Overpriced, low quality meals, service ok. Example.undercooked calamari with strange soggy mandarine salad.

Reading reviews about this place I was about to walk away and try some other place to have my lunch.but lucky I did give them a try and I did enjoy my meal at this place. Service was good but I think they looked under the pump being peak season in rye. Food was tasty and fresh that's what u want for lunch, wish they added a little salad bowl with our fish and chips just to have Abit of fresh crunch. The only think I will complain is the lack of direction didn't know what to do once I walked in the door if we had to wait for some one to take is to the table or help ur self and the same with food ordering.
Will come again.

First time I’ve ever had a Parma which doesn’t include a salad! What the? Overpriced considering it’s not the standard meal! Chips and salad! (Hello)!

Staff were friendly. Lovely location. Food was very good. However, they were renovating during our stay but neglected to inform us of this when we booked. Is on a busy highway so also very noisy.

Only 1 chair in room and no table No ice in fridge.
Carpet, toilet and basin not cleaned during our 3 day stay.
Room needs black out curtain, shutters totally inadequate.

It was okayish. They don't know how to cook steaks properly and the evident make over inside looks very bland. Might be better at other times.

Went for dinner and was disgusted how horrible our meals were. We had chicken parmas with chips and salad but I had the vegetables instead. The chicken breast was obviously a frozen one which clearly had been deep fried - extremely dry and chewy. I simply couldn't eat it. The Napoli sauce on it - bland and raw tasting. The chips - drenched in old oil - the salad - no dressing and the leaves were old and wilted - the vegetables - bland! Got up at 1am because my stomach was on fire. Speaking of fire, with all the renovations that have taken place, someone should've told you that your open fireplace hearth doesn't comply with building regulations. Tried this place years ago and never went back but now I certainly won't be back ever again!

Food was overpriced and not very good. Pastry on the pot pie I got was incredibly hard though wasn't as bad as some of the other meals at my table. I heard "worst Parma I've ever had", "the prawns were terrible (all 4 of them) " and "this cheesecake base needs to be cut with a knife it's so hard". Disappointing.

So I took my son out for the day to the beach today. And we decided to stop in at the Rye Hotel. For lunch. I was expecting a nice time but instead was in for a shock. I will start with the two soft drinks I ordered. Not even thinking about the price of post mix soda I ordered two soft drinks. Come to my surprise when I went to pay for the drinks it shows $14.50. I asked the bartender if this was correct and she gave me that’s the price and I don’t make the prices attitude. Seeing as it was a day out with my son I bit my lip and proceeded to walk over to the main area to order my order. I was planning on having the chicken Parma (but as I have been burnt at some cheaper places in the past) I thought it prudent to ask is the Parma a real chicken Parma from the chef. The waitress who acted like this was not an acceptable question goes “of course it is real chicken” so I re worded my questions and asked is it a hand crumbed Parma or a frozen one. “As with disgust she replies no it is a frozen Parma”. I said ok i will instead look at the $30 brisket burger. Does that come with chips? No it comes with onion rings. Ok can I replace the onion rings with chips. Her response was No. So now I am thinking I am not going to spend $30 on a burger and onion rings I don’t like plus another $7 for chips. So I said you know what just give me a kids fish and chips and an adults fish and chips. Well the food came to our table and at first glance looked nice. That is until I tried the fish. It was not only watery flavourless fish but it was bathed in oil and the oil was literally all over the plate. I felt sick just trying to eat the fish and put it down and took some picture. See pictures. So I spent $55 for two large chips and two soft drinks. Today. Absolutely disgraceful Rye Hotel. Could not recommend

I quite like this place been several times. But the food is hit and miss. The mussells seem to be inconsistent, either fantastic or not good. The sunday roast is to be avoided, the beef and veg are unappetizing to look at and overcooked. However the ambience is good, service friendly and prices quite reasonable. I guess you get what you pay for.

Asked a lady (middle aged, manager type) to change one of the TV channels as the seats available were blocked by a pillar. There was no one on the other side of the bistro at 11am, yet I received a disgruntled 'why? ' and an annoyed look. Shaking her head, she moved over to investigate, claiming people would be watching the tv (currently showing a replay of last night's game that no one was watching). I told her we'd be happy to change it back if people asked.
No response. Back straight, pointedly looking away from us, clicking the channel back and forth, she found the one we asked for, looked us up and down, then left. Couldn't believe it. Couple of patrons actually laughed at her hostility and asked if we were all right.
-1 star because we were accomodating for HER
-1 for questioning us without even knowing her own bistro was not one bit interested in what was currently on
-1 for hostility
-1 because all it takes is one bad interaction to ruin an experience
1 star cos the other staff were great and I have to give a star

Pretty decent, the hotel was clean tidy and very spacious. Ample parking and amenities, the attached sports bar and bistro were perfect for their respective uses and quiet busy.

Great location and friendly staff were a great addition to the decent room. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool as it was pretty cold, but it looked well maintained.

A little dated and in need of a bit of TLC kept this from a 5 star, but otherwise we’d stay again for sure.

We go to rye every 2 weeks and have done for 4 years we had a rush trip down Tuesday stopped in for dinner terrible no one there and i know why I ordered a 300 gram porterhouses with salad the steak was 200 gram the salad came out in a bowl you would normally see rock salt in bit disappointing as we spend up each time we come down not happy regulars i have found the rsl out the back door to be fantastic and they dont charge extra on public holidays for the drinks or services this is a huge increase in the cost of your visit the drinks are very expensive

Didn't stay there - just went to the pub for dinner. Staff were very friendly and it's great that there's an indoor playground, but I ordered the "eye fillet" steak and the staff asked me what sauce I'd like, but didn't mention that it came with either chips or roast vegetables. It came with a mountain of chips, which was pretty depressing - I don't like chips. The steak was also cooked in a way that it had little burnt bits all over it, which tasted bad: (Hopefully my next experience will be better - won't be ordering the steak tho.

The luxury renovated accommodation at the Rye hotel is a very private, understated sanctuary and provides a superb stay on the Mornington peninsula with easy access to the beach across the road, Peninsula hot pools, Sorrento and Portsea bay and surf beaches.

The Hotel and staff are long established community minded locals who provide exceptional, amiable assistance and recommendations. They are super accomodating and helpful.

The Kingsize bed is one you dont want to leave it is so comfortable. Bathroom has a waterfall shower head to shower under

The hotel bars and menus offer delicious choices. The cafe and terrace offer views of Rye pier in a relaxed atmosphere where one can be inspired or relax with company and good conversation while dining or embibing.

There is also an open fire to dine by.

Rye Hotel is a secret discovery with honest traditional caring personnel and value.

A chat will lead you to your dreams here

I highly recommend the Rye Hotel where the decades of respected experience on the Peninsula offers the best possible stay and relaxation

Charter fishing boats are also available in the vicinity

Thank you for the most memorable two weeks before leaving Australia and your happy beautiful dispositions.
