Great service and fantastic food. The authentic Italian flavor, also the vibe is good, feel comfortable when having a dinner here.

We had booked this restaurant about a week ago for our visit from Sydney so we were really looking forward to some great authentic Italian food. Walked in sat down got offered some water then had to wait 10 minutes for the menu. 40 minutes until we got our drinks. Then 1.5 hours from when we walked in until we got our mains which were awful the seafood pasta had one prawn and a couple of shreds of calamari and possibly fish no mussels as I had been told by the waitress. The ragout had about a teaspoon of shredded beef on it in some sort of wartery sauce. When we spoke to the chef we were told that's how we do it here. No apologies from management or the chef still got charged for other 2 meals and drinks at top price. Not sure where these other reviews on this site came from we were extremely disappointed with the sevice and food. Management were rude from start to finish very slow at getting drinks out kept asking if we wanted more bread as mains took so long to come out and the restaurant wasn't even busy. Worst Italian ever anywhere.

Been here for a dinner with my parthern, what a nice real Italian restaurant in Melbourne cbd, very welcoming staff and the food was outstanding! Especially the pasta and stake.we’ll surly be back anytime soon! Keep it up guys

This place was perfect. Food 5 stars, waitress made our night, funny, easy to talk to and attentive! Highly recommend Scugnizzo! PS the Nutella pizza for desert, worth saving space for. We’d go back in a flash.

I usually don’t write reviews but I’m an exchange student from Italy and I’ve been looking for an authentic italian restaurant since I came here: I finally found it! The sorrentina gnocchi were like my grandmother used to do it, very good food quality and the atmosphere was great! I’ll come back for sure.

Fantastic and authentic Italian cuisine! We have been dining here for years and we always appreciate that the menu changes with the seasons - consistently serving fresh, seasonal and delicious food. The chef makes all the pasta in-house - and even runs pasta making workshops from time to time (which I look forward to attending one day). Nice old world atmosphere, and friendly staff. A hidden gem!

One of the best italian restaurant in town. The chef was very nice with us. Really good fresh and homemade pasta. Gnocchi were fantastic!

Fantastic food. Some of the best I have had in Melbourne. The atmosphere was perfect. We were not all seated on top of each other.

Couldn't have asked for more friendly and caring staff for both patrons and the love of the dishes served. The gnocchi were delicious pillows of happiness!

Loved the food. I normally don’t eat beef. But I was in love with the way it was cooked. And the pasta it was definitely coming back ️ And got complimentary bread and something that I forgot the name but it was made with crab meat, it was delicious

I would like to thank and praise the staff, food and atmosphere at scugnizzo as it made our mother Francesca's 90th birthday the most beautiful and memorable night we could have wished for. Arno and his crew were so accommodating and thoughtful and treated her as if it was their own mother.many thanks guys and highly recommend them for your loved ones special occasions.keep the great work up guys

Not sure how this venue gets 5 stars.
Single diner, not many people in restaurant and appears under staffed and panicked service delivery.

Venue has so much potential to sell more but due to lack of table service I decided to leave early.
Olive oil spilt all over the table lack of training and experience made the dining experience a big let down.

Seems to me people here do not enjoy working here under the owner.

I had the rest of my dinner else where, the service was far quicker and more attentive and served by a robotic waiter

We went for dinner. The past was great and the desert was also tasty. Great atmosphere too. The only small issue was with bruschetta bread, it was burnes. Not sure it was supposed to be black on the sides.

Fantastic food, fun & friendly staff. Stumbled on this place while staying at Wyndham Hotel and it was an absolute pearler! Ate outside in the little alleyway. Risotto Balls and Bruschetta were delicious. I had the home made zito con genovese (beef ragout pasta) for mains and it was sensational. Will definitely be back next time in Melbourne.

Good service. Food was good though the fettuccine con aragosta was a bit disappointing. Aranchini was good as was the chicken special.

Visited 17 December 2021. Wanted a takeaway because of Covid in Melbourne (from Sydney and of course we're all pear shape) Ordered the Lobster linguine and a small tomato based garlic pizza. I left paying a tip and as I walked outside, the linguine slid off the box and sprayed on the footpath as the lid came off. Devastated, but the waitress who'd attended me me said, Don't worry, we'll make you another one. She didn't want to accept an additional tip, so this restaurant is high in my revisit to Melbourne eith friends. P. S.the lobster linguine was outanding!

Food wa delicious and the service was excellent. Staff was welcoming and very helpful. 100% will come back.
