Karratha Medical Centre reviews
58On entering a very busy surgery we felt sure that we would have a long wait. Liz, the Practice Manager, and a Reception team member who processed us were wonderful as was Dr Kudzai. Our registration processed was processed efficiently with fabulous interaction with us, our wait was surprisingly not long at all. The Dr's appeard to be seeing patients in an ordered and efficient manner. The Dr we saw was respectful, pleasant, lovely sense of humour, thorough and helpful. Cannot recommend the Karratha Medical Centre and Team highly enough. Thanks KMC you are a group of incredible professional.
Went in for COVID vac of which there was a good range of appointment times, awesome service and only took about 20min, very minimal wait time which was great.
Very efficient service, only went in for Covid shot, 20 minutes and we were done. We did not have an appointment so they fit us in. Only trouble I had was their phone number rang out quite a few times, finally got onto them first up in the morning.
Worst service ever. Had an appointment at 3.15pm, filled up information sheet before my appointment. After 1.5 hours of waiting, when asked what happened to my appointment, I was told the doctor had left without seeing me. Apparently, the doctor forgot and so did the staff. Thank you for making me wait this long and not letting me know. Not coming back EVER.
What out for doctors giving you the incorrect scripts! This happened to us more than once and when we bought it up we were not allowed to see ANY OF THE DOCTORS! So please be careful! Especially of a female doctor.
Unprofessional.had an appointment for my wife today, she reached there on time after confirming the appointment. While waiting she felt thirsty and moved out for 5 mins to bring a bottle of water informing the reception. Once she is back she asked to return back and reschedule her appointment. REASON "YOU WERE OUT TO BRING WATER"!
They are not clear about the fact you will be charged even when they advertise bulkbilling. Also the receptionist was rude and hung up on me when I asked for directions.
Made me wait three and a half hours in the waiting seats even though I'm only asking for a medical certificate for my migraine. People who got in later than me received some immediate health care. I just got up and left once the time hit 3: 30pm. I was starving since i kept myself clear just in case the doctors require me to. Just go to the pharmacy and they get the job done in minutes even if they ask you $45 for it. Considering that Medicare would pay for these nurses hourly anyways, it doesn't matter if people would wait for hours, yes?
Karratha Medical Center provides extremely below average services. Staff are clueless about appointment etiquette, make it apparant they believe their time is more valuable than yours, and look for means to extract money instead of offering basic empathy.
On arrival to a follow up appointment (which was booked directly through them at the clinic), they advised that the doctor was on holidays and would return in 3 weeks. No alternate appointment with another doctor was available. As explanation, they advised they had called twice (from a private number), and that their 'policy' does not allow them to leave a voice or text message- not even 'this is karratha medical centre, please call back'. We are meant to intuitively assume it is the doctor's office calling to cancel an appointment.
As the doctor was unavailable for 3 weeks, we requested to receive a print out of our pathology results (offering to wait for half an hour if needed). They advised they would not be able to provide it today as the other doctor needs to sign a release and is busy.
On request to have the results printed for tomorrow ready to pick up, they advised this could not be guaranteed (as the doctor is still so busy).
Letting them know that we would be leaving town in two days for the holidays, we requested for the results to be emailed to us instead when the release was granted. Emailing is also against their 'policy'.
We asked if the results could be sent to an alternate doctor at our request. They said yes, please fill in this form and pay us $50 for YOUR results to be released to an alternate doctor even though none of ours are available for consultation.
When asked if I can request another doctor to retrieve my results on my behalf, they say they do not know about the process.
Bulk billing is advertised but this service is in fact not bulk billed (at the doctor's discretion.).
Most definitely not recommended. Take yourself somewhere where you're likely to be treated like a human instead.
The long rambling message you are obliged to listen to when calling the Centre is totally over the top, annoying, and unnecessary,
I have dysphegia condition not eating for 4 days, i speak one of the GP to asked referal for videofluoroscope test Asap with a letter from my speech pathology friend so that I can fly to Perth and have the test.aside from she refused to give me a referal not even reading the letter from SPEECH PATHOLOGY.what she did is she made me a referal to ENT and asked me wait for a month.not even giving me a medicine.wow.am just wondering how she managed all of these.it's a bad experience for not help me at all and waste my money.
Disapointed was kicked out of the consult at 13mins, doctor advised that 2 items for a terminal illness was enough for her to discuss. I still needed blood test referral and was told to make another appointment
Rude doctors and writing out incorrect prescriptions. Please check your prescriptions before leaving the practice.
Cant get through on phone called local number, no voice mail and 1800 number who just put you back through to the local number. No ability to book online. Ill go elsewhere
Love this clinic it's awesome with the short wait times and the staff are very friendly, the doctors are very understandable. I choose this medical centre over Nickol Bay Hospital, the doctors know exactly what the case if pain is or know exactly what you need done. Thanks to Dr Kahn and some staff from NBH I now know what the pain in my kidneys where. And thanks to Dr Kahn I'll be seeing a specialist for my fractured spine and hope to get this fixed once and for all.
Friendly experience reception staff. Appointments have been offered straight away, and booking have a wide range of times available. Doctors are very professional and fast on follow ups, as well as listen to you.
My story, I am new to Karratha (6mths)
I couldn't get into my normal doctors clinic one day I had an urgent sick child, so they referred me to Karratha medical center. I was given an appointment for that afternoon. But the child got worse, so I rang to cancelled my appointment, and to go in to emergency department at the hospital. But to my surprise, she told me to come in straight away, and we did. We got seen to next. It was such a relief for me, to have that type of fast support at the time. I was stressing, after listening my baby cry for hours on end, not sure how to help him. Very grateful.
Grate work and job and well done, to the team at Karratha medical center.
My family have now changed doctor clinic's.

Sometimes there are long wait times (as with all medical centres/clinics) but the service I get from the doctors here is Se one to none and well worth it
The lovely girls in reception who have changed over the last 25 years have always been of the most outstanding and professional reception staff I have ever come across. Unfortunately the waiting list can be a long time because of the lack of qualified GP's and Doctors that are willing to live in remote areas. We do have some wonderful doctors but some do not realise how expensive it is to go to Perth on a regular basis! Even with the help of the wonderful girls at P. A. T. S in Pt Hedland, who are under such immense pressure to process thousand of claims, they are the most professional and wonderful staff I have had the pleasure of coming across, that is including the reception staff at Karratha Medical Centre. My only wish is that when you are talking to a professional such as a GP, that they listen to you and do not watch the clock! I wish all the staff (reception staff) all the best for the future.
