Young George reviews
80Love the service and the venue - we have been here a few times now and have enjoyed ourselves on each occasion.
Great vibe, great service, great food, open late! Haven't been here before but the guy at the door actually convinced us to come in and we didn't regret it. Deep fried chicken sliders were fantastic, beef chop chop was good if that's your thing. Potatoes were epic and the chicken was nice. Def go
Young George is the perfect spot for creative, flavoursome and well cooked share plates. The servings are carefully paired to have a contrast of textures and medely of flavours.
On top of the food, the staff are warm and welcoming, and very attentive, making an excellent service.
Here's a great spot to enjoy a nice evening out with friends & family.
Overall the food is average.
Don’t order the beef crackle as it’s too salty and it’s just like eating air. Not much flavour at all.
Don’t order the duck egg either.it’s literally one medium deep fried egg with a bit of ricotta cheese and some paste around it. The egg was way over cooked. It was $28.
The wagyu beef was good.
Very overpriced.
Food was nice but expensive for very very small portions. The coffee was also very bad, undrinkable. I would not order food from here again.
We had a fantastic dining experience sharing plates that were outstanding and fair priced. Kudos to Elanor (sp) ? Or Elle for making such a fun night. Thx from all of us
Great menu with good variety of options. All the dishes tried were amazing, will definitely be back to try more. Highly recommended.
Great experience, an excellent venue for a function, there was plenty of food and a variety of tasty finger foods. The staff were all lovely. The underground rooms were perfect for our group.
Terrific restaurant tucked away in a quiet corner in Freo. The meals and wine list were outstanding, highly recommended
Every dish was amazing, so full of flavour. Our waitress was lovely and so helpful in choosing dishes. Will be back as wanted to try everything on the menu!
Up from the country and this team is so good.
Service, food, drinks and ambience all in a line.
Home away from Home for us.
Winter Solstice is normally a gathering for a reunion dinner being the most important festival of the year. Traditionally because of the harsh winters after harvest, the elderly and very young ones may not survive the year, and a huge effort is made to gather everyone for the evening. This year we chose to celebrate out and try a new place (new, at least to us).
There was a big crowd as we entered, and we were ushered downstairs to the basement floor which had a cosy and almost an European ambiance. The staff were friendly and got us to a good start with a simple printed menu and drinks list. No fancy names, just upfront descriptions of the food served.
Food was very well-plated. The portions were a little small for sharing plates, but was so well prepared, we were happy to order a few more dishes. The star of the night was the Nachos Tartare, and the Wagyu pizza came a close second. The scallop was a little overdressed with what appeared to be Thousand Island sauce. Other than that, all the other dishes were good.
The wine list was decent and we managed to get a New Zealand Pinot Noir which went well with what we ordered. Wine knowledge and serving could be better, but friendly service made up for it.
I passed by the open wood fire pizza oven, and gave a thumbs up to the chef manning the stove. He laughed and said, that it was not his normal station. He definitely did justice to his temporary stint.
All in all, a good place worth coming for another visit.
Love this place! Each time we dine here the food is impeccable:) service is amazing and the low lighting makes for a lovely intimate atmosphere
Went here before moombaki light show, great ambience / great experience, recommend wholeheartedly
Great venue and service. Charcuterie board with added cheese.great combo. Good company, good vibe.
Super delicious food with good size portions and great service. Will definitely be coming back.
The roast was fantastic with the house Shiraz, so was the blue cheese and Barsol Pisco made a good finish. A very inviting atmosphere
The talent is unmatched inside this cosy venue. Nourishing and nurturing (with their waste-less philosophy). Looking forward to coming back again to try the rest of the menu!
What a great find! Food was superb! A quirky menu which is a refreshing change to the usual cafe/pub food. Nice cocktsil and wine list too.
The duck with ricotta dumpling was beautiful. The flavour of the duck coming through with a punch of pepper. The tasty dumpling balanced out the richness.
The lamb neck had a delicious glaze served with a tangy mint sauce and roasted pumpkin
Finished off with a yummy apple donut in a sticky caramel glaze and a good coffee.
A lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon and I look forward to going back and working my way through the menu and cocktail list.

My partner and I went to Young George tonight for her birthday, and from start to finish the experience was phenomenal.
We were greeted by a very friendly waiter who seated us at the bar and made sure we were attended to while our table was finished being prepared. The place was packed, being a Saturday night, yet the staff were efficient and still took the time to provide great service.
Our waiter explained in welcome detail the aspects of the menu and was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the food on offer.
We had the milk bun chicken, beef tartar, scallops, octopus, and potatoes. Each and every dish was perfectly cooked and had a unique and great flavour. All of them were delicious, but my highlights were the scallops and octopus. The scallops were so fresh, and I don't think I've ever had octopus that tender.
The chefs and all members of staff should be commended for the quality of experience they put out. We'll definitely be back.
