They took my unfinished tofu bowl away from me whilst I was in the toilet. On Easter Sunday this year (2021) I was there with my partner's family and I went to take my routine 40 minute toilet break. It would be fair enough if no one else was sitting there on the table and I didn't tell staff, but there were 5 others sitting there waiting for me.

Apparently waiters came by multiple times to ask if I was done with my food in which my partner's family requested them to leave it. Apparently sometime after the 3rd attempt a waiter swooped in and took my tofu bowl without question.

I won't be coming here again next year.

Good local pub, meals in the main bistro/lounge are well regarded as are the pizzas and burgers in the bar

The absolute worst Mother's day experience I've ever had here and we have come here alot of times. Set menu was $50 for two meals which was a complete rip off. My main was tiny and took hours to come out. Others meals on our table came out over the next two hours with different serving sizes and undercooked. Had to ask for everything. Missing chairs, menus, food, desserts - we asked over 20 seperate times with promises of it coming but it never did.it got to the stage where the waitresses were avoiding us. This has ruined The Laruel for us and we won't be coming back.

We are so lucky to have a pub in the area like this that offers so much more variety than your normal pub food and such a cosy vibe.been here forever & we can see why

Went last week.

Best thing was a nice short in height waitress, at the start, who we had spoken on the phone earlier that day when we called about opening hours. And she remembered the phone conversation.
She was lovely and wished she had served us.

The menu has improved by adding more items, food was way over priced now and it seems to go up alot, without tasting any better.

An older woman, may be the owner or manager was giving dirty looks at customers and seemed annoyed customers were present.
A smile is free you know. Seemed more interested in looking after the kids with her.

Service was extremely slow, that has been an issue for years and has still not improved.

Wait staff had no idea who ordered what. Two plates were put down, and asked is that it. (4 adults at table)
We said no, 2 of us still don't have food. Wait staff offered no apology.

Then another plate came out 15 minutes later.

And another long wait for the last plate. A rude waitress asked who is this for. My female friend raised her hand and said I'm the only one without.
Waitress scoffed and said two times, who has the chicken.

For female friend meal only the potatoes were good.
Chicken was hard and dry. Sauce tasted funky and not good.
Tiny amount of veggies, 3 carrots on the plate. 2 beans and broccoli was rock hard and barely cooked.

On the way out, wanted to order some chips for sick flat mate at home. Asked if they did takeaway. Male Waiter asked why, explained wanting to take food home for room mate.
Waiter seemed unsure, and said ok he would come around soon and take the take away order after he dealt with customers at another table.

Went to bathroom which was disgusting, not clean, and not designed for my friend who has a disability.

Female friend was last one left as she was going to wait for the chip. When she returned from the unclean bathroom, the waiter was finishing with other customers then disappeared.

Female fruend asked where the waiter had gone, another male waiter didn't seem to understand the question.

Disappointed. We have been going to the Laurel on and off since 1994. And it's gotten worse, prices gone up really high while good taste has gone down.

This place needs a management change asap, there is a lack of communication with customers and was treated with complete disrespect from the older female manager.

I've never felt the need to leave a negative review for an establishment before, but today I feel like I need to share the experience Ive had. Firstly, if you are going to have a set menu, make it known at the time of booking and make sure the food is edible. Secondly, the wait time for food. 3 hours later and half the table hadn't received their meals. I understand it's mother's Day but how can half get their meals and the others can't. Lastly the older lady (manager?) could do with an attitude adjustment. I would be embarrassed to work here. Never again will our family be returning. The only positives are the lovely 2 waitresses trying their best.

Great venue but can be cold in the Bistro. The Parmas on Parma night are varied and very tasty. Staff are very friendly.

A $50 set menu we weren’t advised of at booking consisted of 2 meals. I chose Entree of Liver Pate with not enough Brioche to eat the Pate & it was not toasted as menu suggested. I had to remove the Fat from top of Pate. Surely this could have been done in the kitchen. Main Chicken Ragout.wrapped in uncooked Bacon with fat everywhere. Sat down at 1pm we still hadn’t received some meals by 3.30pm. Some sides were not served at all.
My family has attended this venue on Mother’s Day for many years with no set menu. We won’t be returning on Mother’s Day ever again. After so many complaints, we received apologies but it ruined our Mother’s Day!

We celebrated my birthday at the Laurel function room upstairs with roughly 60-80 people in attendance. The room was terrific and spacious, it is split across a few different sections. We had our own private entrance, bar, outside area and toilets. It is perfect for a party. There are two rooms for socialising or using a screen then a seperate space for the DJ and dance floor to be set up! We had an AWESOME night and boogied all night. Thank you to all the staff at the Laurel for making it such an incredible time!

Have been to this restaurant for the past 5 years for various occasions and all have been great until today. This has been by far the worst attempt at service i have ever seen. 2 hours for a kids pizza and 3 hours later from ordering and still all the meals arent here. Disgusting service and will never ever be coming back. The attitude of the "manager" is rude and pathetic.

VERY disappointed Ordered same meal many times during COVID. Same 2 meals cost an additional $17 tonight. Understand some increase but issues with quality of the meal. Had calamari, chips and salad x2. In COVID salad separate but now with the calamari so salad hot. Chips separate and soggy. Dressing just mayonnaise. Yuk

We held an 80th birthday party for my parents and uncle in the Bistro. Everyone had a lovely time and we received great feedback about the venue from our guests. The food platters were delicious and the service from the two young women attending to our guests was exceptional.
Organising the event was a breeze with the help of Barbara the functions manager. Thank you to everyone at the Laurel Hotel.

Our daughter celebrated her 21st at The Laurel Sat 20th March. We booked the Rooftop area and had approximately 60 guests. The night was BRILLIANT. From my fist phone call / visit to The Laurel the service at every level was exceptional. Staff took the time to show me all the options available, provided me with all necessary information, were always available to take my phone calls with questions or queries in an utmost professional and warm manner. The selection of food available was excellent. On the night the Rooftop was clean and all ready for us to decorate. It was cosy yet spacious enough for us to have a dozen + dancing the night away at any one time. The food served was absolutely delicious, served piping hot, beautifully presented and served by very caring staff ensuring all guests were fed. The staff behind the bar worked extremely hard and never once seemed flustered or too busy to serve our guests. The level of care and genuine desire to make our night a success was beyond my expectations. A HUGE thank you to Barbara for her administration and organizational abilities to get all organized prior to the event. On the night the HUGEST thank you goes to JOEL for his unbelievable and exceptional customer service, unwavering care attending to every minute detail to ensure the night was running perfectly to the end - and it did! Joel you were an absolute STAR and I can not thank you enough! All of our guests, young and old said what a brilliant night they had, commenting the food was fantastic and plentiful, venue was sensational and loved how it ran so smoothly and was absolute FUN. A shout out too to Lauren for your wonderful staff and to your Chef. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending The Laurel to anyone thinking of book The Laurel for their special event. THANK YOU!

We had a family celebration last Sat night at the Laurel. It turned out to be the perfect choice as we had a semi private area in the bistro (called the Atrium), was able to pre order antipasto platters for the tables and the pub menu offered grt variety for our 20 guests. Food was excellent value and delicious. The staff were very helpful. We will return.

Best pub in the area, but still pretty average. Food was OK but service was a bit slow and could be improved. Rooftop unfortunately not open on week days
