Grand Lane Fish House reviews
72 Went here for a weekday lunch right on opening.
On arrival the shop was a little late to open and not quite ready for service, but only by a 5 minutes. No big deal.
The worker was very friendly and accomodating. Very informative and proud of his work. The restaurant was quiet due to the early hour.
I ordered a mix of items including fish, chips, squid and sauces.
The seafood was very nice and the chips had the real “chippy” quality that can be hard to find. They might have even been hand-cut?
Look, there’s a lot of hype about this restaurant, and for the service, I think it’s warranted.
Regarding the food, yes, it’s good, but I don’t know if it’s worth going well out of your way for. Though there’s some horrible fish and chip shops in Perth, I think many suburbs will have a comparable (or in very few cases better) fish and chip shop close by.
I read reviews before going to Grand Lane.
I really wish I didn't bother.
After waiting 30 minutes, I was going to cancel my order, when the young guy said he made the mistake of mixing up my order, I did wait for another 12 mins only to get an average meal.
Too greasy, more batter than fish and the calamari was a letdown.
I do not recommend this place
I highly recommend the lunch box - a very decent serving of fish and chips with 2 calamari rings, a lemon wedge, and tartare sauce - very reasonably priced at $16. Fish tasted very fresh and had a was coated in very nice and light batter, although possibly little on the oilier side. Hand cut chips with skin on were a nice touch. The calamari rings were light and crispy. There was a self-serve station for cutlery and seasonings (salt, pepper, mint sauce), I didn't see any chicken salt, which i would have liked on the chips, but didn't take away from the experience. Wasn't too busy on a Thursday afternoon
A must-try restaurant when you come to Perth.
Be sure to try white snapper and barramundi
Fish and chips is one of my favourites. Grand Lane Fish house makes the very best I have ever had and I'm 70 years old. Delicious and very reasonably priced. I went on Sunday 24 for lunch and it was packed. It my new go to for fish& even though I have to take a train into the city to enjoy this treat.
Great place, secure with delicious food. If you want to eat the best fish and chips in Perth, you should come here.
Great British chips, wish sides didnt come in wasteful plastic containers.
But get urge for british food its place to come
I used to get the fish tacos with chips from here at lunchtime and they were great. However I visited with my family this evening and sadly the chips were nothing like they used to be (or those pictured by other reviewers). They were thin and overcooked and the portion was very small. The fish was ok, but not as fresh tasting as I remember. Hopefully just the chef having an off night - it wasn't the normal chap I remember.
Unassuming little place on Barrack Street. We sat in the front of the restaurant which was clean, light and airy. The Mrs opted for pan fried barramundi, onion rings and asian slaw while I had battered smoked cod, hand cooked chips and the slaw. Service at the counter was prompt and friendly. The chips were excellent, as good as any UK chip shop, the onion rings came in crispy light batter and the slaw was fresh and crunchy. The fish was the real star of the show. My cod was cooked just right, the batter was crispy and dry and the smoky taste shone through. The Barramundi was moist and perfectly cooked and all for $45
Absolutely delicious food for a great price! The Fisherman's Box is delicious and affordable! Was in Perth for 11 days and came back at least 6 different times.
The gluten free reviews are outdated and irrelevant now. As the options are only chips and grilled fish and not for coeliacs.
Paul’s fish burger and reg side of chips were tasty however on this occasion there was no damper roll.
Sunday 8 Jan - lunch
I love fish n chips and made it a point to visit various restaurants famous for their fnc during my two-week vacation in Australia. After visiting the cities, I’m convinced that Grand Lane serves the best. I kept thinking about how nice their barramundi was and just had to eat it one more time before I returned home. The owner is so kind and friendly too!
Easily the best fish and chips in Perth! The fish is lightly battered and flaky while the chips are hand cut and perfectly fried. I usually never finish my chips when I eat F&C but when I come here I clean out the whole plate. I normally order the lunch box which comes with fish, chips, 2 pieces of calamari and a sauce of your choice.
Pro tip: try their house made picked onion vinegar which goes perfectly with both the chips and fish!
Lovely flavours, good service, nicely cooked, especially the soft calimari rings and thick fillet of fish. Well done guys, I wish I realised you's were there sooner, I'll be back thnx:)
I keep trying to give this place a chance but everytime me and my partner get chips here the serving is a joke, a large for $5.50 is about a cup. Abit trash considering chips cost nothing. Gotta go to the suburbs for good chips these days.
Very good fish and chips - there's a dining area outside in an alleyway. The squid rings are melt in your mouth freshness and the batter is crisp and light. One of the best fish and chips I've had.
Likely one of my favourite fish and chip places in Perth hands down. Would recommend to anyone who wants to try some consistently good fish and chips.
Hi
My daughter ordered 2 North Atlantic Cod, sweet potatoe fries, onion rings and tartar sauce for take away at about 7pm tonight.
Tartare sauce was missing. The fish batter and sweet potatoes were absolutely soggy with oil.
Went to this shop due to the reviews.
Seriously this is the worst of worst fish and chips I've ever eaten.
Regards
Devi
Best one of the fish and chips in city noticed which I would do a frequent visit. It matches our taste requirements and the shop owner is wonderful guy who picks up what I really needed. Chips are cut from fresh potatoes which I liked the best!
