The European reviews
85 Great food, happy staff, good wine list-book now!
Was able to practice my French with the waitress. I used my entire vocabulary of 'Merci' at least 5 times!
Lovely venue with great service. Varied European menu: I had the roasted tongue, which you don't see offered often. Wines and liqueurs somewhat pricey, but worth it for the ambience.
One of my favourite restaurants. The food here is always sensational - this is coupled with the European style furniture and exceptional service.
There is no point in harping on about each dish. Just come here and try it for yourselves.
Had dinner here with my grandad who is 90. They put us in a quieter place by ourselves as my grandad is quietly spoken. I also have a host of dietary requirements which they easily accommodated for. Very pleased we will be back! Amazing service.
Came here for our last breakfast in Melbourne CBD. Absolutely delicious! Eggs Benedict were fantastic - with a freshly made hollandaise that had a lovely citrus balance and provided in generous quantities. We also enjoyed the Cumberland sausages, which were the most delicious I've tried in a very long time. Highly recommended.
Tasty food and good service. Flat white had no art and was too foamy. Croque Monsiour was a renamed ham and cheese toasted sandwich. Pleasant environment but was a little noisey. Quite expensive.
A culinary triumph, excellent service and food in a relaxed atmosphere. Devine gnocchi and bavette steak, could not fault it with enough options on the menu to suit any taste.
Great food and spectacular wine. Service was not as good as it had been though. Asked for bread 3 times and never got it.
I had visited Melbourne few years before, this place I still remembered clearly for its food, friendly staff and the wonderful scene dining in front of parliament house
Great wines by the glass, and well-executed classic bistro-y classics. A treasured respite from the frenetic thrum of all the uptotheminute LATEST-HIPPEST eating/drinking hole about town.
Absolutely beautiful meal and the coffee was delicious! Good service and lovely decor! Near train and tram! Will come back
Perfect place for a long lunch on a hot day. Shared a bottle of excellent prosecco with my friend and had the linguine with crab sauce, an exceptional dish. Service as always very good, they appear just when you realize you need them
Nice place staff friendly. Food was ok have had tastier eggs Benedict elsewhere at much better prices.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I am a big fan of the breakfast food, who can do no to black pudding?
A little cafeteria like. The food was just OK, at a fairly extravagant price. The woman who appeared to be a kind of authority figure in the restaurant (long red hair, as I recall) was just rude, and dismissive and didn’t have, or at least didn’t want to share, much about the dishes on offer. Perhaps she’s been there just a little too long
A beautiful dining experience where you are transported to Paris or Barcelona. Luckily the waiters speechless and the food and wine will leave you in awe.
Such an icon of Melbourne. Lovely food, attentive service. Not for the faint of wallet, but the quality matched the price.
When we travel to Melbourne, we always without fail have meal at this fabulous establishment. The food is fabulous and of the best quality and the coffee is to die for. You can eat outside on the street or inside. It is a wonderful experience with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. Love this place
Superb cuisine and service beyond reproach! Wine list however overpriced and for the Australian palate very limited.
Sorry guys. Overpriced and mediocre. Ham on my eggs benedict was delicious but the hollandaise was tasteless. My wife's cumberland sausage was raw in the middle and crumbled up when cut into (more cereal than meat?). The dodgy belly for the rest of the morning was not a glowing endorsement either.
