Sarawak Kitchen reviews
80Pretty good but as a pure Kuchingite, it still lacks that very X factor to match the authentic version. The amount of char siu meat and garnish could definitely be increased to reflect the price.
I would recommend this place for those who want to try the Sarawakian food or for those who miss it. The place was very busy at lunch time, so I went back for an evening meal.
It does not open until 11am.
I enjoyed what I had which was Kolo Mee
Very disappointed with the food here. The kolo mee definitely not authentic at all as it tasted sour. And it added char siu oil but it doesn't like like the one in kuching at all. The Sarawak laksa doesn't have enough flavour even added with sambal. And they stop making 糟菜粉干。。。so sad
Worst hawker food ever I tasted in Melbourne. The lou xu fan stuck together, and some not evenly cooked. On the contrary the soup noodle overcooked, and also some part stuck in a bunch.
Scrumptious fried chicken, generous portions and affordable price. Highly recommended for everyone especially students.
I had a tom yum noodle soup, it was extremely salty and seafoods taste awfully old. I poured a cup of water in to balance out the saltiness but gave up after few bites. I felt sick right after the meal. Worst tom yum I ever tried.
Amazing and Fresh Kolo Mee, Great Customer Service. Will definitely be back! Keep up the good work ….
Always great food, always great service. The Foochow noodles (dry) is a banger. Always our go to
Kolo Mee reminds me of Kolo Mee in Kuching, Sarawak and the Sarawak Laksa broth is delicious. Super affordable and a lot of great dishes to please a variety of tastes.
Came in for lunch for two people.
Our mains came 25 minutes apart, noodles were oily and lumpy, very unappetising.
The best venue if you like Malaysian food. We come here once a week at least. Decent size, delicious and reasonably priced dishes. Our favourites are beef Nasi lemak, Bak kut Teh and Hainan chicken rice.
Very nice and affordable food. Got chased out of another restaurant and was welcomed with open arms into this one. Love the Kumpua special and the Kolo mee and the char kway teow. The other dishes were also great but given we only come to the city once a week, we always settle for our favourites, but the other dishes are great too.
Great authentic experience, value for money will return. Good quick service and close to victoria market.
A favourite spot of mine as I got quite good experience with the food I get! While I'm not southeast asian and am definitely no expert, I find that sarawak does provide good flavours of malaysian food (or what I associate with it). I particularly like their beef rendang as its meat is tender, and the curry is robust and packed with flavour. I generally get it with my nasi lemak, but their curry chicken is also a nice one to get, and quite different from the rendang. I also enjoyed their sarawak laksa, but it is more towards the sweeter end, but still very enjoyable. I also tried their bakuteh, which is quite light on the chinese herbs, which i prefer over the overtly prominent ones! Again more to the sweeter side, but I really enjoyed it.
Lastly, their chili sauce is A MUST. Super fragrant and aromatic with the fried garlic and shallots. Not spicy but provides a beautiful blend of spices to enhance the flavours of your noodles. Honestly, I can just get a bowl of white rice and continuously devour that chili sauce.yum!
Been there few times and everytime just consistently good.
Some staffs are super friendly, while others are not.
Thanks to the chef for bringing back the home-cook feeling and thanks for being exist.
Will come back for sure.
A restaurant serving East Malaysian rice and noodle dishes at pocket friendly prices.
The menu highlighted and explained the specialty dishes of the region - Sarawak laksa, Kampua and Kolo Mee. However the extensive menu features other dishes that are worthy of exploring - for example the nasi lemak are very good value and tasty. Another favorite is the bak kut teh - a herbal soup with pork ribs, bean curd puffs, pork intestines and very, very tasty meat balls.
At first the lady servicing us was nice and polite, showing us our table, giving us our menus. Then after we sat for a bit and she came back to our table she immediately dropped the friendly act, straight to the point with a snappy "Ok, what you want". I don't expect servers to bend themselves over backwards to meet my every need, but I do expect to be able to enjoy a meal with my partner without being stared down.
The food she served us wasn't much better than her attitude, the noodle soup I ordered tasted like lukewarm kettle water was poured in, vegetables barely boiled and overly salty. My partners food wasn't much better, equally salty, meat very tough and overall just a generally subpar meal.
To be fair, the meal was cheap but for the same price point there are much better restaurant options around that don't give you uncomfortable customer service.
ONE word: TERRIBLE.
The food tasted commercialized and it was uncooked. The service is poor and I feel empty after eating there when I was supposed to feel full.
Really affordable yet tasty food. This is a 5 star rating for a cheap eats place.
The interior is a clean and simple design, with tables easily connected or separated.
Great for family or friends to dine in together.

I ordered fried noodle and fish ball. Fish ball, very bad, too salt to eat! Fried noodle, parts of the noodles and meat were still cold! I mixed the noodle by myself to make the noodle even! Will NEVER come back again!
