Go elsewhere, there’s much better that Chapel has to offer than this place. Disappointed to have to do this but honestly inappropriate behaviour from the manager, the guy that took our orders who works in the kitchen and explained the menu upon arrival. Maybe go back to the kitchen and check your ego before you deliberately insult your patrons and make them feel uncomfortable.
Thank you to the waiter who was attentive and courteous.
Unfortunately this experience has put a damper on the one I had a year ago at Speakeasy.

A lovely enclosed outdoor area with pretty lighting

I came here on a Thursday night the week they reopened. I had dinner in the courtyard - it was a very cold night but the heating is excellent and it was so cozy! Nice atmosphere with the lighting and it was relaxing.

The food as pictured was mostly really nice. The grilled halloumi was my favourite and is a great starter/to share plate. The hummus was okay - personally I like lemon in my hummus. I did not like the pita bread though, it was chewy and not really fresh. The calamari (pictured at the back) was nice.

Please note if you come here on a saturday evening, the courtyard has a DJ and it isn’t chill, it’s very loud. So if you want a chill dinner come during the week

Expensive for what you get. Staff were friendly enough and nice outdoor area, $20 for 2 slices of halloumi, the mediterranean vegetables were bland and watery. Paprika chicken was good but not worth $29! Ordered chips and were given wedges, tasted nice but not what we asked for. Would have been nice to been told about changes to menu before we sat down and were ready to order.

I would highly recommend speakeasy, I had my leaving party in the function room upstairs during restrictions an despite all the rules in place they really went that extra mile to accomodate my guests an make my evening special. The food they provided was also out of this world an was a massive hit. Amazing decor, super friendly staff an a fantastic bar manager an owner!

Do not go to this bar if you care about public health safety. No kitchen staff or waiters were wearing masks. Although current restrictions allow seated service only, there were about 100 young people standing and mingling (without masks) in the one room. Myself and two other friends had reserved a table with a credit card for 10pm Saturday night, but were told that we did not have a booking. We were haphazardly placed within the room of 100 people and decided that we did not want to put our safety at risk. When we were walking out, there were three policemen talking with the manager (still maskless). Hopefully this place is fined heavily.

Highly recommended amazing Events space for all occasions! We had our daughter first birthday and party was fantastic!

We held our engagement as a cocktail event in the upstairs event space at Speakeasy. It was wonderful! The service was amazing and the team were incredibly accommodating and were so easy to work with. We couldn't recommend Speakeasy Kitchen Bar more highly.

Attended a poorly organised boozey brunch speed dating type event. Other than that, venue is nice and the drinks are tasty.

Fabulous venue in the heart of Chapel Street! We love coming here for knock off drinks sitting outside in the sun filled court yard with friends. Food is always good and staff are fantastic, friendly, come passed to fill up your water and very helpful. The upstairs area is great for functions as well.

I had a function here recently, and Bruno, along with the entire staff were absolutely superb. They made the whole experience so easy and fun!

Really nice place for drinks and shared food. Very good cocktails and 4 beers on tap. The food is quite something. Highly recommended, was there for a birthday party and it was great.

Unbelievable place food drink atmosphere. Best customer service I have ever experienced. Great entertainment and management have the best staff. Such a great place. Will definetly be back shout out.to the owner best place I've been too 10/10

Absolutely loved the vibe.the food having a falafel salad.very traditional bought me back to my kitchen table.the service was welcoming will definately come again.

I ordered and 45 minutes later, never got my coffee or food. When approaching the waiter to ask where my meal was, he said it was getting made. Another 10 min went by and I asked again and he said they hadn’t started making it. I asked them not to make the food. I went without a meal and coffee and wasted 1 hour of my life, while my friends had eaten their food and drank their coffee.

Absolutely SPOT ON seafood platter! Expresso mocha martini, get one here and you'll be hooked.
Great atmosphere kitchen and bar, amazing DJ cutting loose some really nice vocal trance numbers on a Saturday night & not nightclub excessive loud.
Massive courtyard hidden up the back from entry on Chapel street, heated & modern.
Staff were all smiling which is something you rarely see these days, even the kitchen staff were all smiles.
Chill at the rustic styled front bar with a cold one and speakeasy with friends for the music is much quieter there:)
Get in for pre-work (out) breakfast too, they make great coffee!

If there's a stop you should make in Chapperz, make it Speakeasy.

Great fun bar with fun and attentive staff. Great to get together with a socially appropriate and legal number of your friends:).

Great venue for after work drinks and a light nosh. The courtyard is particularly nice. Extensive cocktail menu. Friendly service. Speakeasy has been around for years and is an underated place to go to on Chaps. It's nice to see that's still are after all these years.
