Temperance Hotel reviews
74Look the music is average, the drink are expensive, but you can always get in because it's not that popular, so I guess visit if the lines are too long along chapel?
Good food, good vive, need to turn down the live music by about 35%. It sounds good - great voice - but - just too loud to comfortably socialise over. Turn down the music a little
Well located on the heart of Chapel street. Modest facade with cosy & cute interior. Fantastic happy hour prices with casual outdoor seating.
Popped in on a Wednesday eve. Nice atmosphere/decor, sexy name, friendly staff, and good prices, even outside of happy hour. I look forward to getting to know this place better.
Large sized portions of food at a good price with daily specials. Live music on weekends. Comfy booths for dining. Friendly staff. Great fire area with couches to relax in.
Lovely place, warm interiors (leather and wood), during the day in winter they have a fire going, the bartenders are cute and easy on the eyes and at night on weekends it turns into a club / dance floor. LOVE THE TOILETS and ambience of the place! Makes for an easy laid back day drinking sesh and a happening fun night out!
Always good for a $18 steak/parma and drink on monday to wednesday. Place has recovered well since that unlucky day when the street fire hydrant burst and flooded the joint. Hopefully one day they will refresh the inside ceiling as it is a mix of about 5 different surfaces. Overall i like the place.
Perhaps not the best place to visit on a Sunday. We arrived just after 1pm and stood waiting for a very long time to be seated. Eventually upon noticing 3 staff members blatantly ignoring us and chatting behind the bar I asked if we could be seated. I was told "ahhh yeah sure" then waited almost 10 mins again to be served. We ended up leaving while the 3 staff members still stood chatting behind the bar.
Overall a nice bar, mostly friendly staff. $10 espresso martinis on a Saturday. Had to ask 3 times for the drink I had ordered with my meal though, would like to think it was because they were busy at the bar.they weren't.
My wife and I had dinner late here last night and we were extremely impressed by the $18 Parma and Beer or wine special. We expected the Parma to be half the normal size but no, they were full size Parma's and heaps of chips with a side of Coleslaw. Tasted great and the service was fantastic.
Really delicious steaks on their steak night Monday's. It's now a new favourite place to go too. Good service too. Was just here last Monday and it was so yummy!
For 100 dollars combined for a steak and one drink each we expected a better cut of meat and not a 45 minutes wait.
Food wasn't great, awesome service tho. Probably wouldn't return. For $24 the burger was average at best, luke warm chips.
Steak, chips and salad with a pot of beer for $18 on Mondays. If you do not necessarily like sauce on your steak ask your server to put it on the side as it comes on top. $7 happy hour pints only entail like 4 domestic beers.
We just had a fantastic experience last night upstairs at the Temperance function room.
My guests commented on how friendly the staff were, and complimented the way they looked after us all really well.
The management very helpful when it came to organising the event.
If you’re thinking of hiring somewhere for a special occasion I would highly recommend you speak to these guys.
Good spot for a quick tasty meal. Lunch specials are good as well. Friendly staff. Chicken caesar is recommended.
Nice local pub, good weekly specials. Both the Chicken Parmigiana and salt and pepper squid that we tried were very good.
So we had the steak and drink deal this evening. Wine was really good actually. Steak not so much. Left half of it chewed on my plate, sorry for that. And when asked how the food was and we had given our honest answer, we were responded with "few people have said that. Must be the cut. Not good hey". Nope not good. I'm now $18 dollars down and a little hungry. Good job I had the salad with it (rocket leaves). My two stars are for the wine and the nice guy at the bar. Cheers.
It is a criminal offence under local by-laws to stay in Melbourne and avoid eating a Chicken Palma washed down with a Carlton Draught. Both very good here
