Margaret River Holiday Cottages

I had a delightful stay at Margaret River Holiday Cottages with my family. The charming cottage exuded a clean and inviting farm vibe. Our mornings were a joy as my son eagerly fed the friendly animals, making it the highlight of our day. Riding the tractor added an extra layer of fun, and being close to town was convenient. The farm staff, with their warmth, shared insightful experiences on animal care. To capture the memories, we opted for a family photo session with the owner, Julia Whale – a truly enjoyable experience. A truly memorable and enjoyable retreat!

This was an excellent location and the girls (and us parents too) were sad to leave. The hospitality was excellent, location quiet yet a near drive for food/groceries, and extremely child friendly with a playground and many farm animals. We had Julia taking photos for the 5 of us, and they were beautiful memories.

This was our third year visiting one of the best family holiday spots ever. The grounds are the perfect place for wide open kids play and the heated pool brought hours of fun. The kids loved getting to feed the animals each morning and visiting them whenever they wanted. Adults loved the fires every night and the electric blankets in the beds. Andrew and Julia were lovely and so accommodating. We will definitely be back!

Absolute magic! The entire stay was a dream. The check in was easy, the kids LOVED the animal feeding and truck drive daily, and the staff were always friendly and went above and beyond. They had some baby goats that were great for cuddles throughout the day. Location was perfect for a getaway but still close to the town centre. Beautiful bush walks close by too that are well signed. Highly recommend for the perfect getaway with the kids.

We just got back from a three-night stay. Even as 'farm-stay' enthusiasts, Margaret River Holiday Cottages blew us away. Andrew and Jules (and their kids) have created something truly special here.

The cottages come stocked with the things we would often forget, like paper towel, cling wrap and various utensils. And the complimentary tea / coffee and marshmallows (for roasting over the fire) is a lovely homely touch.

The heated indoor pool was a favourite of our kids and they went swimming every day. Feeding of the animals each morning and the ride in the 4WDs was good fun, but the stand out to us was the way friendship was fostered between owners-and-guests and between guests-and-guests.

We went in winter (during summer Andrew and Jules do an outdoor cinema instead) and a communal fire was lit each night. It was so nice, at the end of a day exploring the caves, or visiting the nearby wineries, to just relax and chat with other guests, while our kids roasted marshmallows, played soccer or 'spotlight' or built sand castles with the other children their age.

We are definitely going to go back and we can't wait for that next trip.

Comfortable yet authentic farm stay with little pretence and curation. There's poop everywhere in the common areas (the accommodation is spotless), because the animals roam FREELY.

That means the alpaca may photo-bomb you, or the donkey or cow may stroll nonchalantly past you.

There is no delay at the check in (although you may be delayed listening to Andrew's fascinating story) and the lack of formal paperwork may feel uncomfortable for some. But I suppose this is as Aussie countryside as it can get.

Unlike fancy resorts, there are no meals provided but a well equipped kitchen means you can try your hand on at making dinner. Failing which there are plenty of good restaurants less than 5 mins away.

Would highly recommend this for families with young children and people who just want an alternate experience!

We had such a wonderful 3 day stay here with our 2 girls! Very cozy cottage even in the cold winter weather, everything you need is provided, including thick blankets and kitchen tools. Our kids loved feeding the animals each morning, and the tractor ride. The team made us feel so at home, and the location is close to town and all the restaurants. Highly recommended! Sunsets and sunrises were amazing, don’t miss it!

By far the best staycation and experience we had in Perth even better than our stay in Frementle, both Andrew and Lisa were such great hosts which really made this trip an unforgettable one!
Will definitely be back again the next time we visit Perth!

The only bush retreat in the heart of Margaret River Town. You’re only 5 minutes away from the town, but you get the full farm experience at this amazing cottage.

The rooms are clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. They have adorable animals roaming freely across their estate. A a nice recreational area with a heated pool, table tennis and DVDs. Everything is very well thought out and well planned.

The owners are extremely helpful. Firstly, it’s the only resort/service in Western Australia that uses WhatsApp, which makes it incredibly easy for tourists to communicate and get information for late check-in procedures. Further, they send you tons of great recommendations on vineyards, restaurants and things to do. Plus they keep you informed of all the animal feeding and fireplace socials that are happening at their estate. They made the whole stay very comfortable and pleasant. I really looking forward to staying with them on our next trip to Western Australia!

Family friendly cabins and cottage grounds. Kids were entertained throughout our stay by the varied activities available. Camp fire was a hit each night. After bed time, parents could continued absorbing the camp fire warmth (& marshmallows or wine) within sight of their cottage. The hosts were, as always, exemplary and homely.

Kids friendly holiday cottages in Margaret River - the highlight for our Perth family holiday trip. My kids enjoyed the daily morning animal feeding and the tractor ride very much. The animals are well kept and kids friendly.

Andrew, the super and wonderful host is very helpful prior and throughout the stay. Location is excellent, only 5 mins drive from Margaret River town. We love the nicely decorated cosy and homey holiday cottages with well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Do check out the most delicious Margaret River Woodfired Fruit Loaf (it's written on the last page of information handbook provided by Andrew and team). Definitely one of the best fruit loaf I've ever tasted.

Andrew took my husband out on the trails behind the cottages for a run at 1st light the morning after we arrived. It was my hubby's first trial run in Australia and he loves it.

We will definitely be back and we can't wait to share this beautiful holiday cottages to our friends and family.

We had a wonderful stay at MR Cottages. There is something for everyone. Perfect for families. Our children haven't stopped talking about all the animals. The only bad thing was that we wish we had of stayed longer. Andrew and his crew make you feel so welcome. We will be sure to return in the future.

Absolutely fantastic place! I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you need a getaway with your partner or family this is superb. Accommodation is great and the location could not be better.

Our family of 4 stayed in a Superior Brick 2 Bedroom Family Cottage and had an amazing time! Communication leading up to and throughout our stay was outstanding. The cottage was darling and very comfortable. We all loved feeding the animals in the morning and being welcome to hang out with them throughout the day. Feeding baby kangaroos and getting to see them play was a highlight and super cool! We loved the pool, ping pong tables, and playground. We were there in early autumn and got to enjoy and outdoor movie night, which was amazing - so many stars! Jules and Andrew were welcoming and warm throughout our stay. They taught us all about the animals, the Margaret River area including several good beach and restaurant recommendations, as well as a recommendation for an awesome company that organized a day of wine tasting for us, and they taught this American expat family living in Singapore several Aussie words and phrases, which were new to us!

Highly recommend Margaret River Holiday Cottages for a truly unforgettable stay! We hope to stay there again one day. Thank you!

Close to all the amenities in Margaret River as well as the coast but when you arrive at Margaret River Cottages you’ll immediately be swept up in the Australia that’s on the edge of “The Bush”! Wild Kangaroo’s in the fields out back…
A night sky that is dark … You’ll really see the southern sky the way it was meant to be seen! The Southern Cross, The Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds … no light pollution at this location! … Then- during the day … besides the farm animals that make Margaret River Cottages their home … a nearby winery … Xanadu …, one of many in the area, is just down the road … as is Eagles Heritage… a non profit that does valuable work with native Australian birds of prey …

We love the cottage so much that we stayed in during our entire visit to Margaret River. Highly recommended for family travellers with little ones! The hosts are super friendly and dedicated, it gives us the feeling of home.

We've just completed a 3-day mid-summer farmstay at M/R Holiday Cottages with our 4,6, and 16 year old kiddos. Being a city slicker with a farm-raised wife, amazingly this spot appealed to the toughest and most diverse of groups. The young ones enjoyed the movie night - Peter Rabbit 2 (not a bad watch by the way), with movies offered 2x per week via outdoor cinema and/or anytime on DVD from their personal library) and the daily animal feedings the most (roos, chickens, cow, donkeys, alpacas, etc). The teenager brushed up on air hockey, billiards, and ping pong - even took off the headphones a few times to interact with us all. All of the kiddos were impressed with the FREE Zooper Doopers in the public freezer at the Pool Area (Mum & Dad had the odd one too) - must of felt like lifestyles of the rich and famous for them. It's the simple things. And this place does the simple things flawlessly.

The service level is 5-star, you are well looked after from pre-arrival, arrival, check ins when interacting on the property, and able to request along the way. This place is a terrific farm stay and it does what it says on the tin. We will happily return in the future (we are keen to see what the winter looks like and use the fireplace and enjoy some bonfire action). Thanks Andrew, Lisa, Kids, and of course Billy - the cow - for all the licks/kisses.

Other stuff - good location, just outside of town. Good space between other cottages - spacious, not too crowded, and quiet - wake to the sounds of the area. Good stock of everything for self-contained living.

Nicely appointed 2 bedroom cottages. Clean and basic supplies included. The farm environment is fantastic. Loved the setting, the animals, rides in the back of the 4x4, outdoor theatre and the tranquility. Fabulous hosts. Thank you for a great 2 day stay
