The Unusual Pet Vets reviews
62Always well looked after here, kind and compassionate and well stocked. My bunnies are well looked after here.
The last time I took my bunny they said she was required to stay overnight. The next day I brought her home after a huge vet bill of nearly $500 for nothing more than a tummy upset from apparently a teaspoon of fruit I gave her. A few days later I find that she was peeing blood so I took her to another emergency vet and they diagnosed her with a urinary tract infection. This should have been picked up in the initial visit. This is unacceptable. I wont be going back here I do not trust them anymore.
Absolutely amazing staff! They are all so caring, supportive and professional. I had to provide palliative care for two of my older rabbits & the information & support I received from the staff was incredible.
10/10 would recommend
plus my rabbits give them the big ️ of approval, so really that's the main thing.
Our little rabbit Oreo was very sick this past weekend and we can’t thank the staff at The Unusual Pet Vets enough for their wonderful work at making him feel better and trying to work out what the problem was. They were so caring to us all, and kept us informed about how he was going and also as to what the medical costs were. We highly recommend them and will definitely go there if we ever need to again even though we live a long way from the clinic. Oreo is home now and hopefully on the way to feeling like himself again.
Thank you to Dr Yang for her attempt to help and care my rabbit Lola. Even though it wasn’t the result we hoped and prayed for Dr Yang was very caring and professional with Lola even letting my mother and I having our last moments with her. We couldn’t be more grateful for that. Even sending us a condolence card in the mail. Dr Yang and team are highly recommended.
Very sypathetic and knowledgable vet.was very gentle and caring at the end and let her sister say her good byes so she knew she jusy hadn't deserted her.
They were very professional and kept me updated while my little piggie was in for surgery. Thank you to everyone who helped my piggie!
They helped my rat recover from respiratory disease. My rat honestly looked like she was on her last legs and 7 hours later she was pretty much back to her normal self eating, drinking and being cheeky. I'm so grateful to this team. Expensive but worth every cent.
Great staff and wonderful doctors, so helpful and caring about our pets. Really appreciated the respect and care given to our little friends.
Looks after Bert the Bun, answers over the phone queries for existing customers:) good food selection.
Very impressed by the staff at UPV, they checked my guinea pig Copper over very thoroughly and had alot of knowledge about his gut and dental issues. It may be more expensive than the average vet but the expert care for my guinea pig was definitely worth it. Keep doing an awesome job UPV staff you are all amazing.
Lovely staff and super helpful with humans and patients. Just very lucky to be close to such fantastic vets. Thankyou
I just want to send a shout out to Dr. Sam, i can't thank him enough for his time, care and treatment of my harlequin lop bunny Lil. Lil is my first 'dental bun' and i've been so anxious trying to understand what is happening. Sam was so patient and kind in explaining in depth xray results and Lils condition. He has looked after Lil through surgery to follow ups and gave us both his time without rushing us away. Sam has completely eased my anxiety and made me feel confident that we can manage Lils condition going forward from here. Thanks UPV for having such a wonderful clinic with amazing veterinarians that exotic pet owners can receive specialist care at!
Very caring and understanding people, no matter what kind of pet you have, they treat them with all the same care.
The staff are awesome just can't get over the prices for my pet, I just can't come to terms with it
I has a sick chook and the vets and all staff were amazing they did absolutely everything we could for her will definitely reccomend
Fantastic service, my bird Jasper recieved amazing care, would highly recommend Dr Luke Bradley.
TLDR - Dr Kelly is awesome! Great bedside manner, thorough, and definitely not "in it for the money" as some other reviews of UPV (not Dr Kelly specifically) claim
I was always hesitant to go to UPV for my chronic feather plucking Cockatiel because of the consult fees, some reviews about them (not Dr Kelly) being "in it for the money", and I still haven't bothered to check (or just can't remember) if Dr Kelly is an officially qualified/certified avian vet. 5 years later I wish I'd gone sooner and no longer care as much about a piece of paper.
When my bird's plucking began 5 years ago I was very strapped for cash and taking that into consideration, other avian vets I had visited said doing blood tests would be expensive and in their experience not worth the money. One in particular said they knew the signs and symptoms of what the tests were for and it was hugely unlikely my boy had anything they would test for and thus it wasn't worth my money. I don't want to bad mouth anyone because they are still amazing vets and I have so much love and respect for them, but in this particular experience, I'm so glad I finally saw Dr Kelly.
Dr Kelly didn't give me the "I've seen this disease and that health condition and I know your bird doesn't have it" speel. She was straight away encouraging at least 2 if not 3 tests to start off with. She said it is an absolute must with pluckers - contrary to what other vets had said. I just got some of the bloods back and my bird does in fact have several concerning health issues. Still waiting on further tests to confirm what exactly may be causing these abnormal results. If only we'd done them 5 years ago, it could have saved a lot of money and wasted efforts and medical trials on my poor bird which have only caused him more stress and potentially even damaged his liver even more than it already was.
On top of this, Dr Kelly's bedside manner for me as an anxious owner, and my birds, is top notch. She has spent plenty of uncharged admin time on my bird outside of consults already in collecting all of his previous records from 4 different places and summing them all up, and in responding to a questions I had outside of consults. I get no sense at all that she is "in it for the money" as I have read of some other general reviews of UPV as a whole (not her specifically).
It's only been 2 consults, and will need more, but thank you so much already Dr Kelly!
I cant fault the help and the emergency care given to Colin our guinea pig by the staff at Murdoch. Big thanks to Luke who carried out the emergency op and big thanks to the vet nurses for the post op care.
One of the few places that specialises in rabbits. Our bunnies were taken in while we waited outside which we thought a little odd but they did a good job with their nails and grooming some matted fur.
