Scienceworks reviews
80A wonderful and interactive place to kill a few hours with kids! They had so much fun and were asleep as soon as they got in the car.
Experienced Scienceworks with our toddler, and overall a great experience with plenty to see and do. Great value too (especially for Museum members).
Kids that are in school will get a lot more out of Scienceworks, yet there was a great Under 5s area (no additional ticket needed) with plenty of interactive activities.
Some of the standard exhibitions could do with some updating as they've been around for 15+ years.
Great things for kids to learn. Good control of spacing and crowd. Planetarium shows are superb. The type of place kids could go to every couple of years.
Went with my daughter and two grandkids (4 and7). Sadly some things were unavailable because of covid but still enough there to be worthwhile. Saw Tycho goes to the Moon at the planetarium- the presenter and movie were great. No surprise that gift shop items were very overpriced but food from the cafe was healthy, great quality and very reasonably priced. We had a lovely time!
Even with the new space/future content they put in, the place is really dated. The whole area in front of the planetarium is the same food/sport section that had been there from the start. Thankfully admission is only $15 per adult. Place needs an overhaul.
My review is regarding the online ticketing system. I had a very bad experience with it. I have been trying secure ticket online and it continued to put me in queue. It put me in queue thrice. Everytime when my turn came it showed a start time with a pop up asking whether I want to continue or not. After clicking yes it showed me that I am being redirected to the website. After few minutes it showed an apology message saying something went wrong and put me in queue again. I spent almost 20 minutes doing this. Ultimately had to abandon the idea of visiting. My request to management is that the online ticketing system needs to be reviewed properly.
Great experience for the whole family. It is our second time there. Interesting expositions, very educational. Kids are excited to learn more.
Planetarium presentation was excellent. Not too long not too short - 9 years old kid can easily manage to sit through and being engaged.
Well done. Thank you.
Has not changed in the last 15 years since I last went. The planetarium tends to show there bad shows over the good shows not giving options or letting you know before purchase.
If you want to spark a love of science in your kids (or satisfy the science obsessed kid) then Scienceworks is definitely the place for you. Heck even us big kids have lots of fun and food for thought at this multimedia venue where interaction is everywhere. Activities and information to get you to have fun but also get you thinking!
Perfect place for kids to experience the science! The woman at the reception and the staff in general were pretty friendly and helpful! And I just loved the moon! So real!
It’s amazing place to be with family or kids to visit.
Multiple activity for kids and very sensory place.
Must visit
This place is great. The interactive experience is fantastic for anyone aged over 5. The Cafe has stale sandwiches and awful looking fried food. Bring your own.
Lots of fun- better for kids over 5. Had a fun time in the planetarium and the electricity show- well worth getting tickets to the extras to make sure you get in. Recently had some renovations as well which has sharpened up the interiors. Cafe facility available with standard sandwiches, chips etc.
So much to see and do. Definitely worth a visit. Try and go on a week day if you don't have kids so you can enjoy it more or if you do have kids get in early if possible cause there is heaps for them to do but you end up waiting to much otherwise.
Had a great time at Scienceworks on the weekend! We went to see the scale model of the moon, which was awesome!
Great for all ages, very interactive and fun for the young ones.
The play area for the younger kids is great, heaps for them to do and play with and gated to avoid toddler escapees!
Local educational thing. Spent a few minutes walking around the pump house then left.
Cafe served fried food. Gift shop had some interesting stuff. Found $2 in the grass bit in the middle.
Probably more aimed at the school market or enthusiast.
If you get the train, the walk here feels a little bit like youve gone the wrong way, a sign or two might be reassuring.
The pump works part of the museum feels a bit of a missed opportunity with a large space and not much going on. The views to the bridge are cool.
The exhibits were fantastic in the main part of the museum though, lots of interactive stuff and interesting. We could have spent longer here!
The planetarium was our favourite though, a really great show taking in the skies above.
Been here many times as a kid and still as fun as an adult! Smaller than most science museums but love the interactive style of exhibitions. Planetarium is a favourite of mine!
Want to learn about some astronomy? Come and take a look at this observatory. Check out their website for events and their programmes to see what would interest you!
Exciting and interactive experience for all ages! Busy and quite loud during the weekends so if you have mini-you's then go during the week.
