Spotlight South Melbourne reviews
74I want to thank the staff who assisted me but I also want to mention how shocked I am to witness a staff being secretly bullied by another staff member who did it right in my presence. It was appalling and no one should have to put up with this behavior. Bullying is a serious matter and I hope that this doesn’t continue. Shame on you
Although the layout is kind of confusing, I was able to buy some stuff to start knitting, at a good price! There's almost always a sale it seems, and there's always some cheap wool around. I go here for most of my supplies!
All good also the woman who ran my items through was super friendly and charming despite it being the end of the day
spotlight employees are always so nice
Staff are just not good. What happened to the staff that knew the products and application of the items and gave sound advice?
It's a big store with lots of stuff but what I wanted wasn't on the shelf and no spot for it.
It is part of my local haberdashery needs as well as moderately priced kitchen bedroom goods. Easy parking. Great lifts up and down, and helpful staff. The only problem is the crowded aisles often cluttered and not easy to navigate
Sale is on.got wool balls at lowest rate.and cushions at half the price. 50% discount on most the items
The store is extremely messy and hard to navigate. Difficult to locate staff members when you need help.
Nice spotlight and has a good selection. Staff seems ok. Went on a Monday morning so wasn't too busy. Can appear a bit congested with narrow aisles but this is minor issue and won't top me from visiting again. They do have a clearance section which is good if you wanna check out bargains.
Big store friendly staff. If you are DIY clothes or looking for materials this is the place for you!
Spotlight is nothing all that special! It's just your average discount store that sells things at low prices?
2021
I've been to many Spotlight stores but the one in South Melbourne is my favourite. They are so organised! Fabrics are sorted by type and then colour. Items all neatly arranged. It made my shopping experience a breeze. The store assistants were friendly and you could see them constantly rearranging and stocking items neatly on the racks. I definitely recommend coming here.
Update: December 2022
Shout-out to Christina for all her help! Despite working through the busiest season of the year with Christmas and Boxing Day, she managed to find time to assist me with my sewing machine repairs and replacements. The staff here really are the friendliest and most helpful.
Friendly staff.
No trolleys available, only hand carried baskets.
However as someone who works in the disability field. The store is far too cluttered in the middle aisles to manoeuvre around properly. Parents with prams would find areas of the store difficult to move around without bumping into things
Massive and easy (but dark) parking area. Sure, they've got everything you might need but whenever I go there I'm reminded of much cheaper prices without needing a map to find your way around, at your local two dollar (or equivalent) store.
Like a bunnings for sewing/crafty/homebody kinda of people. Spent hours in there looking at all the interesting things. Got the best pillows at a steal price. Staff are fantastic
Ok if you don't mind walking halfway across the other side of the store to scan for prices of nearly every single thing of interest one might wish to possibly purchase because even the stuff that's clearly on special doesn't even have a price tag clearly labelled neither on it nor be on a shelf that has anything remotely resembling a price tag
I have been trying to call them for 2 days.
Called over 40x - no one picks up.
Even called "head Office" to find out what was happening and they jus transferred me through to a phone that never picked up
It's a nice store with lots of stock and there are always pretty good sales however the customer service is horrible. Was served by lady named Zoe according to my receipt. I purchased a few large items and I wasn't given any help with bagging them also I was rushed when I was trying to sort them and pack them.it was so obvious that the customer who was paying after me at the same register noticed it and came to me and offered to give me a hand.of course I understand that the store doesn't pay the employees enough so they feel like they need to do anything extra for the customer but it's just the matter of decency and being human sometimes to offer something a little bit extra. I hope this store takes better care of its employees so maybe they feel it in their hearts to be a kinder and have more humanity towards the customers.
It's huge and had a great variety of stock. We were looking for craft supplies and were happy to find the product we were after.
The ladies at the Party Counter were absolutely lovely and wonderfully helpful. Shoutout to Taleshia for putting together a beautiful bouquet of balloons for a hens that I was organizing for.
