Unfortunately I can recommend this place. As a long term patient of this place and others, I can only encourage you to find an alternative clinic for an inpatient stay. As desperate as you are, try somewhere else. There are still some good people on staff (rare) and some newer wards but overwhelmingly the place has gone so downhill from only an “average at best” standard almost across the board in the past. It must be a very challenging job to run a good mental health clinic, currently the place is way below-par. Concerningly so.

When your Dr blames you for your daughter leaving hence why you are the way you are. Poison words when all blame is shifted to me. It's not a safe place, only 2 staff members I trust in day program, but assuming you'll be back after being tossed out, as they suggest, then being told thats not the case is lies. It is dangerous and confusing for the person who was targeted.this is nothing more than playing with people heads.

Didn’t appreciate how poorly I got treated few years ago. Will never enter the building again. 35 years ago this place was like my second home and always felt welcomed. U had the best cafe until it sold up. Please try and improve your hospital or at least start to care about your patients. They all need it especially when they aren’t well. BGs rock 1989.

I have to admit after reading the reviews about The Melbourne Clinic I was very anxious.
But after attending the clinic & completing the Get Well Program I believe the program & The Clinic are well worth attending.
I felt Safe & Supported. The nursing staff, psychologists & psychiatrist are kind, caring & more than willing to assist with your individual needs.
You get out of the program what you want to put in. There is no judgment only support. The tools I learnt will no doubt support me in the future with my mental health.
Thanks to All at the Clinic

I don’t normally write reviews, however I feel I should provide some feedback regarding my experience with one of the reception staff at the consulting suites. I had an appointment scheduled with my psychiatrist but I realised I hadn’t received the usual confirmation text, so I called the rooms to double check. The receptionist I spoke to seemed to have no idea what she was doing and couldn’t understand what I was asking. She told me that I didn’t have an appointment booked for today, and didn’t provide any further explanation or offer to find a solution. My psychiatrist is an excellent doctor and I’ve been seeing him regularly for years, and I’ve never encountered this level of incompetence with reception before. I work in patient administration at a busy private hospital so I understand there’s a lot to navigate, but when patients are unable to communicate with their doctors directly, there is no room for administrative errors or overbooking appointments and poor communication, especially in a mental healthcare setting where the psychiatrists availability is limited. Any secretarial, clerical and other administrative failures compromise patient care and safety, especially those with complex mental health needs and high-risk patients. It is easy to forget that admin processes and front-desk staff can directly affect patient care and wellbeing even though they are not clinicians. I highly suggest that the clinic ensure their staff are adequately trained and place high importance on effective communication skills.

I will add that I’ve been an inpatient at the Melbourne Clinic and always received excellent care from the nurses.

After coming across the negative feedback here, I was taken aback. Although initially hesitant to leave my own review, I couldn't help but feel it was unjust to let others form a negative opinion of The Melbourne Clinic, considering the remarkable work I personally witnessed them do. By adhering to the established guidelines and pursuing a shared objective, your experience with them has the potential to be truly transformative, leaving a lasting positive impact on your life.

I had a great experience with my psychiatrist at the time however the clinic itself does not provide any appointment reminders. As a patient with ADHD working a casual job and doing the best I can to take care of my mental health the simple fact that this clinic doesn't provide ANY appointment reminders seems like a huge oversight. Appointments can cost around $500, can take MONTHS to book and if you miss one, you have to pay a fee of over $150. Absolutely ridiculous. I stopped going here and thankfully my psychiatrist has moved to another practice that provides both email and SMS reminders.
For the sake of future patients please remedy this Melbourne clinic. Not everyone can afford to wait months for an appointment, only to accidentally miss it and then pay a hefty fee for doing so.

Dr. Bruce Singh, WORST psychiatrist ever, stay away, RUN. I saw Dr. Singh about three years ago, he was my first psychiatrist, diagnosed me with bipolar in first session, recently confirmed by several mental health worker, psychologist, GP and new psychiatrist that I DONT have bipolar. But Singh prescribed me medication after first session, kept putting me on different medications, even double doses for lexapro and sodium valproate when it didn’t work really well for me. WORST DOCTOR EVER. Extremely rude and disrespectful attitude and unprofessional work ethic. He should lose his license and stop damaging patients. He was very mean at certain scenarios, don’t even wanna bring it up again.

Not a bad facility and not bad staff at all.

However I would not recommend the detox facility to anyone with a heroin problem, or who has a using history in North Richmond, as the doctors are far too relaxed in giving people leave from the clinic. You will be offered unescorted leave for one or two hours a day from day 3 of detox, when symptoms and cravings are at their strongest. With Victoria St and the supervised injecting facility only 5 minutes walk away, they really shouldn't be surprised that heroin users who knocked around Richmond end up lapsing.

They really need to make the detox more lockdown like the public facilities, or at least do three drug screens a week and make the patient agree to the terms. And provide more activities on the weekendsF like attending online smart recovery meetings or even physically going to AA/NA as a supervised group.

Yet to have a call returned. Calling over 2 weeks, for the clinic. Have emailed, texted, left messages- nothing. Concerns me between lack of customer service, and other reviews. Hate to have a real problem and have to get a real person on the line. Do better

I have been a patient at the Melbourne Clinic on and off 5 times this year, as well as an outpatient doing ECT.
Whilst I haven’t had anything to do with the groups run, every other aspect of the hospital has truly been brilliant.
I have mostly stayed on unit 8 which have just been exceptional. The nurses are by far the best.
I want to particularly thank the ECT team who are nothing short of amazing. It’s quite scary having your first ECT but the nurses and doctors did everything they could to make it as smooth as possible. I’d love to thank some nurses in particular, Justin and Julie. I would only offer one critique and that’s to one of the anesthesiologist (I believe his name is Dr Liu) who isn’t great. Otherwise to the ECT team thank you, you’ve played a significant role in me still being here.
Biggest thank you goes to my psychiatrist, Dr Keleher. Extraordinary doctor and person and I’m so grateful I have her in my corner.

Brought someone to be triaged. And, I needed a disabled toilet. I asked reception if there was disabled toilet, specifically grab rails. No was the response. Guess what, two toilets on ground floor,
near lift, neither has hand/ grab rails.
Whilst there may or may not be any obligation for rails by the organisation. Surely in 2022, I would expect better.

I would give zero stars if I could. There were blood stains on my curtains, the nurses were absolutely terrible and my psychiatrist saw me twice over my four week stay. She put me on medications that were detrimental to my health and misdiagnosed me. They only allowed you out four times a day for 30 mins. The groups were terrible, and they couldn’t cater to a vegan diet. I had to eat salad wraps for every meal. The rooms were very outdated, and one night a male patient tried to enter my room and the nurses disregarded it. Do not go there, and do not see Dr Dilani Deluwatte. Terrible waste of time, money and made my mental health poorer. They’re on it for the cash.

The staff at Melbourne Clinic are outstanding. Their expertise, kindness, compassion & understanding really made a huge difference in getting me back on my feet. I'm very grateful I was able to access such excellent treatment.

On my last admission, I took a serious fall in the shower on the morning I was to be discharged, which I reported to two nurses on my unit. They were so busy, they couldn't even find the time to takes my obs before I left. I doubt the incident even made it into the notes. The level of care at this hospital has sunk to a level which is beyond deplorable; it's virtually non-existent. I have since spent time on the psych ward at a public hospital, which compared to TMC remarkablly well - this doesn't say a lot for the Melbourne Clinic as a private facility. I've had an almost 30-year association with TMC; it's over now, I will never go back, nor would I ever recommend going there to anyone else. One enters hospital in the hope of getting better, not to end up feeling so much worse. Disgraceful. If possible, I'd rate it zero stars.

Melbourne Clinic has definitely gotten worse in some ways over the years, mainly on things like the stricter rules on leave.

The biggest mistake made has to the taking away of a Smokers Courtyard. As it means Smokers (of which in Mental Clinics there are more than a few) have to smoke outside in one of the more unsafe places in Melbourne.

The positives are that the rules do in most cases eventually get rid of any patients who may be harmful to other patients. These types of incidents are part and parcel of Mental Health Clinics. In this regard, other Clinics in Melbourne (VC & EP) are not nearly as good at providing this kind of safe environment.

The Clinic also provides sufficient space on each ward so patients aren't left with only their rooms. Patients are not forced either in an already difficult time to share rooms.

There is an extensive enough program for those who wish to attend class. They also importantly have the best TMS setup and ECT setup in Victoria. (Due to the Pychs who run these programs.

Mental Clinic reviews are generally one sided and often on the angry side. I felt complied to write a balanced review as the place its not anywhere near perfect.

Yet in providing a safe space (and taking in account it's size) I feel that Melbourne Clinic do a descent job. They usually handle issues quickly and eradicate those who are causing them from causing further harm.

Terrible experience. Strung along for 5 months, only to be declined a psychiatric appointment every single time with no reason given. Directed us to attend the GP 3 times. First referral rejected. No reason given. Told to go back, another referral for a 291 assessment, also rejected, no reason given. Did not even contact us, expected us to go back to the GP a 3rd time to be told all referrals had been rejected. 5 months later, still desperately needing to see a psychiatrist for 14 year old daughter. Would be much nicer to say no straight away than all the wasted time and cost and anguish of this. Came highly recommended from a friend, we would not recommend to anyone. Disgusted!

PLEASE Stay away from this place, and the end of the day it’s a business run for profit siphoning insurance money, they don’t care for your well-being so please stay away from this place. I’m so appalled at the service that this place offers, rude staff, doctors who don’t really care as they only want your money!
I can go on and on but I won’t, even just writing this review is giving bad flashbacks and severe anxiety but I feel compelled to write this so others don’t get caught in this awful Trap.

We have been waiting for a report from Dr Julie Wehbe for more than eight weeks. Our son has now started school without the care and support than he needs. It is most upsetting.

The Melbourne Clinic is no help at all, after my last admission, I was released from the clinic mid-psychosis and suicidal, I was evaluated by a 'Doctor' as of sound mind and fit for work, that I most certainly was not, three days later with no support, I attempted to take my own life.

I had spent three five week stints at the clinic in total over two years, yet I never got well. After my admission to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, I was linked in with free, public mental health outreach, free drug and alcohol support, and a suicide prevention caseworker. In 24 hours of being in the public system, I had all the answers I was looking for, that 15 weeks of staying in the clinic could provide.

It's a few years on now from my last stay at the clinic, and I am in such a healthy and happy place than I was there. I highly advise utilising the public system, as they are not bound by profit in helping your needs.

I don't know of anyone that has gotten better from being at the clinic long term. The clinic places profits above patients needs. Save your money and stick with the public system, they want to help you because it is their passion to help people, not because you're being gouged for cash.

Reach out for help, there are so many free services for you in the existing public health community, by people who are invested in helping you, not from profiting from you.

I saw a previous comment recommending visiting ratemymd, I highly advise you do it, you may well be surprised by how bad their rating actually is.
