Visited this Hotel for Dinner and was extremely happy with the service and the quality and quantity of food served to us. Served Dinners very quick considering the amount of people in the Restaurant and our party of 10 people. Would recommend for an easy mid week Dinner.

Friendly service, spacious dining area and a good range of meals. Seniors lunches available. The fish & chips on the lunch menu were particularly good.

Nice view of street from windows, friendly staff, plenty of seating, ample parking. Seniors menu ($10 to $15), roast of the day $20. One of our favourite venues.

Meals good except for meat in the Roast of the day, was a bit tough and fatty, but others meals very good

Came here for a second time, this time for an impromptu lunch for 2. Great atmosphere, great service and good food at a reasonable price.
Definitely a recommend.

We had a lovely Mother's day dinner here. All the mums were gifted a beautiful candle which was a lovely surprise. We all enjoyed our meals celebrating with our families. Thank you for treating all the amazing mums today Royal FTG hotel

Good meals for seniors (some less than $10). Great roast of the day for $20, for anyone. Seniors dessert available too, for $3. Great environment.

My wife and I and friends used to eat here regularly over many years.
However the management of this hotel have stopped serving seniors meals since about August despite the seniors in this area carrying the hotel with their loyal patronage. Shame on you Royal.

Enjoyed a pleasant birthday dinner. Ordering on the app was easy (although the credit card fees seemed a bit steep). Had my regular Parma and it didn't disappoint

Parma, fish and chips and salad all great as well as great service and reasonable prices. But can be hit and miss with the meals as obviously frozen prawns and what seemed like cheese slices cut up instead of parmesan cheese which was disappointing.

So dissapointed, as this was the first night out to celebrate power going on after 4 days of none. We were greeted by Tracey who was so wonderful, however, as the app didn't work, we ordered manually from staff at bar. We ordered both senior steak and senior Parma.
When it arrived at our table, we thought the parma was a great serving, as was the steak.
When we went to pay, we were informed by Amanda that as we ate it all, we actually were given a main size therefore we had to pay for it. That was not the case at all, infact, Amanda apologised and said she was sorry, but the gentleman got it wrong. My partner doesn't like to make a fuss, and proceeded to pay for the main, regardless of ordering a seniors meal.
How were we meant to know the Parma was large and therefore not a senior?
So dissapointed tonight with the way Amanda handled the whole situation. It was clearly NOT our fault but the fault of your staff.

Always a great meal, good wine list including several by the glass. Amanda is the archetypal host.

Had a meal at this Hotel on Wednesday 23rd June. Service was very good and pleasant. Food was of a good standard for a Hotel meal and would return again in the future for a quick and easy meal. Parking is excellent at rear of Hotel. Nice atmosphere and Dining room felt very clean.

Traditional pub food done well, menu has more options than most. Generous servings and attentive staff. The dining space is comfortable and has character.

I am so disappointed to be writing this review! The royal has been my local for 33 years, and for 33 years, I have never EVER had a terrible experience until now! This is the second time we have gone back since covid. Almost 12 months since we have been last and we said we were not going back then, tonight we decided it was time to finally try again and that was a big regret! Twice now we have had the worst chicken Parma with so much cheese on top that is just obviously coving up the cheap chicken and horrible sauce put on, garlic bread is honestly no better then the black and gold you buy at the supermarket also drowned in cheese had this also twice now, and the new way of ordering our food witch is table service is an absolute shambles! I can’t believe how terrible the staff where at there unorganized new way of serving, and not to be able to walk up to bar and get your own drink, just plan bull! As for the toilets both times I have been they have been just a mess both male and female and there is seriously no need for the uncleanliness of them! Just gross! The royal used to be an amazing place, such a shame and so so so disappointing to see such a massive change in such a bad way to food and service! As for the gun waitress the used to work there, well it looks like she has gone and I will say girl you are sadly misses! I am just so so so disappointed! This is definitely not a nice place to eat! Such a shame!

I visited the royal tonight, (Friday) with my wife and adult son. With the Friday theatre crowd in, they were unable to provide a table despite several being unused for the entire time we were dining there. Instead we were on bar stools in a breezeway. The two seniors meals had one chicken thigh, a few potato pieces, a small piece of pumpkin and some peas. I later ordered what was prominently labeled as a $2.50 seniors dessert vanilla slice and was charged $8 for it. When asked about this I was told that I didn't show a seniors card so they charged full price and refused to rectify the overcharge. I trust they'll make good use of the $5.50 they were paid for this review. I wouldn't recommend and doubt that we would eat there again.

Staff great. We had Seniors meals and unfortunately the chicken Maryland was burnt on the underside and very dry and 2 of us had sirloin steak and they were tough. Sadly can't rate any higher this time. A big disappointment.
