Tao Dumplings

I was disappointed of the dumpling they made, it looked like it mix with some sort of powder, so we could not feel the beef flavor. My partner said it was like sausage dumplings. The meat was red, looked like uncooked. I really don’t recommend it.

BABY LEFT HUNGRY. Atrocious Customer service. Rude and Aggressive Staff. Worse than food court food! Money Hungry Staff. A disgrace. Cannot accept constructive feedback. The ONLY GOOD reviews are since 2017. FOUR YEARS AGO! And for Dumplings.
Any review of calamari or beef is BAD.

We ordered a few serves of dumplings which were ok. Rice ok. BEEF in Black Bean Sauce was an ABSOLUTE DISASTER! What followed was scary.

They serve the worst cut of beef (assuming its beef and not pet food). Because they buy cheap produce for $2 a kilo - they throw as much black bean sauce on to disguise the fat they try and pass off as Beef to drunk customers.

Those tricks work 20 years ago when I was 15 - not in the year 2020 or 2021.

We brought it to the waitress attention. The waitress first asked if it was undercooked or over to which I politely but firmly clarified that it was the CUT in general and it was full of fat.

My wife was even more in shock and did not touch it and so too my friend. Our baby also could not eat it -) so she starved.

Money Hungry: "Hi, buy more trash"
Once checking with the "Chef" the waitress came back and advised all the beef dishes are the same. There was NO offer for a replacement dish or replace with chicken/pork since their beef was lard.
They suggested I buy other items - why would I do that if all your beef is rubbish?

To be honest, beef was worse than some of the worst kebabs I have had or even frozen pies.

MIA: Missing in Action
I went again to chat but they hid behind and continued eating food together as staff and just ignored me. Like kids. They were having a picnic feast and NONE greeted me or tried to engage!
This is called BEING A CHILD and PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE.
If I walked out and did not pay, they would have definitely seen me. But because I got up to try and talk with a manager/chef … they continued stuffing themselves with food and ignoring me. Brilliant for business!
So I went back to my table and tried to force myself to eat lard and put the bad bits (most of them) in a serviette. I assume they eat the better cuts and all the fatty beef the staff cannot chew goes to customers!

Customer Service: Childish
Once this feedback was given, the kids (low social intelligence staff) never attended to our table to offer refreshments; water; cleared dishes.brilliant!
I went to pay and the only words that came out if their mouth was "$52.90".
No "how was your meal" "thank you".

Is this Melbourne Service or a downtown market in Saigon or Turkish Bazzzar.

Once I paid, I politely told them what I thought if their cuts of meat and they again acted like children.
Apparently, I might get a discount next time.
A huge shame.

Great dumplings plus the usual westernised Chinese fare. Byo and licensed. Very reasonably priced. Was busy in our Sunday evening visit so booking recommend.

Westernised Chinese cuisine. Vegetable dumplings are always good. There was too much salt in the black pepper beef though.

Great, simple vegetarian dumplings. Also the best vegetarian fried noodles ever. Perfectly simple and wholesome meals that aren’t trying to do too much. Will definitely be coming back!

Decided to try this place out as we want to find our new Chinese restaurant in the neighbourhood. We ordered some noodles, pan fried dumplings and hot & sour soup. We enjoyed the noodles with bean paste though it was on the sweeter side. The hot and sour soup was to die for and such a good size for a small, would recommend to others. The pan fried dumplings were a disappointment for us, it was a Bit dry and lacking in favour. The dumpling skin is also quite thick. Gonna to give it another try and see how it goes

Fell ill after ordering here from UberEats. I order from here quite regularly but I have been staying at home isolating myself after feeling feverish and coughing. Will not order from here again.

Kitchen closes at 21: 30. We arrived 5min before closing but they would not serve us in the restaurant (but would do take away). Disappointed.

I visited Tao dumplings for a work event on Friday night & had a great experience. Our team of 15 was able to fit comfortably in the upstairs areas & dumpling were great & very affordable. It was $11-$12 for 18 vege dumplings.

Such an extensive menu, amazing service and quick and tasty service. Would recommend for delicious dumplings and stirfrys

Went there with my Italian partner to try out some Asian cuisine. He loved the food a lot, especially the curry laksa. The only flaw: music and atmosphere not really relaxing.

Went to Tao, was pleasantly surprised with the main. However, seats were very heavy and therefore made a loud noise when moved. The table arrangements were awkward and the tables were too small. Other then that, I was happy with my experience. Would visit again.

Dumplings are good here. Fresh and tasty. Worth noting, they are so juicy they pop and the steam escapes so open them up before raising to your mouth! The service is quite good too.

Good atmosphere and friendly staff, who helped me practice my Chinese. Food is also great, with a broad selection of Chinese delights.

So delicious! Everything we tried was perfect and extremely well priced. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be going back!

We love coming to this place, the food is amazing. The service today however was very disappointing. If a customer asks you for something on your menu, you add it on. Not argue back, just do what you are paid to do.

This place is great. Delicious dumplings and other dishes too. I particularly recommend the stir fried green beans with minced pork, as well as the sizzling fried eggplant and pork pies with teriyaki sauce (heaps of garlic though!). Had a group of 20 for a party and it worked well in the upstairs loft. Great value too!
