Stalactites Restaurant

Wasn't too thrilled to arrive early Monday morning after walking fair distance to get to it to find out was not able to buy food.

The guy explained open 24 hours but kitchen was shut.
Unsure if it was due to a kitchen issue or something he did not explain but wont come back again if come past to see if spontaneously shut.

I've heard of prices going up but a small skewer of lamb jumping from $8 to $11 overnight is nothing short of greed.
This is a restaurant that thinks because it's been around for years that it's prestigious but it isn't.
To charge $8 was ridiculous but to go up to $11 in one jump is greedy & shows what they're really like.
The food isn't that good.

This classic restaurant has to be my favorite Greek place in Melbourne - I've have been going for years and can't wait to take all my staff there for this years break up dinner. Opa!

I would give this place about 3.5 stars. The service is not particularly friendly, the food is tasty but a little overpriced (kids meals are about $20!), and the atmosphere is about average.

What a great idea, to have a 24/7 restaurant that's not sticky, dodgy or dirty and serves excellent food and has attentive staff! Thank you, managers of Stalactites for making a difference in the way we do a late night.

Melbourne institution, perfect go to for lunch or dinner.or to stop by for a feed after a night out. Kebabs are always tasty and so are the greek chips. Be prepared to wait for a table as they are always busy.

The service at Stalactites impresses. After a smashed glass at our table, the staff quickly and without fuss cleaned up the mess, moved us to another table and replaced our meals for fear of glass contamination. Thank you to the staff.

Very rude staff and got seated right in the middle of two tables basically on top of each other didn't even get to order wont go back

Ok 1st time here tonite with my wife! Very tiny very noisy.service slow but the lamb souvlaki & ice coffee with icecream (must add 4 sugars) were absolutely fantastic! The pastitsio was dry & i would never order it as long as i live! Not familiar with this dish but id rather go Italian & get a good soft saucy lasagne. I will be back for the iced coffee for sure! Happy eating all!

The food was great and the female waiters were good even thoe it didn't look like they were treated very nice buy what looked like the manager and there was an old guy that looked like the owner he had no people skills at all if you went on the way you got treated when walking in the door you would walk back out we went on the 14/10/18

Food: We had the mixed grill. Marinated chicken on a skewers, lamb cutlet, rissole, chips, salad extra pita bread on the side plus some beer to wash it a down.

Staff: very friendly service, mixed grill takes 25mins to make.

Wonderful pita bread and dipping suace to start the dinner, excellent souvlaki, very fragant and delicious grilled meat. Great and friendly service, even though I was first served by a very rude man when I greeted to ask for a table and his exact word was "wait outside".

It's always a great time at Stalactites. Good service and good service and good food at any time of the day or night hehe

I only ever get the mixed gyro with a large bowl of chips. I've never wanted anything else after that. Seasoning on the chips is the best kind of tangy, and the gyro is just such a huge serving of meat, you won't need anything else for the rest of the day.

They finally have a Gluten free and vegan pita option. Prices are pretty good and it's 24/7. Overall always a pretty good experience. Food is tasty and filling (You get what you pay for), bathroom is clean, tables and cutlery also clean and staff are pretty polite and friendly especially considering it was like 4am.

Yum, yum, yum. It's a bustling, tightly packed restaurant but well organised so service is fast. Good idea to book if you have more than 6 people. Staff are friendly and very helpful. One of my my favourite places to eat.

Service was friendly. A lot of them were from Greece. But can speak English perfectly. Souvlaki was nice but not up to my standard. Oakleigh has better sound. Saganaki was amazing and was the best saganaki iv ever had.

Great atmosphere and awesome wait staff. I expected more from the food - i found the Moussaka too smooth in texture. Friends enjoyed their meals though.

We were a group of 4 and ordered 2 souvlakis, 1 small meat platter, a mixed dip, a salad, and a soup. The portion was huge that we left so full and even made the meat platter to go. All dishes were really delicious and reasonably priced.

Used to go to this place all the time and get their mixed souvlaki. Now you get old tomatos and lettuce, soggy paper wrapping with terrible soaking wet bread that wraps it. This place has turned from 5 stars to almost 2 tops.
