Avoid group bookings! We booked 2 weeks in advance with written and verbal confirmation of a set price for the Chefs tasting menu. Manager refused to honour the price clearly stated in the email and was frankly, really rude to deal with. Arrogant and unapologetic for their mistake. He “compromised” by providing drinks and discounting the set menu slightly. But then went back on his word and charged everyone the full amount PLUS a $4 surcharge per person for splitting the bill?

A 1.5 hour booking turned into a 2.5-3 hour seating because we were left waiting over 40 minutes before an order was taken. Food was served room temperature at best and there was a very large gap in between each course. Dining experience overall was terrible. Poorly managed. Understaffed. Never again. We had to cop their mistake and pay triple the amount we were told upon booking just so we could leave, which warrants a consumer affairs complaint to be honest.

Rude manager aside, the wait and bar staff were friendly and a pleasure.

AMAZING food and venue. Service was also great. The only problem was the music was WAY too loud. Couldn't have a conversation over dinner was having to yell and ended up with a sore throat. We asked on numerous occasions to turn the volume down and was ignored. Don't understand why music is so loud at a restaurant where people sit and talk with no dancing.

Great location, beautiful venue, friendly staff, and a fun menu full of promise. But to our surprise we found all the flavours very safe and dialed right down. Awesome for the western palate, perhaps. But i was struggling to find flavour to boost everything we had. Wishing for stronger chilli, fish sauce, anything really. Could have been much better. To understand what i mean about real flavour - check out Rin Sura instead.

The atmosphere is amazing I highly recommend for nights with friends for amazing cocktails. I was slightly disappointed with some of the food, the flavours were amazing and delicious, but the lamb bbq ribs I had were seriously mostly just fat. There were 3 ribs. 2 had about 35% meat the rest was fat and the 3rd rib literally was just fat.it was inedible. I’m ok with a bit of fat here and there but there was basically no actual lamb meat on the plate, too much fat is never nice.so I felt a little ripped off for that reason.but other than that the flavours were great. The kfc chicken was good and was gluten free so that was a plus for me as I am coeliac.

Went with a couple of gfs on a Saturday evening at 7.30pm for dinner and catch up. Food was great, cocktails were so-so but the MUSIC was way TOO LOUD (bad speakers too). We had to yell to have a conversation.had a sore throat and so exhausted by the end of the night trying to hear what we were saying to each other. Tried asking the waiters to turn down the volume to no avail: (

Love this place but please bring back your usual menu! At our last visit, we noticed the menu was cut back and so too were the servings! It's a shame as this was one of our favourite spots to eat, prior covid closure.

Hugely disappointing, service was poor, took 20 min for someone to come and take our order after getting up and asking bar staff after 15 min if we could order. The food is tasty but the meal portions are embarrassingly small making the dishes overpriced. Unfortunately I won't be recommending or dining again. A pity the surroundings don't match the service or food portions.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary yesterday at this place. Fabulous is an understatement. It’s a great place to go as the ambience and decor is befitting, food is excellent and the staff are very friendly. We were initially directed to tall chairs but were quickly moved to a more comfortable seating at the first opportunity. We were looked after very well in spite of they being at full capacity. Would always recommend this place for having a great time with family and friends

Delicious food, we were lucky enough to get a table just walking in, but it was late so suggest booking where possible. We tried a bit of everything, highly recommend the duck pancake! Fantastic cocktails as well!

14/11/20. THIS PLACE SHOULD PERMANENTLY CLOSED. Ridiculously TINY portions. Very Expensive Place. Staff are clueless on whether meals have been brought out or not. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. WE WERE STILL HUNGRY AFTER PAYING MORE THAN $300. Disgusting to RIP PEOPLE OFF LIKE THIS. STAY AWAY!

Normally I go to restaurants and think 'what can I eat'. With Rice Queen's Vegan banquet I was able to eat everything and it was amazing! Thank you Rice Queen. I'm truly grateful for your vegan options. Every dish was delicious. It's great to be able to eat ethical food. We will be back.

Beautiful place with beautiful foods and beverage. You should try lamb shank rendang. I couldn't finish it alone. Big portion for small me

Live DJ, matched wines with an exquisitely curated Valentine's Day menu, attentive and knowledgeable staff - Rice Queen is literally a Queen amongst the Melbourne Dining scene.
Should you go there? Yes.
Should you let the staff choose your menu and cocktails? I can't yes enough.

Summary: The food wasn't worth the price

We tried the tasting menu and got many drinks.

Drinks:
We got a green jug drink and that didn't taste good.
The other vodka sodas tasted alright but then again they are vodka sodas.

Food:
The tasting menu was very spread out and we kept getting hungry in between just waiting for food. The waitress told us that the food is supposed to very spread out. Seemed like they just wanted us to spend a lot of money on drinks.

The fried chicken was dry.
The chicken breast was good.
The potatoe fries were alright.
The white rice wasn't done well. The grains felt like they were cooked unevenly. Either cheap grains or using too big of a pot that doesn't cook rice evenly.
Eggplant curry was ok but flavor just came from the sause and not the actual food.

Over all the tasting menu was not worth the price.

The staff however was nice.

Great atmosphere and the decorations are really cool! Asian fusion~ Waiters and waitresses were “professional”, however was rushed into leaving because apparently they have a booking for our table. (We weren’t notified about the booking when we were seated - and this has affected the dining experience), waiter and waitresses took away everything as soon as they can, hand in the bill and rushed us to leave The asian veggie was really nice, fried chicken wings was meh. Very limited food choice on the menu and the food comes in veryyyyy small portion, price is a little bit higher than the shops around. There’s a karaoke room at the back (fits prob about 15 pax?) with a minimum spending of $150.

Great venue for a night out near the city. Great modern Asian food and cocktails. They have two settings so go early or late.

Waited forever for our table, and the wait staff were slow and confused. Not a great way to kick off my partner’s birthday dinner. They then completely forgot about our karaoke booking and took forever to clear out the previous party. The food was incredible, though, and in their defence they did give us some free booze to make up for it (although it took pressure from one of our guests, who is well experienced in the hospo world).

Food good. AC must have been broken. It was soooo hot in there. Would be a 5 star if the temperature was bearable.

The food was fine but a comment on the customer service.when a woman of child bearing age discreetly orders a mocktail at a large group function please train your wait staff not to announce to the large table “who ordered the mocktail!? ” and when no one claims the mocktail don’t come back and insist that the person did indeed order it. Thanks for announcing my pregnancy to all of my coworkers on my behalf. Some common sense and tact from the wait staff would have been appreciated.
