The Denmark Tavern reviews
77Not a single main vegetarian option on the menu. They had one vegetarian option on the chef specials but it was $31. Had to get sautéed vegetables whcih we’re listed as vegan but came soaked in butter. Also ordered the chips and gravy as the menu said it comes with a vegan option gravy, got given normal gravy and told that there wasn’t an option for vegan gravy. Not very accommodating at all, staff didn’t seem to care much either and just wanted us to shut up and be happy, not that I even complained. The gardens were beautiful though and beer garden is nice. Don’t let the nature vibe deceive you as they aren’t very accomodating to plant people
Got to Denmark for the long weekend, and saw the menu for the Tavern from our hotel room and it looked delicious. I physically went up and tried to get a booking on a Saturday night on a long weekend, and low and behold, got a table! Couldn't believe how accommodating the staff were. Amazing
Got there at 6pm and ordered the Surf and Turf
OMG!
i have travelled all around the world, and eaten my fair share of steaks, but the one we had that night, was WORLD CLASS!
The best steak i have ever had.
Plus we were looked after by Christina, who was very professional and courteous. She made our meal one to remember as well
Christina, keep up the good work, you are a star, and The Denmark Tavern, thank you for making it an experience i will NEVER forget
Thank you so so much
Very poor and unprofessional service, food too expensive and not enough, and really bad taste, I can't put zero rating because is not allowed me, but I will NEVER go back there!
Lovely place and amazing customer service, entree and drinks arrived within 5 minutes of ordering and mains arrived as we were finishing entree… food was amazing. My only complain is the jelly bean cocktail, made way too strong to the point of not being able to drink it
The Denmark Tavern is the backbone of the food and beverage services in this beautiful town. Always humming with local punters and visitors. Open hours 7 days keep us fed and watered.
Recent renovations and consistent investment in the facility is obvious.
Food is always good and served promptly. New menu is very good and competes with more expensive and less consistent rivals.
Local Artisan Brewery beers on tap are a must. Plenty of local wines available.
Full service bistro dining options for all seasons. Kid and pet friendly in the garden. Regular live music.
Be mindful of kitchen hours and in busy times booking are essential - be kind and patient with the staff - The Tav is booked out most nights.
Love the Tavern.
Great ambience, good selection of wine. Fantastic for families with younger kids with an outdoor play area.will be back to sample the food another time
We rocked up at 5pm for a feed. We ordered a beer and was advised restaurant wasn't open till 530pm.
I went back up and ordered another beer plus to order a feed and was told by the same lady i couldn't order food because they only take bookings.
I said "can i book", she replied "unfortunately not".
I wasn't the only one that got the turned away, and feel for other lads that got let down as well.
The thing that really surpised me was, I decided to call and book. They said sure but there's only a 630pm spot or later.
I would've been more then happy to wait if the lady at bar had said this.couldn't help but laught to me mate. On another note the local fish and chip shop was good.
The surrounding was really beautiful. Food was okay my partner really like his parmy. Service was good.
6 of us went for lunch and the quality of the food that we had was excellent. The salt and pepper squid and the pork ribs were some of the best we have had.
Had dinner here twice in the last 3 days. Amazing food, friendly staff and overall a nice spot:)
Lovely staff. Found us a table in the restaurant even though we didn’t have a booking and it was very busy. Prompt service. Good meal choices for my husband - as a meat eater - but nothing on the menu for vegetarians- other than soup of the day (& I didn’t dare ask what stock they had used) - and a garden salad. It because of the staff they get four stars - when really in 2022 there should be a vego option.
Walked in not realising they only take food orders for bookings only, could see plenty of available tables while standing in the tavern, called to try and book a table for later on in the night when I was told they were fully booked and had no tables available at all throughout the night.no warning on their website regarding pre booking to order food, very poor experience and staff were unhelpful- also no one bothered to check for COVID vacc certificate.
It was a weekday and not busy at all. Took a while for them to serve us, but our food arrived quite promptly.
I ordered the Thai Warm Beef Salad and my partner had the Ribs. Both of us enjoyed our meals immensely.
I had wanted to try the Boston Ginger Beer that was on the menu, but they didn't have it, so I had to order a Peach drink, it was nice and refreshing.
The venue is decorated with war memorabilia and a nice motorbike. There was seating outside but we decided to sit indoors as it was too warm for us with the baby.
Bad experience less then one star
Very Aussie based style, expensive and horrible quality of food and service!
Varied and interesting menu, great food served promptly, reasonable prices. Drink service a little slow, but otherwise a fine experience. Nice decor.
Microwave from frozen. Ordered ribs and chicken schnitzel paid around 60 and it was the most disgusting food I've ever eaten. Ever
Food is great, unfortunately one of the bar staff on the night of our visit was a bit rude towards me but apart from that it was ok
It's been done up recently and it's looking good. Very kid friendly. Haven't eaten there yet but it looks good.
Was turned away, because the kitchen was closed for people that did not have a booking, due to staffing issues. (There was no notice at the door or online about this). The peanuts were out of date at the bar, so not available. The group before me ordered chicken parmi and other menu items, because apparently they had a booking. Wonder if it is because of the fires and pandemic.
Had to ring multiple times to make a booking. Had tons of flies and bugs, seemed understaffed. But the food tasted and looked excellent. The food was the only reason its gets any stars
