Great Italian restaurant right in the CBD. Their menu is good and quite varied, we got some complimentary entrees (a pizza bread which I forgot the name plus regular bread), staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Highly recommended!

It was a quiet weekday evening no it was empty but the location and food was convenient. Arachini, salmon, deserts, and wine everything was great. Plus the staff was attentive and helpful too.

I had my birthday dinner here recently and I highly recommend the restaurant. The food reminded me of when we went to Italy, friendly staff and the ambience is relaxed (just what I wanted). Highly recommend this place:) thank you Scugnizzo!

I'm not a person who reviews restaurants, but the dinner that I had here was inexplicably good. The chef/owner is the most passionate and involved man I have ever experienced, a truly special man. The waitstaff were also infallible and very very accommodating. It is an intimate setting with food that is incredible, couldn't recommend more highly.

Charming local vibe Italian restaurant in laneway melbourne. Authentic, no fuss food and a simple wine list. Service really relaxed too. Nice change from the usual broadsheet type experiences.

With a warm greeting upon entry, you feel at ease in the pleasant surrounds. The passionate waiter makes you feel like you must experience each dish at least once. From the warm bread on arrival, the full bodied flavours of the dishes we ordered in both the Entre's and Mains the dishes and service can't be faulted.
Pure perfection for food, service and ambience.
An Italian restaurant that is a must on everyone's list.

Nice looking restaurant. Went in a large party, I recommended people try the Monkfish as I've had it many times before and unfortunately it was the driest, toughest and most terribly overcooked effort I've ever had the misfortune to try. I suspect not a fresh batch either.
The steak served to the person next to me however, looked sensational.we all had massive envy on that!
Being 6'4" and 90kg it's not like me to leave anything on my plate but i just couldn't bring myself to eat it. Such was the confidence of the restaurant they didn't enquire either. Shame.

Had a lovely and speedy meal. Very friendly and attractive setting. I just ordered a special of small ravioli with oxtail filling and topped with rapa and a side of spinach. But it was perfectly done and very good value. Deserts looked traditional and tempting but had no more time available.

Beautiful restaurant (so tastefully decorated!) with fabulous friendly service. Great menu but we all ended up ordering dishes from the specials board. So good! Will definitely be back.

We have been patrons of Scugnizzo now for about 8 years and it have become our place of choice for every staff, business, birthday or casual lunch occasion. Some weeks we will go there two and three times for lunch and we have had many dinners there as well. In all these years that my colleagues and I have dined there, we often recount that we have never had a bad meal. Head Chef Carmine Carannante and his lovely wife Nonie along with Ano, Melbourne's best Italian waiter, well it's my favourite place to eat in all of Melbourne.

Food was tasty and they were wonderfully accommodating for dietary requirements. However the food was not phenomenal enough to make up for the very small portions (at least for pasta dishes). Overall not a bad experience but a little disappointing.

Disappointing start to our Melbourne trip, hoping to indulge in some nice Italian food on our first night but was meet with awkward staff that didn't no there own menu, and food lacking any sort of flavor.
Had one pasta dish and one pizza but were very disappointing.
First time i have ever had to add salt to a pizza in search of flavor.
Would not recommend

A nice Italian restaurant with the most friendly staff. We came here for Valentine's day which was a 3 course menu. We started off with a glass of prosecco.

The entree we opted for the lobster and spring onion croquettes. Crisp batter and a strong aroma and fragrance of lobster. The other entree was the burrata cheese was fantastic. Soft stringy and milky.

Mains were average. Housemade fettucine was well made with a generous amount of tender duck ragu. The risotto was average as it was still powdery in the centre. The assorted mushroom were quite tasty.

Dessert was the highlight. The torta margherita was quite impressive with a soft lemon sponge and thinly sliced strawberries. The marscapone was quite impressive.

The chocolate mousse was dense and very rich.

I went there 3 times and I was really happy with both food and service. Unfortunately last time I went I ordered a pizza, for the first time and I was really disappointed: too much dough, not enough mozzarella, very very bland. Also, I was charged for a beer that I didn't order. Pasta was always good, but I probably won't return.

Bit of a mixed bag, some dishes very good, some quite bland and strange. Very long wait for food and small portions.
