My Review:
Having embarked on my educational journey with a clear goal in mind, I chose to pursue a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and Criminology through Swinburne Online at Swinburne University. As a resident of regional Victoria, the convenience of online learning proved invaluable. The flexibility offered by the program allowed me to balance my studies with my other commitments.

In my pursuit of knowledge and growth, I made a significant decision to relocate closer to Swinburne University's Hawthorn campus. This choice was driven by the desire to make the most of the university's facilities and resources, including access to the campus internet facilities. By bringing myself closer to the heart of the institution, I aimed to enhance my learning experience and immerse myself fully in the academic environment.

As I progress through the next three years of my Bachelor's program, I am committed to reviewing and updating my experiences on an annual basis. With each passing year, I anticipate sharing insights into my academic journey, the challenges I've overcome, and the accomplishments I've achieved. By documenting my experiences, I hope to provide a comprehensive perspective on the Swinburne Online program, the transition to campus life, and the overall quality of education and support provided by Swinburne University.

As a student that is soon to graduate from the Master of Architecture and Urban Design, a lot of bad things can be said about this institution both at a faculty and university-wide level.

Firstly within the School of Design and Architecture, which in the last couple of years has seen a downward trend in morals, motivation and punctuality across the board. From little or no response to emails, to Staff who have little or no English proficiency or full Industry Experience and a lack of personal attention to borderline virtue-signalling. Me and my fellow peers, most of who came through the degree, particularly through lockdown were given the rough-end of the stick for the duration with lower than average marks, not enough to undertake further research study!

Secondly, the University seems to have a ‘weird fixation’ of student retention over the last 10 years, resulting in the majority of students encouraged not to work part time to make ends meet or trying to get a foot in the door starting their career

Thirdly, as far as “Real Industry Experience” is concerned, don’t believe a word. The majority of job placements are only obtainable on the basis of high merit.

Fourthly, Academic registry and Student services seem no better either, with no conformation of my course completion/conferral, despite my fellow peers hearing back otherwise.

Finally, the extra star is for the staff past and present who were willing to go the extra mile!

If you’re serious about Architecture and Design, consider UniMelb or RMIT. Where the courses, services and systems seem to be somewhat more stable and reputable!

The website is unusable, the campus is boring, my course is poorly organised. Some staff seem to care I guess.

Disastrous management, faculty-first/university-first students-second approach, terrible staff communication. Had countless bad experiences with them.

Disastrous management, zero communication between piers of the lectures, overpopulated university that cant do everything that is needed. Don't go there.

Did an online course and it was terrible, the assessments were incredibly tedious and the apps/website/assessments are hard to navigate and seem very outdated. Something as simple as viewing a message form your assessor is made very difficult.

My husband completed his undergrad degree over 5 years, when it came time to graduate, they advised he was not eligible to although he had completed all required course work. 4 weeks later, was then advised yes you are able to graduate, our mistake. But have now missed the window to have attend graduation ceremony

Came to collect my testamur. No one has advised of any closures. Pretty pathetic effort. Just walked around the whole building in the rain looking for some help. Maybe some signage or notices to students would be nice.

I had the worst experience studying Nursing at this University, never received the support that I needed for my studies. Some of the trainers were biased as I am an international student and made my experience of studying even worse, I got extremely uncomfortable studying in such an unfavourable environment so unfortunately had to drop out from this University after wasting my time and money, I will not recommend anyone to study from this University. Doesn’t even deserve one star.

I submitted an application for a Master degree already 2 months ago and I haven't received any information about the application outcome or any further details. After sending many emails and no one ever replied, I decided to go to another university, which respects the time and effort of prospective students.

The system for handling the StudentHQ queue was great, I didn't need to wait in place. Staff were proactive in keeping the queue moving quickly.

A rocky start post pandemic, but very friendly teachers and plenty of in depth learning. On my way to a new career!

I am convinced there is only one person answering calls at Student HQ. Be prepared to stay number 1 in the queue for 45 mins.

Do not study towards a Business related degree here unless you have connections. I did exactly that and I am struggling to find employment although I am a local student and I now have a huge HECS debt. A waste of my time and HECS. Also, the course I studied was meant to be a career change for people like myself and before I started I asked the lecturer if they would teach us certain computer applications and I was told they would, but it was a lie because they did not and this is something that a person would need to use when working, the course was also outdated.

Disgusting. Never recommend anyone to study. Not only study but other facilities are also not good, specially for international students. It is sad to see and suffer, even though we had a serious global pandemic in the last two years, there were no serious efforts by the university for their international students. Not sure about local students, but my experience was a disaster.

About the study, I don't know what did I studies in my four semesters. So, don’t want to mention anything about study.

An institution which encourages medical apartheid and medical discrimination. Mandating a provisionally approved vaccine that doesn't even work. I wonder how much you were paid to play in this wicked game we all find ourselves in. Shame on you Swinburne. No longer a reputable institute.
