What a beautiful place this was. The food was fresh and the staff were so lovely to let me move me to a window seat where I can eat my food and see this beautiful view. Really enjoyed my day <3

Great place for a Meal or Afternoon tea, very Cosy
Staff and food very good. In winter, even more cosy
With Fireplace going.

We have been coming here for years and absolutely love it! Beautiful, cosy cafe with some great produce at the front. Nice small spaces inside with a covered-in balcony out the back with a fireplace. Surrounded by trees. Food is great and staff are super friendly. Make sure you leave time to find a car space in Sassafras and definitely book a table as this place gets busy!

An odd place. You can't eat their own savoury tarts in the cafe (takeaway only) and it takes them 30 minutes to warm them up. Coffee took 20 minutes too. Save your time and go to Proserpina.

Lovely cafe, staff were wonderful. Tried the all day breakfast menu options. The pulled pork benedict was awesome. Great coffees too. There were heaps of other things to try there, keen to visit again.

Place is really nice and cozy.sausage roll was really delicious and also enjoyed my cofee. Place is nice. 2 stars down 1 for the plastic flowers on the table, especially in this area where nature gives u all these beautiful flowers u can use something fresh. Also 1 for the dirty smelly bathroom, really dissatisfied with it.

Ordered food and coffee, mushrooms weren't cooked and bread wasn't toasted.
Coffee is normally great but wasn't even hot today just warm.

To finish the service 3 tables sat down after us and got served food before us.
Normally they are better then this.

Beautiful cafe located at the sassafras town. Spacious enough with nice ambience and good food. Spent quality time sipping coffee ️

Ripe has always been a popular venue for visitors and locals to the Dandenongs. Having recently changed managment it has an updated menu and pricing. On a recent visit my experience with the food and service was not in par with the usual standards that Ripe is known for and hopefully this is only a small hiccup and Ripe will continue to provide high standards in the future.

I really wanted to like this place with its cute decor and indoor/outdoor seating. Sadly, the food wasn't good - definitely not worth the wait.

The poached eggs were over done on 3 of our meals - not runny at all and mine still tasted like strong vinegar. The hollandaise was really thick and not quite right. Our burger was missing key ingredients (bacon and egg) which they fixed; however, the patty was overcooked to the point that it was crunchy. We heard the crunch as our friend bit into it - funny but not funny!

They also ran out of orange juice so we order other drinks but they forgot to take these off our bill. Lucky we checked when paying; however, the person didn't believe us and kept asking what drinks we received as a replacements. Your wait staff could've confirmed this in 30 seconds rather than you ruining the customer experience.

Giving you 1 star because we enjoy a scone and a couple of your wait staff were nice.

Indifferent service, not coping with the demand. We were advised of 30 min wait. We were ok with that. But after 40 min. When I politely asked waiter to check how much longer, her attitude almost landed them with a cancellation of all food. Right behind her was waiter with our food. He at least apologised for delay. Appreciated. Sausage roll burnt on bottom. Got eaten anyway. Service is key when you're run off your feet. Most people understand. Especially if you're courteous. Try to remember guests have a choice. Our choice is to not go back. Try harder for your sake.

What a fabulous cafe, delicious food. Get a table on the back deck, the atmosphere and scenery is amazing.

Ordered a cheesecake, a pie and coffee from the display counter. After 30 minutes of waiting for our food to arrive, the waitress who took our order came by and asked what we had ordered to see what was happening. 15 minutes after that we were finally served our food. Total time of 45 minutes to receive food from a display case.

What's even worse was that the waitress never explained what was happening, nor apologised for the delay. Dismal customer service, won't be coming back.

I really wanted to like this place. It's cute inside and out but the food and service lacks BIG TIME!
We arrived and were noticed by 3 different staff members who ignored us, literally! Walked straight past us several times.
Finally sat down and ordered the cheese burger. The meat patty was far too big and thick for the bun. It was served with potato wedges which were cut up potatoes that were burnt on the outside and hard on the inside. Overall the meal was just plain average.
My partner ordered the sausage roll and said it was okay but for the price you pay you really are not getting value for money.
As we left we asked the lady for a cookie and she said yes no worries and walked off and sat down and ate her lunch? What the hell?
There was one lady with possibly a piercing that was really polite and her table service was great. To the lady that ate her lunch and half served us throughout the day, you are lacking service and a smile would be nice.
Head down to Sassafras Cafe if you are in the area. Can't go wrong!

One of my favourite cafes to visit when at Sassafras, the service is good, the staff are very friendly and the food is amazing! Has a great atmosphere and would highly recommend you pop in whether it be for brekkie, lunch or afternoon tea.

Love this place for its location, menu, food and ambience. For the discerning diner, however, the waiting staff might benefit from some basic training. Serve from the left, pick up plates from the right, don't reach over people to put wine, etc. Also there was no dedicated waiter per table. I lost count of how many waiters took and delivered orders to/ from our table.

Decent coffee and cakes. However whilst we were enjoying our meal the staff started putting the chairs on the tables around us. That spoilt it for us.
