79 Quite Happy with Seniors Menu but the girl who took out orders was extremely rude. When I said that some of the pricing was confusing she replied with 'Well most people understood it' inferring that I was not bright enough to understand the pricing.
This was today 30th Jan 2024 at 12 pm.
Most disappointed with this staff member.
Food was okay. It was good enough but not exceptional. Reasonable priced. Great view and service was wonderful.
Wonderful view right on the water. One of my favourite spots for something tasty to eat and a cheeky beer or two. Great options for my gluten free (coeliac) partner as well.
GREAT PLACE FOOD AVERAGE SERVICE A LITTLE SLOW BUT A BEAUTIFUL DECK MADE UP FOR ALL WAS A LOVELY DAY
Very dissapionting seafood platter yesterday.we ordered 2.very basic. 1 and a half pieces of over done fish 4 oysters with only 1 wedge of lemon.the prawns on the skewers looked and tasted like defrosted frozen prawns just skewered.not cooked no dressing.not much effort put in at all.but you charged well over what it was worth.
Our lunch was delicious! I am known to always order a chicken burger - this was one of the best. Flavour was amazing, crumbed chicken was not oily at all. Very happy to return.
The venue itself is stunning with beautiful decor and stylish surroundings.
The staff were friendly and did their best to assist.
I wanted to start on a positive as the rest isn’t so.
Our food was ordered - three adults meals and one kids meal. The kids meal came out relatively quickly - 10mins tops.
And then we waited for our adults meals.
And waited.
And waited.
Our 8 year was done, including dessert, and he was starting to climb the walls after 30mins.
40mins later our adults meals arrived.
Calamari - dry, cold and absent of dressing and taste. The chips were good though but you’d be hard pressed to get fried chips wrong.
Salmon - over cooked. Plonked on a bed of smashed sweet potato that had been sitting way too long on the plate, under a warmer. The edges of the sweet potato mash had become dry and chewy. The broccolini had been…. Well…. Destroyed. Really well destroyed. Over cooked, left under a warmer too like it’s poor sweet potato cousin and it tasted like it had been abused to the point that all the flavor had done a runner.
My sons Korean Fried Chicken was inhaled. But he was ready to eat his own arm off by the time our meals arrived. The “KFC” was absent of any veges - not even a tokenistic side of greens.
Pricing? For what we received this was absurd. $34 for an overcooked, sub standard serve of salmon. Yeah nah - I’ll give it a miss….
The disappointing part is I dined here, with work colleagues, a few months ago.
The food was consistently poor across all meals on both occasions.
But I thought I’d give them a second chance to redeem themselves.
I should’ve gone to the real KFC and bought a piece of salmon from Woolworths.
Never.
Ever.
Again.
We are locals and get takeaway from the COVE because of convenience and large menu. However unfortunately all too often our order is often incorrect and we have to return to pick up a missing meal or grilled fish instead of fried despite calling to ask specifically for grilled immediately following submitting an online order. The quality of the meals can often be amazing but the service and communication lets this great venue down.
Has beautiful decor but no atmosphere, wait staff who seem untrained and inexperienced, lacking leadership, and for such a limited menu choice and the $$$$$$$ charged, one would expect at least an average meal - missed the mark sadly and is a shadow of its former self, no matter what they spend on decor.
Why would you scrap the vegan menu at a time of rapid growth and interest in vegan food? Short-sighted and disappointing.
Location and atmosphere is lovely and overlooking the water, shame the food was so bad! They used to have a great gluten free menu but that’s gone now and the choices are very limited. Had mushroom risotto but it was very bland. My partner had braised lamb which was no more than a lamb roast with an expensive price tag. We had another 6 people with us and no one enjoyed their meal and we all thought it was over priced! We would only come back for drinks so we can enjoy the meal!
Friendly service. However we always order the seafood platter for 2, and it was noticeably smaller this time and didn't seem as fresh.
Please bring back the paella for 2!
Food coordination was missing as some of of table had finished their meals before others arrived.
A lovely venue, on the water. Menu has not been updated for years. Our local and I wish like our fellow neighbours that it made the most of the loyal locals and visitors. Tonight we paid $4.00 per oysters which seriously were smaller than my pinky nail. We provided feedback and really we’re not looking for anything but to say we had never seen such small oysters and they should not have been served. The waitress advised something about 2 rather than 4? I would not have wanted to eat another 2 and so when we paid the bill we said we would pay for 4 not 8 and that was a shock, clearly must of been a misunderstanding on our behalf. We are within a 2 minute walk, supported by buying all our deliveries during lock down directly to the pub and am sorry to say terribly disappointed. Staff lovely but shame on you! You have lost some very loyal locals.
I went for lunch, and was very disappointed. Had to ask 3 times for water for my child and the meals were terrible. Not fresh at all. We will not be back sorry.
Use to go here quite a lot it’s always been pricey but food was ok. Went for lunch yesterday and were very disappointed. Service terrible forgot one of our meals. Then didn’t complete the meal left ingredients out. Won’t be going back there
Its convienient because of where we live
But the service is not what it used to be and prices are getting out of control. The air conditioning dosent get put on in the middle of summer. The people that work there are lovely and polite. Maybe they are like most other hospitality businesses a d just short of staff and trying to keep the costs down.
Ordered the seafood platter for 2. Good value for money and enough without feeling too full. There was an issue with a drink order as I was served Prosecco - as if anyone would actually drink that rubbish, but it was sorted without any problem. Froendly staff.
We were expecting more, the pasta was over cooked.saggy.
The setting is nice, nice location, but maybe we were not lucky with the food that day.
We went once years ago and it was lovely so we came back for a rare date brunch on Sunday 23/01/22. We ordered the seafood platter - it was awful. We couldn’t eat it.
Fish was frozen not fresh. Flavorless. Oysters and mussels were smelly we didn’t touch them. Cocktail Prawn overcooked. Even the battered fish was gross. So disappointed.
Even had to send the side plates back as they weren’t washed. They did offer us a free dessert but we just wanted to leave - we even left the bottle of wine half finished. Pretty view and nice service from the young wait staff but won’t be back
First time dining at the Cove. Pleasantly surprised. Good food and great service for a Friday lunchtime. Menu is simple and prices reflect a brilliant location.
Will be happy to book again.
