No complaint about the food or the decor BUT like others who have reviewed here (and on other sites) my 3 friends and I had a major problem with the antagonistic and rude owner. He made us feel on edge and jumpy from the start, then as we were about to leave said to us "are you leaving now or are you planning to stay for dinner? " We had just finished lunch at 2pm!
We were also bewildered by written instructions on the menu stating "two pots of tea per table, +$1 CUP, +&1.50 MUG. DON'T SHARE CUP! "

This delightful tea room was the beautiful venue for my 60th High Tea held last week. Thirty adult guests and five young children enjoyed the ambience, delicious food and wonderful teas. Owner, Keith Archer and his staff, couldn't have more to accommodate our large party and in particular, two guests who are gluten intolerant, were thrilled with their special food items. It was a warm, elegant, happy and fun afternoon - I couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you!

Our high tea was well presented but our table was at a punch point in the café so we had to keep moving so that people could get past. The teapot could have been filled sooner and I might ask that tea or coffee be offered to attendees as not all my party drank tea.
Everything else was great. Good food and plenty of it. Everyone went away full!

I was pleased with the food and portion sizes. The service is very prompt & friendly.
BUT! I was annoyed to think there is a dog that resides there.look I don't hate animals but I don't believe they belong in a restaurant In side.
I won't be back.

Cafe and shop in busy section of Maylands. Large menu for a small place. The small shop front pens out at the back and has an Asian feel. Generously sized food portions. Friendly service. Parking close by at lunchtime is a little problematic, but worthwhile. Hundreds of teas for sale, for personal use or gifts.

My partner suggest this place for lunch as she lived not far away and had been there before.
Was not impressed. I had Singapore chilli prawns advertised as a share or large meal for 1. Do not think so. Flavour was very average. My partner's beef rendang had more flavour. For $38.95 definitely not worth it. Even partner's dish was over priced for what it was.

Ordered for desert sticky fig cake. Sorry was not available. So went for pendan cake. Supposedly a fluffy sponge. Afraid not fluffy or very sponge. Honestly would say just not fresh. Why on earth was sponge green in colour. Partner's crepes also green. Maybe left overs from St Patrick's day.

When time to pay what do I see in cabinet on front counter. Sticky fig cake I originally ordered but unavailable. GO FIGURE.
Will not go back do not recommend.

The service upon entry was abrupt and unwelcoming.and that was just the owner! The coffee was lovely yet we didn't receive the cake we ordered. Wait staff blamed counter staff, as she "gave the docket in! ", very poor customer service training. The staff member at the counter did apologise, nice one, thank you! Each dollar spent beyond buying some tasty oolong tea to take away was a dollar wasted! Experience is everything in this industry, shame!

Delightful little Cafe in an unexpectedly nice part of Maylands. The staff were brilliant and the teas we tried were lovely. Overall I was really impressed with this place, and if you're in the market for tea (or other related items) this place will have you covered. There are so many to choose from and the staff are really helpful with selections.

Late night tea, coffee and dessert. It's always a wonderful experience walking in here. Makes you feel like you've been transported somewhere wonderful. I went with recommendations for the tea, apple spice and vanilla it was divine

Had a lovely dinner here and have come here several times before for a meal, tea and cake and have always loved it. Tonight, however, 20 minutes before closing time, the manager walked past us, yelling to the staff inside, "Are we ready to close yet? " We were a bit shocked and thought that it was a bit rude - clearly kicking us out 20 minutes before closing. My friend mentioned something politely when we went to pay to him, stating that he had made her feel unwelcome and he replied, rather rudely, "You need to get over that. That's not what I meant. " We then left it and exited, clearly annoyed. What was worse was as we left, he announced to his staff that my friend was a "princess! " Absolutely shocked and disgusted. Even if we had have been rude and unreasonable customers, a level of professionalism? !? I was going to book my friends' Hens party here, but will not be going back! Quite a shame.

Went for high tea with bubbles $50. Bottomless tea. Lovely variety of offerings. Wooden seats are very hard on your bottom after a while though so pop a cushion in ur handbag.

Been here a few times and always had a lovely experience but tonight we had an encounter with the very rude owner. 20 minutes to closing, my friend and I had just finished off our tea and were sat chatting when the owner came past our table and yelled to the staff “are we ready to close yet? ” We can take a hint so we got up to go and on the way out I said to the owner that what he said had made me feel unwelcome and he said “you need to get over that” and called me a princess to his staff. I always make a point of giving feedback when I have an unpleasant experience because in my family’s business we really valued customer feedback so we can apologise and do better next time. We always hated to lose customers because they didn’t feel comfortable speaking up. So I was really surprised by the attitude of the Chapels on Whatley owner. It was a real shame: (

Delightfully cute atmosphere. So, so many teas. Super friendly and helpful staff. Friends are regulars here and now I see why!

This was my second visit and my friend and I made the trek from Freo!
We also met up with another friend who lives near by and is a vegan.
Waitress was fabulous and I went with the signature dish (recommended) and enjoyed it. The vegan tofu was inedible and the waitress dealt with that beautifully. The other meal appeared to be smothered in ‘thousand island’ dressing, very, very odd.
I want to love this beautiful cafe, so maybe I should just stick to a cup of tea.

Nope not going back. So many things about it. Bad service, the tea is low grade and felt like I was drinking pre drunk tea.
