Rye Pub reviews
71 HOSPITALITY of staff okay.
Meal left a toxic taste in my mouth. Reheated roast, seriously! Shrivelled up carrots 'n peas; potatoes were cold in the middle with black eyes not removed; Pork was like sticks of bark and all swimming and smothered in boiling hot imposter gravy. Our other meal-Chicken Parma was dry and tasteless.foul.
Gives Rye a bad name.
Very accommodating for large groups, booked in advance.
Could not talk enough about the great hospitality.
Parma was very overpriced and disappointing. Sauce was gross, chicken was burnt and untasteful. Servers were rude no cap
Its was ok but was way to packed with no real social distancing enforced, also todl staff about a dangerous spill and they were uninterested. Staff were OK but not very polite and very distant. Drinks are also pretty overpriced.
The adjacent Carnival on the foreshore, the lines of evening customers and the throng of holiday makers made for a Carnival atmoshere, busy, and good food.
My family and I ordered 4 meals. My Parma was tasty, but pretty average. Many pubs have cheaper (4 dollars cheaper) and slightly better parmigianas available. Also most parmigianas are served with a side salad instead of coleslaw.
My father paid 38 for an underwhelming scotch fillet (the cut was unusually chewy, probably not the restaurant’s fault), although the seeded mustard potato and salsa verde were nice.
My brother’s carbonara was satisfactory but it ought to be bigger or cheaper; a $22 carbonara should not leave the consumer wanting.
My mother’s calamari (seemed) fresh and tasted nice, although the pickled salad that it came with was not picked (if it was pickled it isn’t noticeable, and she’s a professional chef).
However, the staff are cool and the place is clean and proper. Good atmosphere.
Security guard refused entry to BISTRO last night for my niece (28) and daughter (17), even though 7 other family members had entered. While discussing ‘entry laws’ regarding underage people, another group similar to ours just strolled through without any ID check. Manager was called and stated some nonsense about local police. We have been going to Rye bistro for over 25 years. Never before have I heard such nonsense
The arrogant way in which the security guard spoke was abysmal and a very poor reflection on this bistro.
All my family wanted was to eat a meal, none had been drinking, all were dressed appropriately. No excuse Rye Hotel!
Always get a great meal at an affordable price. Friendly staff and all day lunch makes it easier on a weekend when we feel like a later lunch. Love it here
Staff not friendly at all and showed attitude towards us, I went with my family all the way from Melbourne for Saturday Lunch and the service was very disappointing te staff had no smile and didn't want to talk to us. One such experience was that I was in line with someone to order our lunch for approx 5 mins, there was no one at the counter and at 2.31 PM one of the staff turned up and told us that the menu changed to afternoon menu. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
BnB Host Management taking a lunch break at the Rye Hotel, whilst working on the Mornington Peninsula inpsecting Holiday Properties to Manage.
Got a chicken parma and some beers. The beer was Jetty Road Pale Ale and tasted pretty good. The meal was ok, but pre-made because all the food came out in minutes. On the downside the parma was a bit soggy for some reason. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Poor, Very Poor!
Came here 2 years ago and it was spectacular.
Came here today and I can say that it has gone downhill at maximum velocity.
Amazing service. When u walk in the door the atmosphere is so welcoming. The staff are so friendly and food is fantastic Outdoor area is great and Thank you to Andrew for making this perfect? Strongly recommend
Nice food, but the state of the men's room is disgusting. Reported the issue to staff and they did not seem very worried. Meanwhile I hope that was only water that soaked my feet.
Delicious food and great service. Oprion for kids meals to come out when ready or with adults - always a bonus!
Average pub food with standard offerings seen everywhere targeting family's and older clientele.
Extremely disappointed with the Rye Pub. Service was terrible, with the exception of Colleen who helped us despite being on the bar and not food. We had 4 of us dining and two of our meals came half an hour before the other two, which we had to ask to have brought out. The kitchen also disputed that we didn’t order the 2 meals that hadn’t come out. Food quality was also poor, the two parmas that were ordered and late to come out were also cold and the meals are quite overpriced for the portions, Will not be returning.
Wanted to stop in and have a couple of beers with my partner and 18 month golden retriever was told by the manager no dogs aloud even in the open outdoor area.disappointed to say the least.
We spent boxing day at the Rye Hotel. A lovely outdoor area. Staff are very friendly. Fabulous food and drink. Try out the vegan burger! 10/10 (and I'm not even vegan)
Went there for Christmas lunch, 1pm sitting. At 2.10 hadn't even received our appetiser! After complaining 3 times we eventually received our appetiser at 2.25. Waiting staff were very friendly and helpful. Wasn't their fault. Kitchen was so disorganised. Won't be returning!
