el Publico reviews
77Rude aggressive staff. Revolting food. Served a vegan chicken after explicitly requesting vegetarian meal (video to prove). Not recommended
Disgraceful venue with a disgraceful manager to match. Asked for a vodka lime soda and was told that they had never heard of it. The service was slow and had to check up on multiple orders which were forgotten. Won’t be heading back. CCTV to match if needed
One of the worst dining experiences of my life. To state all of the inadequacies of this establishment would make this review endless. The cliff notes are as follows:
- Food was nowhere near adequate
- Food was overpriced
- Bill was over 2 thousand dollars, which you might have assumed got as some sort of up to scratch service but you would be wrong. Absolutely NOT the young Irish woman that was serving our table was possibly the single rudest person I have ever encountered in the service industry, potentially my life
- According to this unpleasant woman the establishment does not do split billing even when the bill totals in the thousands. Which is so moronic it has baffled me as to how this establishment even functions in modern day society.
- After discussing our displeasure over not being able to split a bill in the thousands the establishment then rang up the next venue we were visiting and told them to NOT ALLOW US IN.
- We we’re not intoxicated whatsoever which was why considering our sober state the next venue was confused and allowed us in. I can only assume it was because we asked el publico to provide a service (split billing) that every single other restaurant I have ever eaten in provides.
- Can only assume this was out of spite which is not only petty but just a downright terrible customer experience. Just stating this for your feedback in case you would actually like your customers to enjoy the time they spend at your establishment.
- regardless of potential delusions that contacting another venue was for some murky moral righteousness. You have just displeased customers paying above average price. I’m going to let you know a secret. That is a terrible business model. Visiting your establishment was one of the worst dining experiences me or my family have ever had. The service was abhorrent and the quality for price ratio was nothing besides disgusting.
I will not be returning nor recommending el publico to any person. I actually believe I will go out of my way to do the opposite after my experience at your establishment.
Amazing food and table service was great, when we asked for a table for 7 we were told “no, not for you”. The manager was very unprofessional and unacommodating, was very rude and abrupt with responding to any quieries. Would recommend chatting to anyone else for any service besides the manager.
Great night out! We had a big group of 12, everyone had the best time, thank you El Publico. Delicious food, great vibe, fast and friendly service. Catered well for vegos and everything was GF. Verrrry tasty Margaritas! Quite loud, good music and party atmosphere, but it was just what we wanted.
Cheers!
Awesome food, great atmosphere, and top service. Our favourite Mexican, and probably top 5 favourite restaurants in Perth.
The feed-me menu is almost too much food!
Good wait times and yummy food. A bit on the pricey side for what you get, but no real complaints otherwise. Thanks
Menu was a bit disappointing in terms of choices. Service only average, they brought the mains along with the starters. Took them back to kitchen presumably to keep them warm and then brought them out again half way through eating the starters and they were cold - hopeless! Wouldn't rush back.
Went for dinner. We were running late and they were happy to move our booking to an hour later.
Ordered birria tacos, pork carnitos and steak tacos. The birria is amazing. The chicaron in the pork tacos adds an amazing texture to the soft shell tacos. Did I mention u can order crickets. Honestly they taste like chips if u ignore that they are bugs.
Ordered a mixed platter to share. There is chorizo, rump steak, chicken, pork belly. There is a choice of protein for everyone. Unfortunately the rump was medium well rather than medium rare. A bit on the tougher side.
Love this place! Save yourselves the trouble and just get the set menu, it won't disappoint - plenty of food, the Paloma here is to die for!
Best Mexican food in WA and my new favourite restaurant in the area!
The food was fantastic, but the mole icecream is where the chef really shows off their creativity. The juxtaposition of the spices and the cream creates a flavour explosion in my mouth of pure joy. I haven't had something so innovative in food for ages.
The tacos were fantastic too. I preferred the carne asada one but the fish taco was also good. The crickets taste like popcorn and are fun to eat taco style with an order of tortillas and the green chile salsa.
The beef Mogo Mogo balls were surprising full of shredded beef and the dipping sauce went great with it.
The tortillas tasted just like the tortillerias from Mexico
They're really doing great things at this place!
The food was amazing and so were the staff! A+. Only thing I wish they would improve on is answering their phones as we called 6 times and left a message to try and confirm our booking.
Outstanding. Delicious food, incredible cocktails and an impressive tequila and mezcal selection. Staff are superb.
Ive never been to Mexico but this is what I imagine authentic Mexican food to taste like.
Everything was delicious but our server didnt really seem to care much.
Cute little spot in mount lawley. Chicken taco was the stand out dish. The asada steak taco lacked flavour. Also the music wasn't matching the theme/atmosphere of the place but overall a fun experience.
It’s a good job we had alcohol and good company as the food and service was abysmal. We ordered to feed me menu but it should really be called the dieting menu as we were all left still famish after desert. Don’t be expecting a hot meal I felt like I was tucking into cold army rations out of a tin packet. Nothing individually wrong with the staff as they were nice enough but wouldn’t communicate what food was being delivered on our table (although the Irish girl was lovely and good craic). I won’t need to hold a vendetta as I won’t be returning. I would recommend the owners do some research in the field of hospitality and food quality as it simply did not live up to standard. No hard feelings, wish you the best going forward
Was so tasty, except I wasn't a fan of the sauce on the fish taco. Highly rate everything else though
Delicious food, catering to dietary requirements. I loved the chilli beer "cocktail" and will definitely go back.
Such a great night of dining and drinking. If you're keen for a delightful modern Mexican meal and a beautiful tequila cocktail get here!
Went for dinner on Saturday night - great atmosphere and great service, but best of all was the food! We did the feed me menu and it didn’t disappoint. Everything was delicious and gluten free which was great for my wife! Thanks for a great experience
