Love the excellent range of plant based food options, I actually got a bit emotional bc of how catered for I felt as a vegan?

Delicious and extensive selection of savoury and sweet goods. The staff can be hit or miss, either very lovely or kind of cold/dismissive, but the food quality easily makes up for it. They have deli items, take-home frozen meals such as lasagne, fried chicken and pies, groceries, sandwiches/pastries and cakes. Located in a quiet street that is easy to walk or cycle to.

Beautiful vegan cafe/deli with both takeaway and dine in options. We ordered roast beef and salami sandwiches from deli section for takeaway. They were made fresh to order, with good quality ingredients but we literally couldn’t taste the meat alternatives used, both looked exactly the same, tiny slices and completely overpowered by sauces and grilled capsicum.
The roast beef was covered by hot mustard sauce, too much that made it almost inedible, burning my nose and brain to the point I gave up completely after two bites! And I am a fan of spicy foods!
The salami one was delicious and coffee was nice too, but overall everything on an expensive side.

Have been a fan of Shannon’s vegan fare since way way back at Sweetwater Inn. The new Deli is absolutely epic and she still provides the same beautiful, chatty, personal service and guidance as she did before her public successes.
We fed the meat eating fam a traditional (vegan) Christmas dinner with her fare and all loved it. From the decor, to the team, to the food- this place is heaven for Melbourne’s vegans and veg-curious.

The new shop is absolutely stunning. The range of groceries they have is really extensive and exciting and eating in the cafeteria section was very cute vibes. The lunch menu was devine with really generous portions and the staff were all really helpful as we were a little confused as the how it operated at first.
I can't wait to go back again and again to try different dishes and desserts!

Amazing experience with my takeaway. Walking in I was immediately impressed with the display and layout of all the food. All the labels are super easy to read and everything looks so delicious! The staff were so friendly and I can’t wait to come back to dine in. 10/10 food and experience, you just go!

One of my all time favourites - beautiful venue, friendly staff & incredible food (plus - more sweet & savoury options than you could ever dream of!). So grateful for the space Smith & Deli gives to both vegans & non-vegans. Could not rate more highly!

Stopped by the new S&D for lunch today, 3ish weeks after their new venue opened. This new space is CLASSY. The take away section is swanky. I love the dine in canteen style space. There's no compromise with the quality of food. For $20 we got a main and 2 sides that we could eat all over again. 5 stars for how delicious the food is. 5 stars for the modern, sophisticated yet casual space. And 5 stars for the rock star staff especially during these trying times. Nice work. We will definitely be back again.

First time visiting the new venue. The space is absolutely beautiful and creates a fantastic vibe for dining in. The option to sit down for a meal has elevated the experience. As always, staff and service were excellent and the food was full of flavour and very satisfying. Still one of the best spots around for plant based food.

It's incredible what this place can do with food. Honesty, the quality is amazing and their breakfast is delicious (and somehow nostalgic, how does that work?)

Such a unique concept! All the food was absolutely delicious & staff were attentive in ensuring we understood the new system and answering any questions. Can't wait to come back!

Absolutely amazing! I tried the new smith and deli in the new year and was so happy with the service and the food. Also I got served by the owner and she was wonderful. Do yourself a favour, vegan or not and check them out

Had a great takeaway and dine-in experience at the new location. I thought the cafeteria plate was excellent value, all the food was delicious, and the staff were lovely and did their best to explain the new layout and the way it all worked. Also, they are still pumping out the greatest jam doughnuts of all time!

This is my favourite place to eat. The new location is fantastic and a refreshing iteration of the cult classic haunt in Fitzroy. I absolutely love following the changes they make to their menu, from classic breakfast to bistro dinners, coupled with pastries and delicatessen favourites. Shannon Martinez and her team will never cease to surprise and delight me with their kind and happy service and dedication to feeding Melbourne the best plant-based foods have to offer.

Even before my visit has ended, I am looking forward to my next visit. Keep up the fantastic work during these crazy times and know that you will always have my support.

Was really excited to try the pastries while visiting melb and these did not disappoint, hands down the best vegan croissants I’ve ever had!

We enjoyed the Canteen style lunch at the fabulous new incarnation of Smith and Deli yesterday.what a treat! The new venue is light, bright and roomy.very classy! The mains and accompanying sides were soooooo yummy.full of flavour and generous portions. A shared dessert and a glass of tap wine finsihed off a very delicious and satisfying meal The magician herself - Shannon Martinez - served us and her enthusiastic, friendly, down to earth personality added to the positive experience! The updated groceries and Deli offerings compliment the fresh new look and feel! Congratulations Shannon and team.looking forward to the opening of Smith and Daughters next!

Longtime fan of S&D. Love the food and staff obviously, but now also love the new deli and the canteen setup. Also felt privileged to have been greeted and served by the owner on the day I checked out the new space. Thank you Shannon and team, this place is truly special.

I’m so in love with the new location! Gone are the days of queuing round the block and waiting on the side of the road for your order (which was always worth it regardless), now you have the option of popping in to grab the old fa pyrite like the amazing sandwiches and pies, OR grabbing some of the new canteen lunch options and dining in. The canteen options are to die for, very much on the level of the Smith & Daughters dinner menu but with a mix-and-match vibe. Obsessed!

My first time to their new location. It was a mix of the old smith and deli (with all my favourites back in their takeaway display fridge, safe to say I stocked up on the chick’n salad!) combined with a new grocery and deli section. It took all my self control not to buy every bit of merchandise they had available also, all so beautifully designed. I had a quick peak in the canteen section and can’t wait to go back for a dine in meal when I can can’t wait to go back!

I've been coming to Smith and Deli for years. Came in to buy a few things, and was asked to see my vax passport. You're takeaway so why are you asking for my jab status? I've been shopping at the deli for the last 2 years during covid, but all of a sudden nope? Jab or no jab, anyone can purchase take away. Absolutely disgusting discriminatory behaviour from your business. I was shocked to say the least. But I'm glad I know where to not spend my money anymore. Instead I will support all the other wonderful cafes in the area that are warm and welcoming. I'm double jabbed but I do not support a two tier society like you clearly do. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
