Stalactites Restaurant

Excellent. Had the Greek Salad, Appetizer for one, and the Lamb Souvlaki and was plenty/ just right for two! Fun ceilings that look like stalactites.

Okay greek food but basically a high takeaway quality rather than restaurant. The sausages were a bit greasy and just taste like store bought.

The moussaka was dry and salty with otherwise bland tasting mince. I would have expected a bit more flavour.

I ordered the platter for one, it took a long time to come while my friend was already half way her souvlaky. The wait was worth it though because the platter was really good and generous.

The galaktoboureko was a bit frozen but good portion.

Amazing food. The upstairs is slightly better seating. We had about a 20 minutes wait to get the seating and another 20 minutes for the food to arrive. However, it was worth the wait. The daily selection of lamb was beautiful. So tender and flavourful. The desserts are lovely too. His Royal Highness Sir Widdle Waddle thoroughly enjoyed the kalamari platter (in photo).

After being disappointed by greek food in the past I was hesitant to try however, Stalactites has renewed my faith in Greek food
Everything was so fresh, perfectly seasoned, the lamb melted in your mouth and the Pita is unlike any I've ever had!

Stalactites is an iconic Greek restaurant with classic Greek dishes and a unique dining room experience with stalactites hanging from the ceiling (hence the name). The coffee was okay and food were generally pricey for its portion but delicious. Their meat platters are a must-try!

Finally I got an opportunity to dine in.
Overall is very good (experience, food, and services)

I had no idea what to order, only wanted to have some meat and the waitress helped and suggested what to order.

I got mix meat platter; comes with salad and chips, entree which also recommended by the waitress, and pita with dip. All dishes are delicious and very satisfying. I feel like I want to try some more dishes here next time.

This place is amazing! Their menu is very diverse and has way more than just souvlaki! I very much enjoyed the home cook style dishes that they had. Cabbage rolls.who would have thought they could be so yummy! The service was also very quick and friendly. Finding a parking spot could be a challenge but it's worth it!

What once was great, has taken a fall.

Went for dinner the other night and the quality of the food was terrible. The meat had tendons running through it making it quite unpleasant to eat. Service was average.

Overall the food has taken a massive hit and I won't be heading back

This used to be my usual place for Greek food when living in CBD for 3 years and also when I moved to the west I drive down for takeaways.
Unfortunately, the food isn't as tasty as it used to be. I feel a lack of care and quality in the making in the past one year when they were mostly open for takeaways and not dine-in.

Got a takeaway yesterday 17 Sep 2021 and both chicken and lamb from the spit were bad. One of the mix dips also tasted funny. The lamb was cut into large chunks with little to no flavour. Very disappointed especially when you pay a premium and expect the food to be good. It's been always a hit or miss over a year now.

The chef was so rude to the riders while I was waiting the food at the restaurant for taking away. All that I hear “one delivery driver just has asked them Was the food ready? Then the chef said yes it was ready. 10 mins later the rider didn’t get the food then he decided to cancel but one staff called him to get the food ready ready” he went again to pick up …… the chef was yelling to him “I said it ready just pack it (Is that call ready? And he also said Im not a robot whatttt? I’ve chocked about chef’s answered. At least should tell him give me 5 mins for the food. Cause the rider also working.

Unfortunately we had absolutely terrible experience with this restaurant without even trying the food.
I called on Friday to make a booking for Saturday, The person on the phone said no need for booking if less than 6 people coming. I ve asked twice (!) if it's ok and we guarantee that it will be the table for us, she reassured we ll be fine just maybe short time waiting outside.
We drove all the way from Glen Waverley to meet our son and his partner to celebrate my birthday. And when we arrived we were told there's nothing available and if we still want to stay we have to wait more than one hour, which definitely doesn't sound like short time waiting outside.
We couldn't go anywhere else, every restaurant was full, by the way, your restaurant was more than half empty inside.
Poor management. In the future I would never consider to go to this restaurant ever again.

Lovely looking place and extraordinarily popular with many different nationalities particularly young families except surprisingly, Greeks (Sat night & none to be seen, not even on the floor or in the kitchen) Somewhat concerning that social distancing was virtually non existent despite what’s advertised online and tables were sticky even after being ‘wiped down’. Service & staff were great. Food - sadly, eaten better. Price simply didn’t reflect quality and serving size of food.

Staff and manager was really accommodating - we made a booking for a friday night and overlooked the requisite set menu, but the manager came and offered us an a la carte menu
food was amazing as always and really decently priced for the amount received

Stalactites continues to be a staple for Greek food in Melbourne.

Dining on a quiet Monday lunch, the Beef Kokkinisto and Mixed Souvlaki were exactly what they should be. Tasty, filling, and with plenty of that classic Greek flavour. The Kokkinisto even came with complimentary bread and butter to enjoy every last bit of the flavourful tomato sauce.

The manager/owner was on floor and a delight, as well. He as attentive to our experience and made sure we were happy.

The food isn't crazy expensive, either. Pretty reasonable for around $35 for two meals.

Easily a strong recommendation to anyone in the CBD.

Best Souvlaki in Melb. Delicious Creek foods in town. But service was bad, I think the waiter was from India and I was there waiting at the sign to be serve and he was just standing only 2 metres away doing absolutely nothing, and I've to call him 3 times. While my takeaway was ready on the counter for a few minutes. I saw my takeaway was ready at the counter but no one call out and I have to ask him about my order twice and tell me to wait. I don't see the place that busy at around 4pm. This waiter need to put a smile on his face and provide your good customer service while on the job.

Food is delicious and pretty authentic here. We came for an early dinner and so we missed out on having to wait in line.

Took away 1 star as we found it quite difficult to grab servers attention, a few customers even had to walk up to the counter/a staff member to be able to order. Food came very quickly! Bathroom is clean?

If you fancy Greek, this is the place to go! Food is really good and the portions are generous. Great dining experience.
