Speakeasy Kitchen Bar

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful tapas lunch today at Speakeasy Kitchen Bar. We had the dolmadies which were just the right temperature and moist and tasty, the meatballs were in a lovely herbal tomato sauce and an excellent tabbouleh salad. Their coffee was very, very good. We'll definitely go back.

Speakeasy accommodated a birthday for 40 pax in the courtyard on a Saturday night. We had an absolute riot right up until close. The online ordering is functional but quite poor UI, still managed to order plenty of food and drinks though. Thanks for being awesome team!

Lovely atmosphere! Bottomless brunch was great value and the food was amazing.

Always love the food. Highly recommend the dishes they offer. Vinny the chef is definitely very good at his job and the best in business. Must try Resturant and bar. They also got singers performing at night.

Absolute pleasure spending time at Speakeasy - the staff were so lovely and accommodating - Damien's expertise and knowledge is second to none! The service was top notch! And the function space is so amazing!

Incredible venue that by the street looks small but come inside you’ll see the true value of the place. Tara is the one thing that makes the venue that extra bit special. She will always go to the end of the world to make the event more special. Even for a casual drink Tara will know the value of your night out and make the night even better. I’ve visited the venue a number of times and Tara makes the biggest or smallest event so much more special. Ask for Tara she is the bomb.

Okay, low staff at happy hour, waited about 25 mins for a martini, cheap drinks, but they taste it. Chips are tasty though!

Great spot to hide away from the hustle and bustle of Chapel St if you want some sunshine and some peace and quiet for a coffee in the morning. Their outdoor back patio area is a nice surprise to stumble across. I love ducking into Speakeasy when I'm on my way to the markets.

My friends and I hosted a bday party at Speakeasy last night. Brendan, Tara and the other staff looking after us were fantastic. We had 40-50 people in a reserved area in the courtyard and it was perfect. Thank you Lek and Petros and your team for helping us celebrate with our nearest and dearest.

A conflicting but overall incredibly unpleasant experience at Speakeasy. We signed up for Zomato Gold recently which has helped us try plenty of now newly favourite restaurant and bars. It has also highlighted to us some very hostile businesses that have treated customers unfavourably for utilising their promotion.

We came during a quiet hour late on a Sunday afternoon and were welcomed by a older gentleman, who remained bright after we told him at the door we wanted to use the 2+2 drinks promotion for an after lunch drink.

We were seated and instructed to order at the bar when ready. At the bar we tried to order 4 cocktails - prices ranging between $16-20. The female staff member, with the slightly curly unruly hair, spat “you’re cheap” at us. We asked “excuse me? ” To which she replied “you heard me”. My boyfriend told her there was nothing wrong with using the online offer and her reply was “yeah there is”.

From that point onwards our cheery double date turned into awkward silence. Despite being complete unprovoked by us, she proceeded to aggressively make and serve the drinks. Her words and behaviour continued to be so rude we concluded that she was either heavily drunk on the job, or just plainly the most disgusting embodiment of custom service.

To add insult to injury, my friend - who is notorious for getting the Asian flush after one drink - drank both hers and her boyfriend’s cocktails and her cheeks weren’t even the slightest bit pink. His reason for not drinking his: the taste was subpar.

A terrible way to end our double date. The silver lining is that Zomato Gold has helped us weed out the businesses worth our continued support. We won’t be back to this establishment. Neither will friends and family.

I come here on Saturdays for breakfast and always get excellent food and service. The team is very friendly and usually remembers my order which is nice.

Really friendly service. I had the steak, which was a bit over cooked and i asked for medium rare, but the jus and all accompaniments made up for it. Was quite delicious and the vibe inside is really nice. Great in spring time as there is a lot of natural light. There is also a very large outdoor courtyard. I can see them being very busy during Christmas Party season

Really nice eating area out the back and the food is amazing. I had the vegan option of the 'green Burger' and it was pretty darn tasty. Falafel was moist in the middle and crispy on the outside, not dry at all. Chips were delicious

Make sure to drink plenty of water and fresh lemon juice to survive, after eating a greasy and salty burger here!

Recently went here for a friend's event. Was pleasantly surprised by everything. The place is cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were all really great. The food was beautifully presented and definitely hit the palate on all the right notes. If that didn't already deserve a 5 star review... On the way out decided to grab a latte. Perfect! Would give 6 out of 5 stars if I could.

Really nice food and a good menu. Unfortunately, got an average turmeric latte which which was cold.
