Tokar Estate reviews
78I arranged for Rita's pantry meal box to be delivered to my dad on his birthday, as we weren't able to visit him during isolation. It was incredible value - for $110 it included enough delicious food to feed both mum and dad over two nights. They absolutely loved it! Thanks to DT and Rita for arranging it and even writing a birthday card on my behalf! You made our week. Thanks again! X
We had a most pleasant day today at Tokar Estate. I phone to make a reservation and spoke with James who was most pleasant and accommodating with his phone manner. Upon arrival we were shown a table for two and we both ordered the Market Fish (Dory) / Almondine / Espellete Brown Butter / Capers with a side plate of Potato / Rye / Bottarga. This was complemented by a bottle of Tokar Estate Chardonnay. My wife is gluten free and this wasn't a problem for staff and chef at all. We finished with two desserts, Sheep Yoghurt / Blackcurrant / White Chocolate / Vine Leaves and Brown Butter Ice-Cream / Burnt Honey / Cherry / Tokar Estate Pinot Noir (picture included). All staff we professional and helpful. The grounds are perfect for taking photographs with a backdrop of the hills. Parking is plentiful. Thanks again to all staff and in particular James, whos discrete humour was appreciated. We will be back.
Visited as part of a Christmas party - their hospitality to our larger group was very good. Sommelier was very knowledgeable, and our 2 course lunch was both pleasing to the eye and the palate.
Well presented beautifully cooked steak. Side plates over priced. $12 for a few small potatoes.
Food was very nice. Service exceptional and Cabernet sav. 2015 very nice. Well done to the chef and staff
We had a meal there 30 November for dinner. We couldn't fault the service or the food. The menu was inventive with a wide range of dishes and every dish was superb. The dish and drink selection from the staff was detailed, clear and well-considered. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.
Unfortunately, for those looking for it, I didn't take the opportunity to check for vegan, lactose, celiac or other dietary requirements.
Such amazing views was a beautiful day with good company, great food and amazing wine highly recommend
Food and wine were amazing.
Very peaceful setting. Staff were accomodating and passionate about their service.
This is my 2nd time to have lunch here with 2 friends. When we arrived, we were greeted with a smile and lead us straight to our table. They have recently renovated the restaurant with a contemporary design that made the restaurant looks big. Food was amazing. We had the starter with 2 cheeses all taste amazing, (Che'vre-light and fluffy goats cheese and Dauphin. For entrée, I had the scallops with broad beans that melt in our mouth, main, I had pressed pork with puree, and baby carrot and the taste were just divine. We paired our meals with a bottle of Chardonnay that is crisp and smooth. All of these for $70 per person. I would say good value considering the good service we got and delicious food. I highly recommend this winery.
100/10. Food here is amazing and every single member of staff is friendly, professional and memorable.
(+) Positive points:
-Reception is great, very friendly and nice staff.
-Wine is good based on the price you pay.
-Food was expensive but really delicious.
We loved the food.
-nice coffee
-Try cheese platter while doing wine tasting/ best experience
-View is fabulous
(-) negative Points:
- The chips was too salty.
- Dish and desserts were a bit costly
Loved it and will be back very soon
This is my second visit to this winery. Previously I rated this a 4 star.
The scenery and food presentation is excellent and worth a visit.
Unfortunately this time I have scored it a 3 mainly due to my under cooked fish and portion size.
I understand you pay for other things when you have fine dining.
Maybe this was an off day but don’t skimp on the portion size as the food is delicious.
A nice posh little winery with many wines on offer to taste and a restaurant too. Very pretty place with a fountain outside. I liked it. It has particularly good Chardonnay.
We came in for a wine tasting and were greeted by James. Professional and knowledgeable about the wine making process with a great (if not hidden at first) sense of humour.
Will be back.
Not impressed with the vegetarian meal they need to lift their game especially for the price they charge would not recommend
From the outset our group was treated poorly. We had paid for a group tour of 9 people, which included a tasting and lunch. The hospitality was non-existent and left a very bad taste in our mouths. The wine tasting was rushed and provided us with very little knowledge. I am vegetarian so this does not apply to me, but the rest of my party wanted the steak. We were informed that the steaks were only cooked medium and there was no deviating from that. After inquiring with a second attendant who rudely told me that if our tour operator had not provided us with the information that the steaks were only cooked medium then that is not their problem. I don't know if they think that their hospitality is up to scratch here at Tokar but it was an utterly disappointing experience.
We were invited to Tokar by friends and expected to pay a bit but to get really good food. The wine was beautiful and the service was really good, but that's where the compliments end. I had duck which was unedible, as it was basically raw and tough. Staff agreed with me and offered me another meal. I don't eat red meat so I had the ling, which was pretty ordinary. It was steamed and basically on an empty plate with dots of stuff to decorate. It was tasteless and watery. Since when do you order a $40 meal and the plate comes to you without any vegetables and has a few dots of stuff? Around it. Someone had an entree which had a small decoration of food round half the plate and that was it. Obviously the more you pay the less you get, in quantity and quality. We don't pay $150 for a lunch very often and we sure won't again. Nouveaux quisine is a rip off!
Great location, surrended by beautiful vineyard, and standard food selection. Unfortunately, let down by poor snobby discriminative services. My father was visiting from overseas and none the wiser to what I notice to be a stark and drastic difference in speed and quality of service to our table compare to the other diners. Food was incorrectly ordered but we decided good food should not go to waste hence did not return the dish. Only then did our waiter alter his manner. Missed opportunity. Will most defintely not be back. Also important to note a large group of friends came here for a birthday celebration and cakeage was a ridiculous amount thrice what you'd pay elsewhere.
