I went for ADHD treatment as I was referred by my doctor, had to wait six months and was told the consult would be $100 and had to pay up front. When I finally went to the session, which was quite basic, I was told to pay an extra $500 for the remainder then also pay upfront for any future sessions. If I knew the fees were so extortionate I wouldn't have bothered.

As someone with a disability that affects my physical mobility I can assure you, you will be treated with kindness and respect by the nursing staff. Every effort to help you and make you comfortable is made.

I only have a few complaints like why can’t I have a heat pack for my chronic pain? “Because it’s an item of risk! ” How ever if you come in with a lighter (like for a smoker) you can have that on you at all times. How does this make sense?

There should be GP’s on the weekends it is a hospital after all. I had a sever UTI Saturday at 3am so bad I couldn’t sleep because of pain and wasn’t seen to till Tuesday because there was no GP and I ended up with an infection all the way up into my kidneys because of this. As a private hospital/clinic this is simple unacceptable.

The photos show The Melbourne Clinic’s idea of what passes for dinner. I haven’t touched either yet this is how it came and it was one of the nicer. The food is appalling not only is it horribly presented it’s tasteless, processed, gluey, chuncky, sloppy or leaves you completely guessing as to what it’s supposed to be. I’ve never been in a private hospital where the food is so bad it comes close to the public system. Please get a better chef and change the food most patients end up getting Uber eats because we literally can’t stomach the food. I’d love to see the people that make it and approve this as edible actually have to eat just this for a week. Also why can’t you use fresh eggs for breakfast. Or in the frittata that you make, and also fresh potatoes when you’re making mash potato instead of instant powdered stuff not only is one more healthy but it’s also not that hard to make. Too many corners have been cut when it comes to the meals at this hospital they are disgusting to look out to eat and they smell terrible to.

STAY AWAY. The staff organised for me as an inpatient for three weeks I then upgraded my private health insurance, used my once in a lifetime waiver, got all my affairs in order (work clients, insurance suspensions ect) just to be told 2 days before hand that they had made multiple mistakes and I'm actually an outpatient, now I'm stuck with the choice of paying higher premiums or losing my once in a lifetime waiver

This place is great. The staff have bubbly, warn personalities and the place is homely. It takes a few days to settle in, but I didn't feel alone, I felt like the staff were meeting me where I was at.

Not very trans friendly. On my first visit I’d filled out the form but nobody referred to me using my correct name and pronouns. Even after I had emailed them requesting to change my details in the system, I still received calls+messages from them using the wrong name. They said that they needed a new referral letter from my GP to input the correct name, but I have never had this requirement with any other clinic, and it will cost me money to do so. The psychiatrist I saw was quite nice but seemed to have no idea how to deal with gender issues and simply did not acknowledge it at all whenever I brought it up in session. It seems that the rainbow posters put up everywhere in the building are mostly performative as there is no basic training for LGBTQ+ inclusivity and the systems are poorly configured to deal with name+pronoun differences.

Was promised a call back but received nothing. It's been nothing but a bad experience - from trying to get access to the building for an appointment first thing in the morning to waiting times.

If I could give zero, I would. This place left my family member is isolation for the whole day. There was no food or drink supplied, no check in. No Guidance. There is no security for people admitted, where my close family contact was able to walk out, after they were told, no doctor, no care plan for 3 days. Had they been suicidal, I would hate to think what would have been the outcome. For a clinic to be specialized in this area, they certainly have a lack of care for their patients. Really upsetting.

Unfortunately, management is focused on profits and risk management and consequently steps on some authentic, talented and caring psychiatric staff. Not a recommended choice for you or your loved ones. Choose a hospital that is genuinely focused on your health and recovery, not a hospital that is about your cheque book and driving patient turnover for profit. You have better choices, seek them out!

Posting on my other account as I have never used my other for reviews. My name is Bailey Butler. Bruce Singh is an absolute legend at what he does and he is turning my life around.
Since I started seeing Bruce I have:
Started coding every day
Started working out atleast 3 times per week
And feel 100x better in general. Thank you for diagnosing me and helping me so quickly Bruce!

Bonus: I forgot to ask for repeats on something I take and called up his admin, they told Bruce and had a repeat sent to my nearest pharmacy. It literally could not be easier for me to be treated.

Thanks Bruce and team, you're all amazing people. Some of the few people in this world I can say did nothing but make my life easier and did their jobs at the highest of standards.

Update: as of a month and a half ago I started full time employment after years of being unemployed, wholey attributed to treatment provided by DR Bruce.

My experience so far with The Melbourne Clinic has been nothing short of disappointing. I think it's important that reviews like this are written and shared as a place that is supposed to help people who suffer from mental health issues should not have such incompetent admin staff. I was told I was covered for the day program in January which I didn't believe was the case as my two month waiting period wasn't over. They told me I was definitely covered and sent me details of the program. A few days later I get a frantic call saying I wasn't covered yet, but would be able to call Medibank and apply the mental health waiver. Surprise surprise, I wasn't eligible for it. The Clinic blamed Medibank for this but it was their mistake. I had to go through an investigation with Medibank which added to my stress and anxiety. The Clinic informed me that I would be eligible for the day program commencing in March and until then would be able to attend their anxiety and depression sessions. They never followed up on this. Today I received a call from them asking me if I wanted to be admitted as an inpatient on Monday. This is not something that was ever discussed and the person on the other end of the line clearly had no knowledge of my history. Avoid this place like the plague.

This clinic is horrendous. A family member of mine was admitted, she has come out worse than she was before she came in. They drugged her up everyday with valium, wouldn't even let us visit her inside even though the program literally says we are allowed to come in during treatment with the permission of the patient. During social and group times, she was told off by other group members for talking about her emotions, the staff fears a lot of the patients and therefore said nothing and keeps all the patients drugged up. They allowed her to leave in a suicidal and drugged up state, a few days later she was found passed out in a park alone, where police escorted her to the hospital in critical condition. Due to their negligence to admit her into the rehabilitation program after the detox program, she ended up being robbed and left unconscious almost dead. The professor told her she was too unwell to get well so she gave up.

Having been an inpatient at TMC I most certainly received the proper diagnosis and medical help I so desperately needed. Infact TMC saved my life. All staff were non discriminate, non judgemental, kind, considerate, and always available. I've been in many hospitals all my life & TMC are by far the best. Rooms were fantastic, meals were great & overall, If you must go to a Mental Health facility TMC is the one. 10/10

Good place for specialist psychotherapy programs. Not so great in terms of patient mix. Even when doing a specialist program you just don’t know who’ll be in the room next to yours.

This is a unique hospital. But I was worst off getting treatment there. I would not recommend this Facility to Anybody. I went for Panic Disorder and it started me on to Drug addiction. Thankyou Jesus for getting me out of the Melbourne Clinic.

Take the reviews on here with a grain of salt.
I have been coming to this clinic for just over 10 years on and off as an inpatient and outpatient for various reasons. I have seen and heard many horror stories and there are absolutely doctors, staff and patients within the clinic that at times do more harm than good. However, this is a massive hospital with many different wards, doctors and staff and ones experience in one may completely differ from another. I absolutely do not recommend the eating disorder program I was in and out for its years and I only began to get better when I decided not to return. On the other hand - the addictions unit and the team that are part of it are amongst some of the best I’ve come across. The program is challenging but well designed for addiction and mental health with highly competent staff. I have been seeing Professor Gijsbers for nearly 3 years and his knowledge, kindness and belief in me has gotten me through times I wouldn’t have gotten through on my own. I will say I did have a horribleness experience with Dr Sujeevan. He had absolutely no regard for my well being at all and grossly mishandled me whilst I was in crisis. Not only did he decide to suddenly drop me as a patient he refused to admit me even though my GP had contacted him multiple times out of severe fear of my safety. When he DID drop me the way he did was awful. He said and I quote - “you make me anxious and uncomfortable, your trauma and issues are too complex for me To handle I don’t know what to do with you getting worse” and that was that with no effort to refer me to someone else. Thankfully I found another great doctor there and all others I have seen have ranged from competent to brilliant. He was the exception.
So all being said, be aware if you come here that just like many places it is varied and differs in experience for everyone. Overall it’s helped me significantly and I definitely recommend and encourage anyone looking for help with substance abuse/addiction to look in to this clinic.

Absolutely horrible experience with my brother going there for severe depression symptoms. Please anyone do not see Dr Schuyler Tan especially, he is completely incompetent as a psychiatrist it's a danger to his patients. He also does not care about his patients and treated my brother horribly which made me fear for his mental health even more. He was forced to take an antipsychotic even though he was depressed and instead of working has made him feel much worse in the past but they did not care. I'm going to go as far as to say Dr Tan set up my brother on purpose to send him to Alfred with a diagnosis of schizophrenia which no other professional would agree to and has never had a symptom close to. This man should actually be investigated for his practices and should definitely not be in his role. My family will be following up on this. To anyone else. Please stay away from Dr Tan

If you are looking for assistance with mental health treatment do not see Asthar Tomar. She was 15 mins late, had no record of our previous telehealth conversations and made me start over after 5 or 6 sessions. She over prescribed anti depressants for anxiety and didn't listen to a thing I said. I've now learned that my overwhelmed feelings and trouble has been undiagnosed ADHD. I told her from day 1 I did not have depression. She was rude and made me feel worse to the point I left in tears feeling helpless and suicidal. I have spoken with my gp and have been referred to someone who actually cares about her patients and I don't feel as if my feelings are invalid and no longer feel as if my medical professional is neglecting my basic needs.
