Third Wave Cafe reviews
77The hype was worth it, as the service & food. Over all worth the total experience and will be back. The staff were awesome & the food recommendation's we are on point. People even drove from Canberra for the Hammer. Totally worth the experience, Ill be back for sure when in Melbourne. Third Wave is a title wave of the food experience!
I have had a lot of disappointing BBQ places in Melbourne but was talked into trying this place out.
I have to say I was pleasantly impressed. As someone who loves to slow cook and smoke my meats this place impressed me with the ribvlaki. Ribs fell right off the bone and were tender as I would expect from a great BBQ. The quantity was also not bad for the price. The chicken wings were delicious as well. I love the kick in their food as well. I recommend giving it a try.
Took my boyfriend for his birthday, he got a free birthday meal, the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were so friendly.
I feel like I'm back in Texas. The beef ribs were falling off the bone and melted in your mouth.
You really need to be hungry when you come here. First the good points. The staff are really friendly. The food is delicious in all aspects, like next level. If it's your birthday, you can get some free food if you register on their website. The bad points.there aren't any.
The atmosphere was very average. But everything else was good. It was not wow, but it was acceptable. The staff were friendly too.
Okay. Beef ribs were really awesome and really well done. My friend ordered a medium steak and she was served with well done steak! Beef ribs were awesome. Loved them. However, she was fairly upset and guess what, when she pointed out, server denied that it is not well done! That was the only bummer. If I ever come back, I'll be alone and will be here for ribs:)
I came here for my older brother's birthday a month or two ago. We got the thors hammer, a burger each. The food was fantastic, me and my brother left with the meat sweats.
Food ordered:
Bbq in a bbq / bbq for 2
-Beef ribs were okay but nothing special
-Pork ribs dry
-Oink balls had stale textured bacon
-Brisket loaded chips were avg
-Sausages were barely warm and closer to cold
-Onion rings were like taking bites of oil
-Slaw was okay
-Mac n cheese tasted like chemicals
Their souvlaki
-Lots of sauce so you couldn’t really taste the seasoning on the meat
Overall everything was around $500 for a group of 6 and we all agreed it tasted like someone who had just got into cooking bbq made it. The place was decorated very nicely and had a great vibe, stuff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Other than the chips the food was very disappointing and we found it over priced for the quality.
Get prepared for a food coma, generous portions even if you are sharing, the place was full and we got a pretty fast service. I’m not a sweet tooth but the deserts are amazing too.
Food is okayish, good portions but the taste is not top notch. I don't like the menu because you can't edit it and drinks are expensive but not worth it. Corn bread was blend in taste and it wasn't cheesy even though we ordered cheesy and paid extra. Smoked ham and cheese was blend in taste, reuben sandwich was filled with pickles only ribs were good. Service is alright, not too good and not too bad. For this much expensive restaurant the toilet is unhygienic, it ran out of hand soap and no one give a thought about replacing it. 10% surcharge on a Saturday night is a bit too much. Sitting area is totally conjusted. People were bummed with each other and the stairs were slippery. It is running due to hype over social media otherwise if you're spending $400 for 4 people then you can find way better restaurants with better menu
This spot gives extraordinary service and yummy meals. One of my favorite restaurants around town. The meals served rapidly and the rates were reasonable. Highly recommended. A delicious experience!
Awesome food, awesome drinks, great environment & massive portions but so worth value for money. Will definitely come back here again. Parking can be a little tricky.
A little patience is required getting your food served but the wait is well worth it. A great place if you feel like a big feed, especially their seasonal specials!
Tasty food, not sure about the rush of the waiters to pick up the dishes and pressing for order more or leave.
Awesome American style food.
Great service, very friendly staff.
Had the dinosaur ribs. The meat fell off the bone and was so amazingly tender and tasty.
Highly recommend
The time I'm writing this review is when I still haven't received my order. Been sitting here outside in cold and windy evening for a sweet 40 Minutes so far and nothing has arrived yet.
If I hadn't paid for my food in advance, I had left this place for a good survival reason.
I know it's busy here, only two girls running here and there trying to serve like 100 customers.doesn't make sense.no heating or curtain outside which stops the wind at least.
So disappointed.
I was planning to buy this place once upon a time during covid, but didn't happen.
Of I buy this place today:
I'll make a more pleasant outside sitting area with proper heating system.
Put a few more staff least for weekends to get the food as quick as possible.
Good luck owner, I know your food is good. Haven't tasted it yet thought.but food quality is one factor and customer service is another.
What a dam of an experience! Place was full to the brim. No distancing between our table and the table next to ours. Might as well be touching shoulders with the person next to us. No ventilation, place was stuffy, on a cold night.
Waitress gave us dirty glasses- that felt oily and still had puddle of water left in it, from previous drinker. She spilt it all over my hand, before she gave it to me.gave me a shock! No apology was made. Staff are extremely rude and ignorant.
We made staff aware of the dirty glasses and she said she would come back for them. We told her again and she left them there.and in the end, only ended up taking one filthy glass. So we had someone else's glass left on the table for the whole night! How pathetic.
-My burger, was saturated in mustard. Flavour of meat was undistinguishable.
-My tongue was burning from all the vinegar in the green salad. Which mind you, was not worth $22.
-Waitress, leaned over table with her mask on her chin, with her head over a plate of food and was talking to us.
-They have a surcharge on weekends! So the overpriced food was even more immoderately priced.
-Went to pay and the staff in error, billed us for over $500 dollars more then what they were suppose to.with a half made apology served.
- Corn bread, was dry and fall apart.
This place should be called 5th Wave, like the movie. It's purgatory, trying to survive it all! The poor quality of food, the poor service and the incompetent staff. Its inacceptable. No wonder, they need to advertise on social media, to a huge degree. They would loose a lot of potential long term customers. Me, being one of them.
The food was sensational and the service was great. We will most defiantly be heading back soon.
Third Wave Cafe offers my favorite burger ‘Juicy Lucy’ and I recommend my friends to try it. The Smoked Lamb Burger also tastes great. When I decide to go to the Port Melbourne beach and enjoy the sunset views, the burgers from this cafe would be my first choice for the dinner. Highly recommended.
