A very nice atmosphere, but I'll be honest with the cost of living soaring ever higher these kinds of restaurants are becoming rather audaciously expensive. When the median price of a steak (without sides!) is $100 I expect it to blow my socks off, instead it's just okay. Service was alright, but if you're putting on the facade of a high class dining establishment you would expect a little bit more wow and panache. Overall if you're looking to treat yourselves to a good steak restaurant, save your money and look elsewhere! Crown is definitely not the pace it used to be.

We went only for the pavlova, but ended up ordering another dessert as well (peaches and cream sundae). The service was impeccable, like you would expect from such a place. I would have preferred that the ice-cream used in the sundae (most probably made in-house) would have been a little bit sweater.

Dined last night. Service was very poor and unco-ordinated. Staff seemed inexperienced and lacked teamwork. Food presentation was plain and mains were basically a slab of meat on a plate. Sides and wine not delivered with food and had to be asked for. Sommelier was very offhand and distant. Overall a very disappointing experience after previous visits. Our impression is that this has become a very over-priced and unsatisfactory dining experience. Not worth the very high prices.

Wow! Seriously BAD!
Hard to believe how much this restaurant has slipped. Used to be 5 star but seriously, service: shocking, food: average, decor: tired. If there was a category for sincerity they would need minus stars. “How was your meal”. “Actually it was really disappointing”. “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that, here’s your bill”. They didn’t even set the table correctly, forgot some of our meal. Actually delivered some as we were preparing to leave! Go somewhere else.

Food was ok. I had the 1kg ribeye on the bone. Asked for medium but definitely come as rare almost raw. It was good food but in my experience quite overpriced for what it is. Probably wouldn’t recommend to anyone

I’ve always expected a superior experience at establishments such as Rockpool, last night was not one of those. When suggested we visit Rockpool for my sisters birthday I happily agree. Visits to Rockpool were special, precise and memorable pre-pandemic when still under Neil Perry. Sadly not anymore.

From the moment we arrived we’re provided with lacklustre service. After walking in just prior to our booking time of 2030 we are asked to wait at the bar as our table is not ready. After a few minutes we’re bought to our 6 seater table (there is four of us), menus are thrown in front of us and the wait begins.

After around 10 minutes a waitress approaches and asks if we’re ready to order food (in a very pushy American diner sense). We inform the waitress we’ve not even had an introduction or even ordered drinks. After a few minutes another waiter returns to the table and takes our drinks order, this is again swiftly followed by the food order. No menu explanations are given during the cold interaction.

By the time the first glass of champagne is poured it’s been 30 minutes.

Starters take an alarmingly long time to arrive at the table, around 35 minutes. Everyone is starving by this point.

After ordering three steaks (one sirloin costing over $200) all medium rare, we’re presented with a blood seeping steak that would barely pass for deceased. After bringing it to the attention of the waiter (whom has walked past our table about 20 times) we’re offered for it to be re-cooked. The steak returns minutes later thrown back on the plate.

By this point all of our drinks are finished, the champagne is emptied with no offer of another bottle. The wait begins, we sit there for over 30 long minutes with dirty plates and absolutely no check-in by the team. After 30 minutes I approached a waiter to ask them if we’re forgotten, if they’re short staffed? I get mediocre apologies and an offer of a birthday candle for a dessert we’re not having.

When paying for the $900+ bill, no one offers any apology, no friendliness. Just a poor attitude.

I’m really disappointed by how quickly the Rockpool experience has deteriorated after Neil’s departure. After visiting Margaret in Sydney’s Double Bay a few times and receiving the most incredible service, I won’t be back to Rockpool.

Starters and entrées were excellent. The scallops, mushrooms, and beetroot were delicious. An on-site Sommelier is available, and is very knowledgeable. My partner and I ordered the dry-aged wagyu, and were very disappointed. The steak, despite being medium rare, was unevenly cooked, cold in spots, and very chewy. We spent the majority of our evening (more than 50 minutes for mains to be delivered) waiting for food. The atmosphere is excellent, and the service is unmatched. Having said that, being a high-class restaurant that openly boasts about the quality of its steak, I was not impressed. I don’t think we’ll be returning. The starters and side dishes should not be the highlight of the meal.

I celebrated my birthday here with my partner. We were quite disappointed with the service as felt we were ignored many times. I understand that they are understaffed, however the table next to us were served by many staff members who saw us with our hands up and blatantly ignored us.

Enjoyable meal at this venue. We walked in and despite empty tables, managed to secure a table after waiting for half an hour. The restaurant was incredibly understaffed which made the service slightly slow. Otherwise the service was lovely. Our waiter was very polite and personable. I was surprised by the decision to leave many tables with dirty plates from previous diners on full display, instead of having them cleared. This made for a less welcoming impression upon arrival. Otherwise, the standard of food was very high. Lots of lovely seasoning and the side dishes were very generous in portion size. Only disappointment was that the sweet potatoes with the pumpkin dish were very undercooked.

We ordered 3 x steaks which were good and 1 x fish which was well overcooked and not worth it. The sommelier wasn't familiar with the wine menu. The wait staff were polite but not sure what to do when we ordered 4 x mains and 2 X sides as the oversized plates with minimal sized portions wouldn't fit on the table. We had to clear the table for them and put the side plates and empty glasses on the floor to make room for the 2 X sides.
Overall polite but poorly trained staff and an average experience. The bill was $690 for 2 X adults and 2 X teenagers. We ordered 5 glasses of wine and 4 X mocktails in addition to food. Probably not worth the money until the skill shortage subsides and they can better train the wait staff and hire chefs that know how to cook fish.

In terms of atmosphere it was great but we were rushed with our food and the food itself given the cost of the meals, the cuts of meat were chewy however still full of flavour. Don't get me wrong I'm not expecting my food to be prechewed, the fact we were rushed through our service when we spent 2.5k, the little things were amplified. Don't rush your clientele whether they are spending $150 or 2.5k.

Food was good but very overpriced. I have eaten better for the price. $18 for a bottle of sparkling water plus a $10.90 surcharge for a weekday lunch!

We had the most memorable night last night and wish to thank everyone for making my Mothers Birthday celebration so special. Everything was outstanding from the minute we walked in the door till we left. Huge compliments to the Chef! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Can't please everyone, but I went for the aged steak. Think it was like 18 months or something and I would not recommend sauce with it. Steak was absolutely delicious side dishes and entrees, well, save your money. Really

2nd time visiting Rockpool and won't be back again. 1st time was our anniversary. My wife found a foreign body (a metal ring with sharp edges) in her cocktail. We showed that to the staff and they gave us free drinks for the night. Food was ok but overpriced. We complained this and the restaurant manager emailed us to apologise promising us canape, champagne and a nice table. So we went back again for my wife's birthday having high expectations. We were provided with complimentary canape and champagne. But the table wasn't any special. Before anything the waiter spilled a whole glass of champagne on my wife. When the bill came, we were charged for the complimentary and even the spilled champagnes! Come on! Definitely not worth a second visit.

Came to Rockpool tonight to celebrate my 50th birthday. Service was fine but the food was absolutely terrible and way overpriced. The traditional garlic prawns were a joke and the $100 lobster was over cooked and totally flavourless. Hungry Jacks do better onion rings. Will NOT be returning

Food was top notch, the service left a lot to be desired, we were seated at our table and waited 30 minutes for service then waited another 40 minutes before the food arrived and still had no drinks until I questioned the guy dropping the food at the table and they scrambled around looking at our order until maybe realising they hadn’t put the drinks through. As another reviewer says, they felt abandoned, i would completely agree with that. IMO you pay top dollar not only for the food but for the service and we were let down by that side of things.

Service was fantastic, ambiance was wonderful but the food poisoning both my guest and I had ruined a great evening.
I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be going back again, very disappointing.
