Grand Lane Fish House reviews
72For when you need your English chippy fix. Real chips, proper curry sauce (English or Irish) plus some nice bonuses - Deep fried haggis and a cup of Yorkshire tea! Great job Grand Lane! I wonder if they do scraps on top.
I wanted to eat out tonight and they claimed to be the best fish and chips in Perth – that's for me to decide!
So, I tried it out, service was quick, and the staff were warm and friendly. The fish and chips were very good – it didn't seem greasy at all (i.e. Properly drained), the fries were hand cut and cooked perfectly (crispy on the outside, fluffy and soft on the inside). By the time I finished, the fish was still crispy.
I'll probably come back in the future and try something different.
Very tasty! Fish was juicy, flaky and had a nice batter that didn’t make you feel sick after. Cheesy curry chips were sooo good reminded me of being back home in UK, complemented with a battered sausage. Owner was super friendly and informative
Used to come here all the time but something changed. Just not the same quality of food. Ordered two servings of the fish as the person behind the counter said you get one normal size and one small one. And we ask for one serving to be grilled and the other serving to be battered. And we received two battered pieces n one grilled piece and when asked, why didnt we get two girlled and two batter since we ordered and paid for two serves and mentioned what the person behind the counter said. We were told that he was mistaken, and the two pieces weight out to the same as the one girlled, which makes no sense. We then also ordered a crumb sausage and when we received it, the crumb at come dis-attached (off) the sausage.
It's not the same quality and serving as what it used to be.
Some guy said the chips were bad, screw that guy he has the palette of a child. Nice chips, friendly owner & service.
They lazily make their own chips. Don't even peel them before hand, and taste horrid. Batter for the fish is also done very lazily. Further more the size of a large chips is what you would expect from regular size. Honestly just horrid, and to get the rating they did I'm pretty sure the majority of them are fake.
Cod Chips and Ruby Sauce. Just lovely.
Very friendly staff, seated us in front of the aircon which was much appreciated on this 40 degree day.
Big knowledge of fish and fresh done chips.
Salty fish I assume from the butter maybe.
Size was small.
Great fish and chips and lovely host. He kept the kids (and adults) entertained, and he sure had deep knowledge about fish.
Always get friendly service here, definitely the best Fish and Chips in the CBD, in my top 3 for Perth as a whole.
Give the joppe sauce a try with your chips!
Absolutely the best fish n chips I’ve ever eaten. Curry chips, oh so moorish. Very friendly crew and to top everything off, free beers! I’d give 10 stars if I could.
Disappointed, won't go back. Hake was the size of a fish finger. Calamari was chewy. Chips were crumbs and very greasy becauae of that. Felt ripped off
This is probably the best fish and chips I've ever had. Batter is light and fluffy, chips look like they're handcut? Everything was really generous and using top quality ingredients.
Generous serving sizes, good service, and everything cooked super fresh. Home made/hand cut chips way nicer than frozen chips at every other shop. Shame they’re never busy, people are missing out on a genuinely nice place to eat
So nice to be able to buy tasty cod.
Keep up the good work!
Any chance of offering some soggy chips too? Not a criticism, just a suggestion.
Amazing fish and chips here. The chips were perfect by themselves, but we added curry sauce for an extra treat.
Felt very ripped off paying almost $40 for fish, chips and onion rings. The hand cut chips were shriveled and dry and not crunchy and fresh. Onion rings were extremely oily - all you could taste was oil, we took one bite and had to throw the rest out because of this. The servings are miniscule compared to what you pay at other fish and chip shops. Go elsewhere.
Best fish and chips place in metro Perth by far. Have tried the Fisherman's box, salt and pepper squid, straight fish and chips and everything was perfect.
Great service and amazing fish and chips. I would recommend this place to anyone
The above was a review from one year ago, still great fish and chips, although we had to take our mushy peas back to be reheated. The reason I've dropped from 5 stars to 3 stars is because it was blood freezing 31/07/2021
The lady did put the heater on but may I suggest you close the roller doors and only have one enterence open to the restaurant.
I was just about to give up on fish and chips in Perth. After so many let downs.but this place shattered my expectations, beautiful pan fried fish. Everything melts in your mouth. I couldn't recommend this place more highly
