed. So I sat down again and another 30 minutes goes by. By this point I just resigned myself to the fact that I would not be getting my shot that morning. I went up to the desk and asked one more time if anyone else might be able to see me soon and was told they can put my on next available but everyone was backed up with appointments and there would be no guarantee I'd be able to see someone anytime soon. Just bafflingly bad - zero acknowledgement from anyone there that having me sit there for an hour might be bad, and that suggesting even more time waiting for a whooping cough needle was reasonable. What's the point of an appointment system even at that point?

Giving 2 stars because the lady on the phone was nice when I called to make the appointment.

Having been there many times I find all the staff n doctors fairly helpful.
Yes there is a bit of a waiting time but that's to be expected in a large clinic.
The good thing is everything is under the same roof

Great experience at Ginninderra today. Dr Begum was supportive with my needs and reception staff Leanne and Cindy very friendly and welcoming. Huge improvement since Linda and Abbi took management

I have been a patient of this practice for many years and find the new management and staff nothing but wonderful and far from the previous disgusting comment.
The Dr's here are very caring and seem to be always running on time and listen to my concerns. Negative comments im assuming are personal towards the staff

I am so happy you have bulk billing back again and the Doctor i now see is fantastic. The nurses are very good and there is never a long wait anymore. All the staff are very welcoming on arrival also.still horrible parking but overall excellent clinic.

This medical centre is the worst run in Canberra!
Every time I visit the centre, there is only one person on reception, whilst two to three other “receptionist” are too busy talking out the back. The obese lady who sits in the office, finds it funny and calls over the anorexic one to laugh at people waiting in line.
This WILL be taken to the Humans Right Commission as this is not right!
It seems like reception on weekdays do not want to work and need an attitude adjustment. Weekend reception are far better.
The doctors are good, that’s the only reason I attend.

On 3 occasions in the last 2 weeks I have waited for an hour after my scheduled appointment time to be seen. Today I realised that for one doctor it's because he goes out to have a cigarette break between patients, with the smell of cigarette smoke hanging heavy in the air in his consult room.

Great service! I think they’ve made a few changes for the better, not long waiting times (only waited 25min), very helpful receptionists, and we can book appointments now before you could not.

Excellent service from front desk staff, even had the manager come and help with an issue I had. Will return

I’m so sorry to post this but i was charged to just get my normal blood test results. As the doctor has said it will be free if i have normal report. In the appointment day the doctor was running late and the reception state me i am happy to see another doctor and i also say her the doctor has said its free for if the result come negative. I wasn’t told about paying when i go but they charge me while coming back with my normal blood test result. Its my good lesson from next time to get my blood test result in my own email.

It was my first time seeing a doctor at the Ginninderra medical center, the receptionist was absolutely amazing. Dr Begum was recommended to me by a friend and she was absolutely amazing as well. I would highly recommend anyone to go to the Ginninderra medical center

My appointment was 50 minutes late. I was only there to get a repeat of my prescription, which I was able to do over the phone for the last 3 years but now have to do a face to face appointment. The best part is getting to line up again, after my appointment which was 50 minute late, to receive my receipt.

Very professional. Very efficient. No bulk billing, but then again, if the Govt won't lift the amount paid to GPs, what can you expect.

No longer bulk billing and charge at least $30 more than most other centres in the Belconnen area

Awful place that has recently stopped bulk billing and now charges $100 per consult. A lot of 5 star reviews for a place with a 2.3 rating, none of which provide any explanation of have left reviews elsewhere.

Long wait times and the quality of advice is seriously variable.

Always have a good experience here, all the doctors are helpful and don't hesitate to refer you for scans (if needed). Dr Momotaj Begum was excellent - she listened to my concerns and then prescibed medication based on my feedback, rather than just dismissing my experience (which has happened with other doctors). She urged me to follow-up in a few days if things weren't improving, and gave me a referral for a scan for further investigation. I really appreciated her taking my concerns seriously, and providing me with many options for investigation and treatment. Would definitely see her again.

Something has changed here. So much better. Reception staff assisted and were both so friendly. Massive improvement.what ever management has done, keep going.

Usually pretty happy with this centre as long as I am able to see my GP. However, every time I try to book he's not there. No notification or indication as to when he will return. Also, trading hours being reduced to 6pm is completely unreasonable. It was always good knowing that I didn't have to take sick leave to see a Doctor. No wonder the hospitals are overcrowded with common issues.

Linda is so warm and welcoming and makes the experience not so stressful. She’s truly an asset to the team!

It is a pity that the medical practice did not inform its clients that fees where going to be charged from last December onwards. It is a rude shock to make and appt and be told this. Nor have they bothered to give a schedule of fees for different types of service.
