The Stables of Como Cafe reviews
80The worst cafe ever. Doesn’t even deserve one star. We waited for an hour and drinks and food never came. Customers who arrived after us even got their food and drinks and when we questioned the waitress about our order, she said it would come in 5 minutes. That 5 minutes turned into another quarter of an hour so we ended up leaving while hungry and went somewhere else. Brace yourselves ladies and gentlemen for the worst customer service ever. Well done Stables at Como.
This place is all about the atmosphere! Been to this place twice and just really love the provincial vibe. This place just oozes spring/summer brunch vibes.
Upon my first visit I brought a book along and read with a glass of pinot and a croissant in the sun outside. Nice selection of French and local wines. And the gardens are a nice tranquil place in the heart of Toorak.
Second visit I sat for brunch and coffee. The long macchiato was just how I like it. Strong, rich and smooth with some lovely artwork on top. So good I had to have two! The staff were friendly and attentive yet not invasive. You can tell they enjoy working there. The atmosphere although busy, didn't seem stressful. The food wasn't super quick, although not slow either. Acceptable considering the amount of people there. Nothing to complain about here. Overall another enjoyable experience.
I also hear they are working on an updated new food menu so I look forward to returning to check this out when it finally gets released!
I was able to enjoy a most wonderful experience. An elegant brunch coupled with a refreshing mimosa and a was able to note that the place has had an uptick in attention of late the eggs were on point!
Ordered online via uber eats, order was accepted and preparing and only after 30 mins was cancelled. Attempted a second time was cancelled again after it was preparing for 20 to 30 mins.
Remove yourself from Uber eats if you cannot service an order rather than mislead customers and leave them hanging. It is highly unprofessional. Will not order from this outfit again.
Kind Regards
Will
We had a breakfast at this beautiful Cafe. The staff were very friendly and excellent service and food. My first time here, what a secret little spot tucked away behind The Como. We will be back.
Terrible experience. I attend here often and the menu is usually exceptional. Today, it was inedible. Excessively salted fries, sandwich with dry toasted stale sourdough, and filling that was flavourless. Very disappointed.
We made a huge effort in getting my grandma and the family to this cafe for lunch to celebrate her birthday. The venue is going through a menu change and didn’t have half the things they advertised on the menu and didn’t give any pre-warning about it. Renovations are currently happening on the building opposite and we’re extremely noisy.
Felt the staff were unapologetic and didn’t care about our special occasion. My corn fritters were tasty, however not many child friendly options for my 3 year old niece ($14 charged for a ham and cheese toasted sandwich!)
If waiting 45minutes for coffee (& when it does finally come it's not the large latte you ordered) is your morning ritual, then this is the place to go! If you like to be told "we're understaffed" but we're still charging Public Holiday surcharge.book now!
Service want the best, I'm guessing understaffed. Everything I wanted wasn't available. Lovely outside seating area. Poor staff seemed under the pump
This restaurant should be rated well above 4 stars. Had a lovely breakfast.
Note. If you don't like waiting cause you can't make a booking; or you get upset cause the staff dont smile at you cause they are busy; or you just like complaining in general then it's probably not the place for you.
Have a beautifully curated picnic at Stables of Como stunning secret garden. $49.50 per person is luxe but the picnic box was seriously so good! A perfect date spot!
Beautiful location with Terrible customer service. Staff had no idea what was going on, no smiles, no asking how everything was. Wrong drinks were being served. Even after another staff member coming to double check our drink order. Arrived a few minutes early to the booking and was asked to come back in 7mins for the booking time. For the price I would expect better service than than a fast food franchise. The social media posts are fabulous, but the service is a real let down, clearly no one has had any training. Unfortunately would never recommend this place to anyone.
Had a lovely lunch with my mum, sister, and niece today! Drinks and food came promptly, and all looked and were delicious! These recent bad reviewers don’t take into account that everywhere is severely short staffed due to covid, and we felt the girls today did a great job despite it being busy and 30+ degrees! Please remember to be kind to hospitality staff during these times!
Not bad as a cafe, coffee was good and food was nice except it’s all a bit too salty. Would be excellent if all the dishes have less salt in them. I think next time I’d try their picnic basket.
Great spot to have a picnic, quiet area with a good view of the gardens and Como house. The picnic hamper that we got was not worth it's value, although the food was great.
Booked our wedding with these guys but had to reschedule because of COVID. They kept our $1,000 deposit despite providing us with no services and rejected our request to refund half of the deposit. They said they were going to issue us with a voucher but the voucher never came. I would avoid in future.
Slow service, booking was at 12, didn't get given our menus until 12: 45, food out at 1: 30. Our orders weren't right. Went to pay bill, had to wait again while staff stood around talking. Then they didn't know what we ordered! Ordered take away coffee then went to wait, a lady had to ask again "what did you order"? ! Are you serious? So unfortunate for such a beautiful place.
Como house and garden are great but the Stables of Como Cafe is terrible. Innatentive and rude staff, poor service and TERRIBLE coffee. Probably the worst soy latte I've ever had. Do not recommend
Understaffed and over priced.
I went to a work lunch and paid $50 for a 'set menu' without alcohol. Which actually worked out to be 1 aranchini ball, eggs on toast with a coffee.
No split bill.
Almost impossible to flag down the waitress. Only two, trying to serve almost 50 people and a tiny place.
I think I'll give it a miss next time thanks.
Personally I found this place underwhelming. For all the hype I was pretty disappointed. Had my sisters hens do here. Event staff are so slow to respond although helpful when you finally make contact. On the day they served incorrect menu. Some of the food was good then rest take it or leave it. I thought the place looks run down and in need of some love.
