The Quarter reviews
76I discovered this place via eat club and have been going back ever since. Love their ambience and menu options. As a vegetarian, loved their risotto, gnocchi and haloumi burger!
I stumbled across this laneway gem through EatClub's $5 feast week. Despite the deal technically being for takeaway, the lovely waitress gave me a table.
I ordered the Reuben Sandwich, which was served quickly yet clearly made carefully. The rye was toasted to perfection, and the pickles, sauerkraut and Russian Dressing perfectly complimented the delicate layers of corned beef. The steak chips were thick, crispy and nicely battered (only perhaps needing a tad more salt).
The café's decor and open window design are unique and inviting. I will definitely be back!
Always a pleasure to sit and enjoy a great coffee and a delicious breakfast while watching the world walk past.
Have been here 2 years ago, visiting from sydney and remembered it for its incredible food and service. I am sitting here in the restaurant as i type this, and yet again 2 years later have been greeted with the same great service. This cafes food, atmosphere and overall standard is the highest i’ve been to in melbourne.
Wow! What can I say but.the best meal and service in Melbourne.
Been going for 4 years when here for the Trade Fair.
See you all next year!
Unprofessional service and most of my orders weren’t put through. One of the front of house waiter was drinking whilst on duty. Waited approximately 30mins for my entree to arrive and only to find out that my mains are missing. I’m not going to this place anymore.
The service was quick. The food was well cooked and the menu had a good selection. It is an authentic Flinders Lane experience. Out the choices available it had the best options. It also offers coffee, beer, and spirits but no wine. I consider it one of the better choices of the area.
Gotta be the best coffee I have tried!
Very creamy and smooth. Friendly barista and affordable coffee.
Fantastic food and reasonably priced - try and get here before it gets too busy the poor staff were flat out!
Coffee wasn’t really all that great, it’s pricier than your average latte. Service was friendly and attentive. Got some garlic bread as a snack and wasn’t much better than store bought, probably could do better.
The best thing was the crackling in my sandwich. There was a good ambience, however a good half hour for my order to turn up.then I had to remind them I still had wine to come.
The chips were not crunchy, and half cold.
There was more crackling in the sandwich than pork, and I could not taste any of the bourbon BBQ sauce.
The tea was bitter.
Came from sydney to try Melbourne infamous coffee. Unfortunately for me I was disappointed. I ordered a almond latte & my partner ordered an cappuccino both our coffee came out extremely hot & the milk was very frothy not smooth as we expected. Was very similar to America style coffee.
I love this cosy corner of Melbourne for a yummy gnocchi or risotto. Good food and comfy atmosphere. Long time fave.
Cosy, warm and friendly atmosphere. Good quick service. Reasonable pricing for reasonable food and coffee.
Very disappointing service. Waited at least 30mins for our meals. Watched three other tables get served, eat and leave during that time. Small meals given the prices. Would NOT recommend!
My daughter & I visit Melbourne every year for a taste of winter (we’re from Brisbane) and to enjoy the food, wine, coffee & culture and we never miss an opportunity to dine at The Quarter, often several times over the course of our visit. We love this cafe. The staff are wonderful and always take such good care of us. The food, wine and coffee are outstanding. This little gem is authentically Melbourne through and through with loads of personality and ambience. This year my husband joined us for part of our visit and he too was very impressed. Thank you Tony and staff for making us feel so welcome. Until next time. Donna & Tim
